  1. It will be interesting to see how the new school does in this region (almost as interesting as the fact that no one is saying anything about them). Their girls success was surprising to most. Wonder if the boys will do the same.
  2. What happened? Silverdale won. EHS played very well for the first part of the first half. SBA looked good too. EHS controlled the game and possession for the first twenty minutes. There were two distinct mishaps in the closing minutes of the first half and two goals for SBA. As soon as SBA scored, you could see EHS stop playing. EHS worked very hard but the girls' mental toughness was tested...and failed, IMHO. There were three individual errors that led to three far too easy goals and one own goal.
  3. We all know how players will respond to the question "would you like your stats to be in the paper or not?" All I know is that there are well-respected coaches (respected by myself anyway) in our area who do not submit individual player stats to the press. Only these individual coaches can answer why they choose not to but I assume it is for the reason already stated: I know several coaches who leave their "star" players in against weak opponents to rack up tons of points.
  4. Bad luck continuing for the Hurricanes. East Hamilton lost more starters this past week due to illness and injury. I heard that coach's select team is suffering greatly from the flu as well. Is this a problem anywhere else?? Never seen it this bad.
  5. Removed original post at EHS coaches request...sorry I will say that EHS had respectable games against Baylor and Notre Dame. Baylor game was a 1-0 game. ND game was scoreless until the last 9 minutes when injuries caught up with EHS and they had no subs.
  6. Removed original post...sorry coach
  7. I will drink from MJUHBs kool-aid (if he thinks EHS is 8th in state in A/AA surely they are in Chatt top ten overall): 1. Baylor 2. GPS 3. Notre Dame 4. Chattanooga Christian 5. Soddy Daisy 6. East Hamilton 7. Cleveland 8. Signal Mountain 9. CSAS 10. McMinn County
  8. Exactly my point. I do not. But I do think its ridiculous that theere are four different tournaments to determine four different state champs. And I would think that is one reason why the rankings during the season hold interest - euro has an overall poll just as mjuhb does but those team will never meet in a playoff to determine the best overall. But I wonder why do people put so much trust/stock/interest/discussion in rankings from one person. Isn't it more extreme or ridiculous to think that one person has an idea of what is going on in ALL OF TN. I was shocked at the number of conversations that circled around weekly rankings on a blog site. When euros were brought up the reaction was...well...extreme from people that are apparently regulars on this site - "Euros are laughable. Euros mean nothing. Etc, etc, etc." I was surprised, especially when euro is collected from many coaching voices around the state. I was merely stating a case and using EHS as an example because it is the team that I know the most about. I do think that the playoffs answer all questions...just surprised at the extreme reaction received when I posted the euro rankings. In posting them here I felt as though I was "treading on someone's turf." That is my point.
  9. I have removed my original post. This is going nowhere.
  10. Hope you are not implying anything negative towards EHS with our Sequatchie game. There has been far worse. Check out scores on euro in a/aa this year alone in the top ranked teams section. EHS game was 5-0 before you could blink. Coach M made immediate subs, I heard he put restrictions on how the girls could score, and second half they possessed the ball for the first twenty-five minutes. There were saves to be made and the keeper simply let the ball go through her hands.
  11. I agree with almost everything you said except for the part that you think all their math teachers are certified. Well that isn’t true. Teachers at the private schools don’t have to have the state certification. I know several qualified and competent teachers from private schools but they don’t have the certification from the state of TN. As for the EHSoccer comment, I really dont care about rankings they dont mean anything. Like our football coach said last week you can't put a paper on the field and win a game....... Everything will play out by the end of the season and the best teams will still be playing while others will be watching. I think it would be great if EH can make a run into the playoffs. smeagle- I hate message boards. I was typing in jest. Sorry if it was not received as such. We would love to make a run. I do think that you can get a second chance at ND. It will depend on how CCS and ND plays out. When and where will that game be played. Could play to other teams advantage if ND hosts district at their place. As for East Hamilton, Coach M is doing a great job and am thrilled we have him. but I think even he wold say that our girls have a lot to work on if we want to get out of districts. Our youth shows in games against the elite (ND and Baylor, for instance - though I still wish we had been at full strength in those games).
  12. Never heard of someone whipping for votes so much on a blog site. wow. Does being on the outside looking in of mjuhb's rankings bother you that much. The only thing that matters is the playoffs, Smeagle. Not a bad result, though it was ND coming onto your own turf and winning by that two goal margin you mentioned. ND and CCS will come out of that district (district 7?). They are the teams to beat.
  13. BigG- Coaches are suppossed to continue submitting their rankings to Euro, and that is how the top 11 gets established. Our coach told me he received an email from the person in charge of the euro rankings letting Coach M know that he needed to submit his rankings for the first week. MVM - The rankings currently on Euro are not last years rankings, at least not the A/AA and AAA. If you look at the game results you will notice they are this year's game results, that everyone in the top 11 was previously NR - not ranked - and that the results are for the time period "11/02/08 - present." I understand everyone's appreciation of the rankings found on here. I have just always understood that Euro rankings are rankings sumitted by coaches. Some coaches may not be letting their voices be heard (not emailing smyrna coach @ smyrnasoccer@yahoo.com). Maybe the person on euro's end is doing a bad job at communicating with state coaches the process, etc.
  14. You were told wrong. Nobody on here considers Eurosport's rankings remotely accurate in either boys' or girls' soccers. For the legitimate rankings, check here. As a sign of how messed up their rankings are, note that Catholic is ranked in A/AA. This is wrong because Catholic is in AAA. Euro is still getting things figured out since TSSAA changed some zones/classifications - that is why there are some teams in the wrong spot. I look at the rankings you referenced for a source of entertainment (reading people's whining and moaning) but know of few people who consider them "the legitimate rankings". They are one person's thoughts on a message board, period.
  15. See below for euro week one rankings. Okay. I am told that they are the most legitimate rankings because rankings are based only on the submissions of head coaches. So, how in the world is Seymour ranked in the top ten in a/aa with 20 goals allowed, 5 losses, 4 goals scored, and 0 wins?? David Limbscomb ranked with a 1-2 record. Not to mention the fact that euro has Seymour listed as a AAA team (or has the AAA rankings available on their team page) as well as an A/AA team. Am I missing something?
