  1. Nothing like a little bulletin board material, not that ND needs any sort of motivation to be physical. It is kind of strange for a coach to accuse at team of being dirty in the paper. She is probably more upset about last year's game when one of her eight graders had a serious injury against ND. She should take responsibility for that one, though, for having an 8th grader out there in the first place.
  2. You a Baylor spokesperson now also ? D Information is power. Plus, the private school folks need to stick together.
  3. SM played a much better game than East Hamilton, so I agree that SM should be ranked higher. SM also has a better record, though EH has played far superior competition. Given how weak the district is, it seems probable the two teams will meet again. I thought SM let their emotions get the best of them, but can't say I blame them after the constant attacks in the second half. SM was also way to content to clear the ball versus keeping possession. Notre Dame attracts students from all over the region. Every school district in town could make the comment about playing for the home town school. How many Baylor and GPS girls live on the mountain? As long as Hamilton County runs the schools, I doubt the private schools have much to worry about. I think all of their math teachers are certified to teach, too.
  4. The rankings on eurosport have no credibility. At least the rankings on here are put together with lots of research and a good amount of time. The good news is there is a playoff which is all that matters any way.
  5. EHS...Please, Please don't get caught up in with Notre Dame folks, thinking that you must beat every opponent by 5 or 6 goals for it to be a successful outing. CAUTION...You are entering the ND spin zone. MVM, nice to see you back on the board. I would love to hear more about Soddy's recent games.
  6. I am going with a 4 -1 ND win, with SM scoring a late goal. Another topic on this board was talking about 8th grade eligibility. In the ND vs SM game last year, a SM 8th grader suffered a serious injury to one of her growth plates. She has recovered, thankfully, but I am in the camp that thinks 8th graders should just wait one more year. I do not understand the logic of just because a middle school is on the same campus that 8th graders can play. It is a safety issue for me.
  7. Any prediction for Tuesday's game against Notre Dame?
  8. Notre Dame 1 Soddy-Daisy 1 Both goals were scored in the first half. Soddy scored second on a beautiful cross followed with a header. I was late arriving so missed ND's goal. Both teams had equal chances in 1st half. 2nd half was a different story with ND maintaining possession on their half for the most part. I don't think Soddy got a shot off. Soddy keeper had to work for a living in this half. I believe she was a substitute and did not play in the 1st half. It was good to see lots of Soddy girls that I have watched grow up at Middle Valley.
  9. CAK clearly has an edge in overall talent, which is where games are won. I'd love to hear why you think CAK has a coaching advantage. Since you are from Chattanooga, I have to assume you have at least some knowledge of the GPS coaching staff. Attacking - advantage CAK Midfield - Even or slight edge CAK Defense - Even Goalkeeper - advantage GPS I think CAK probably wins this one, but it certainly won't be because of who is on the sidelines for either team. That is an interesting concept...that coaches do not affect the outcome of games. The Jackie Charlton's of the world are clearly over-rated. Think of the money to be saved by just throwing the players on the field! Heck, maybe I should apply for the next coach opening since a coach has no bearing on the game. My statement was more of a testament to the staff at CAK versus any detriment to the GPS staff.
  10. They're in the same district....so they gotta play each other. They do not play and they are not in the same district. District: 6 Bachman (McDonald) Brainerd (Chattanooga) Chattanooga Central (Harrison) CSAS (Chattanooga) East Hamilton (Apison) East Ridge (Chattanooga) Hixson Howard (Chattanooga) Red Bank (Chattanooga) Tyner (Chattanooga) Area 4 District: 7 Bledsoe County (Pikeville) Chattanooga Christian (Chattanooga) Grundy County (Coalmont) Lookout Valley (Chattanooga) Marion County (Jasper) Notre Dame (Chattanooga) Richard Hardy (South Pittsburg) Sale Creek Sequatchie County (Dunlap) Signal Mountain South Pittsburg Van Buren (Spencer) Whitwell
  11. All things seem somewhat equal talent-wise between these teams this year, so I think the edge goes to CAK due to their coaching advantage.
  12. Signal Mountain and East Hamilton have both middle and high schools on campus.
  13. Absolutely! I love the Redhawks. Ben Roethlisberger is one of my favorite alums. But what does that have to do with the East Hamilton Hurricanes?
  14. Congrats to East Hamilton for cracking the top 10 in AAA. Moral Victories do count!
  15. I went out and bought myself a big Hurricane flag for my car. I am a big fan of their coach, and their girls are building a great base to build on. One more anchor for Chattanooga soccer.
  16. ND 2 Hutchison 1 ND 3 ECS 0 And two more Irish players hurt. This time, rolled-ankles.
  17. I gave EHS credit. Re-read my post. Your keeper was well-positioned and made some good saves. The defense never backed down. The team will be very successful some day. They played very well for a first-year team, even with parent's yelling instruction and complaining the whole first half. Thankfully, you have a coach of great character who tried to correct the behavior with a great speech to the parents at half time. One parent reminded me of the Robert Duvall character from The Great Santini. Though I didn't count 50/50's won, I did count these stats: EHS Corner Kicks: 0 ND Goal Kicks:0 EHS Shots on Frame: 0 EHS Shots: 0 ND Keeper Touches: 0
  18. The Chattanooga United FC 97 Red team pulled off the first tournament victory for the new CUFC club at the KFC Crush tournament in Knoxville last weekend (8/22-8/23/09). The boys put in a dominating performance by not allowing a goal in all 4 games and scored at least 4 goals in each game, including the Championship game. Congrats to the boys and Coach John Millard!
  19. EHS keeper made only a few saves - played very well. Just saying that shots were not to be found for either team. The EHS keeper claimed several crosses/ill-advised thru balls, but Notre Dame had only 10-12 shots on goal for the game. Field (horrible!) hurt EHS speed on the outside also. True, though, regarding EHS' chances on goal. They had some good counters in both halves that could have led to great chances while the game was still scoreless but just could not seem to finish the build up. Soon as ND finally found the net (less than 15 to go), it really seemed to "take the wind out of the EHS girls' sails". Both teams seem to be searching for what to do in the last 35 yards. Season is still very young, though. Who was missing for EHS?? And who was hurt for ND? Hope it is nothing serious I stopped counting at 13 shots in the first half. 6 were on frame. Same story in the 2nd half. The ball rarely reached across the half line to ND's side. I was not told which starters were missing, just that a couple were. JM subbed quite a bit to keep his girls fresh, but they ran out of gas at the end. The game was stopped for a good 10 minutes because of the injury. Not sure how you could have missed it.
  20. At Baylor Tournament Notre Dame 2 East Hamilton 0
  21. EHS was very well organized defensively, even given ND's constant pressure. The keeper must have made 20 saves. I was impressed with this only being a 1st year team, but knew Coach JM would have them ready. The field also played in their favor. The field reminded me of the D1-AA championship game that forced Finley to go to turf. Somewhat neutralized ND's outside speed. EHS definitely need a few playmakers, but I understand a couple of starters were missing. The ND keeper never touched the ball. On the ND side, both goals were scored by freshmen, which is needed given how many seniors graduated. I am very interested to see how they play tomorrow. Unfortunately, ND also had 2 injuries. The starting keeper was hurt in warm-ups, and a defender hurt her knee during the game.
  22. Boy that was a funny one. You people on this kick ball site really keep me in stiches. The good Doctor(champdds) is new to the high school sceen and is very excited to be here. He is a very nice man who was just searching out some info on a team, play nice chattanoogacannon. bcb iii I will be sure and keep the kid gloves on when dealing with the good Dr. D. I will save the funny stuff when I am in the stands with him.
