Quit using that "city school experience" line. It's getting old. Every school has rough nieghborhoods and rough kids we deal with. Some more than others. If you think anyone believes the damaged jersey stuff warranted a name change on the roster as "overlooked" then I have some swampland in Raleigh to sell you. Im sure at the Douglass game, the damaged jersey wrong name stuff will be fixed as people know now. What is the deal with the Bolton AD? Did they have a complaint? Holier than thou? It's tough doing the right thing...our kids on our roster names and numbers are correct, and they live where they say they live. They dont use any uncles, aunts, or cousins addresses. They actually live in the house they list. We play what is given to us and we stay one of the top teams in the district. Coach Michaels is of the highest integrity and would not put up with any monkey business. Of that I am very proud of the Millington Trojans!!!

Ok fella's.....time for kickoff. What are the score predictions? Is this team better or worse than Munford. I saw them play against Arlington. A lot of mistakes but I think they still put up 20 points against Arlington. They do have a few athletes and some size but they were all over the place. I think this will be a good game to work on some things which I think we will. Practice has been a little different this week and it will show tonight. Millington 42 Raleigh Egypt 10 ??????

I am not obsessed with Craigmont in any way and I know they were not recruited. It The main reason I have said anything is I cant stand cheating...period. Why in the world would he be listed as another # and on the roster under another name????? Is it partially because the AD at Bolton contested him at the first of the game against Bolton? Change his # and his name and he may not get recognized???

So I'm at the Craigmont-Cordova game last night. Interesting night. At halftime I see two of the coaches walk toward the endzone, open a pack of cigarettes and light'em one up. Great example. But thats just the warm up....then I see the kid who goes to Millington (D.H.) on the sideline wearing a #88 jersey as the ball boy.....It gets better....then I see # 18 who is M.H. on the sideline and playing D End. On the Craigmont roster he is listed as a Markel Atkins. How do I know this? I looked at the roster! I was standing at the fence looking right at him. Even heard the coaches call him into the game by his first name. Like I have said before it shouldnt really suprise me that much as they have done this in the past. Either Go Chiefs is left out of the loop on what goes on with his players or he is just covering??!!

OK, the M&M saga is over for another year. The only score they did have they earned on a long pass in which our coverage still needs work. Even though we intercepted them a few times they should have never scored like that. Moving on....Raleigh Egypt from all accounts should be another big win. If we get up big what should we work on? Spreading the ball out? Short passes, options runs, pitches??? I hate to look ahead but our next big challenge is against CBHS. Will we be able to just pound it up the middle against them? I think R.E. would be a great opportinity to work on a few things for the future. Thoughts?

It wouldnt be so bad if this wasnt the first time it has happened. You guys have mysteriously gotten several kids from Millington eligible quickly in the past. 1.) Those two boys were practicing with you before they were cleared and you know it! The one boy who happens to be still with you is the better athlete of the two (ironic). The one who's parents "Live in Raleigh" picks up his little brother from practice at Millington (middle schools team) 2)If you can show a kid has moved to that district (an address) TSSAA will deem him eligible. They dont come down and physically look at the address. We know the other kid is at Millington because he is seen there everyday by other students and players. Hey man, Im not saying its your fault. I just cant stand teams, coaches or whoever it is that tries to circumvent the system to try to win ball games. Play what you are given, be the best coach you can be, be the example and whether you win one ball game or the state title you will know within yourself you have done your absolute best!

Accusations can be answered and proven wrong. The truth cannot. Answer team3 questions....I would like to here them. Dont try to bring dou and robm on this or anybody else from Millngton...its on me. If the system wouldnt try to be cheated you wouldnt have these types of discussions. Thats part of the fun of these types of public blog sites. If you cant stand the heat...dont cheat!

Well, full practice for this week is over. Pre-game today and gametime tommorrow. I know these kids and coaches are working hard. It will pay off for them tommorrow night. Next two games on the road. I think the Trojan fans will see improvement every game we play!!! If Munford tries to run on us it will be stopped cold. There only hope is to pass which I dont think they do well either.....Millington 46-Munford-7 (and that 7 will be late in the 4th when the 2's are in)

Yeah, thats what I thought. If Craigmont kept things on the up and up you wouldnt have to keep defending yourselves.

I dont know if we will win by 65 points but I do think we win by a comfortable margin. From what I understand Coach Randle decision to cancel the M&M bowl was a factor in his moving on. Does anyone know if Munford has any strong points? Are they a passing team or run team?

I am for promoting ANY kid that I can help. I would help any kid I could black, white, or purple if I could help advance them to the next level. I have made info available to kids of recruiters names and phone # to get video to them hoping that kid gets a look. There is a right way and a wrong way to help a kid. I will not cheat the system to do it though. You cannot justify helping a kid on the street that way....it only tells them its Ok to try to beat the system. I know the two kids in question have had a letter sent to Craigmont about their eligiblity and now one is back at Millington. The other may still be there. Why would a school have to let it come to that???????? One of the boys was coming to the 7-8th grade practice at Millington to pick up his brother to take home and he is wearing a Craigmont jersey coming from practice there. All the other kids know what is going on because they still see them at the same house.It doesnt suprise me as this isnt the first time it has happened with kids from Millington to Craigmont. Keep it legal, honest, fair and do what is right and you will impress that kid in his future more than any wins you might get in a few short years. You must not know about the contact from MCHS to Craigmont about their eligibility. If Im correct you coach their and would know about it? Prove me wrong, I owe you an apology.

I am concerned about teams (coaches) who break rules and try to circumvent the system to try to get good players to win games. It is dishonest and hurts the kids in the program. A good coach will try to get the absolute best out of the kids he has. Using Aunties and cousins or sisters addresses in that district to make someone eligible to play for a team and knowing they still live in the other district is crap and it needs to stop. There is no reason a letter should have to be sent to a school or the board to warn them to stop using a player because he doesnt live in that district. It is ridiculous. I can be proud that Millngton has never done this and is always competitive with the kids in their district. Coach Michaels would not even consider it.

Reliable source says letters were sent to Craigmont about their eligibility and all of the sudden one is back at Millington and the other isnt playing yet?!?! I thought they were both practicing with the team. They were seen at some Millington practices with Craigmont jerseys on. Something smells. This wouldnt be the first time Millington players suddenly become eligible at Craigmont.

Whats to expect in this game? Does Millington walk in and run over them? Does Munford pull the Brighton upset they did last year? Will Millingtons pass defense be a factor? Comments......

MUS ran into someone who solicits players as well as they do.....S.Panola just had more than they did this year. Dont count MUS out though as they will continue to recruit good talent!

Congrats to the Trojans staff on a lot better game. Few penalties, no holding calls, no offsides, only a couple illegal shift calls, no delay of game penalties. That is all coaching....Good job coach! Run game was awesome!!! We must find a pass defense sometime this year or we will lose the important ones. Somehow somewhere we are going to have to defend the pass better.

Everybody loads the box on the Trojans....that is no secret. It is because we are known as a run team. In the past we were so strong we just ran over the opponent. We will be able to strong arm a few teams with our running backs but that will only carry you so far. You have to have a balance. Short passes (5-10 yds), over the middle stuff and screens are high % completions that could help spread some defenses out. Against MUS we would have 3rd and 8 or more and run the ball. Im not saying you cant get first downs that way but it is tough. If we are to beat Bartlett we will either have to just run over them or spread them out a little some way. That goes to say for the whole season also.

A lot of the Trojans receivers were open during the MUS game. The QB was fairly accurate in his passing but a lot of the balls were dropped. I think that comes from lack of confidence on the receivers part and maybe a little from MUS expecting us to run the ball. Also maybe from a lack of confidence on the coaches part. But they were open. I think if the Trojans open up that option a little and complete a few passes it will intstill some confidence in the Trojans and add a good weapon to the arsenal. The run game is there. The game friday will be very important for the tone for the Trojan season. I see where Lafayette Co. is ranked #1 in MS. in 4a!

OK, Millington is 0-1 and starting their third week of the season. Have they worked out the kinks? Can they stop the pass and the run? Does Bartlett (or will they) pass enough to hurt them? Can Bartlett run against the Trojans? Bartlett looked good against Bolton who seems to be down this year but not so hot against Brighton. Was Brighton that good? I still say the Trojans will be the team to beat in the district but their will be a lot of close ones if we dont eliminate mistakes. This Friday will be a good test for the coaching staff to see if the mistakes against MUS were fixed. The Trojans win 21-10

Sorta odd...........two of the teams on the DD are out of state teams who dont play in any of the Shelby county districts and 4 of the teams are privates who have the ability to use and solicit players from anywhere. Thats half of the DD. Should they even be in the Memphis Tn. DD or is it something the Comm App does because they sell papers in these areas? Thoughts????

The Trojans have the tools to win. They are good size and strong with a deep running back bench. The challenge is they have a new head coach making some needed changes and they are a fairly young team. How quickly they adjust and limit mistakes is paramount. I have seen them look like the explosive team of 2 or 3 years ago and I have seen them look like they were unsure of themselves. This stuff is typical for a new coach with young players. If they are on key Saturday, they will turn some heads. This is a team that will get better every week. Looking forward to it!!

If we play like we did in the scrimmage two weeks ago against Houston this may be true...if we play like we did in the jamboree, I dont know?!?!?!!? I realize it was only 15 minutes, but for 15 minutes it was rough.

I dont know if playing really strong teams at the first of the season are really a good thing, especially if you are rebuilding. If you win you set a strong tone for the season, if you lose you may get these guys down early. I definitely dont like playing any private school as they like to "persuade" a lot of players and stack their teams just a little with these "academic scholarships". But with that said, the game will definitely not be the game you saw last year. If Millington plays with few mistakes and plays hard they can win this game. I have seen them practice and I have seen MUS play. They can win this game!

MUS played their typical game. No apparent superstars. Good QB, huge o-line. The D is nothing spectacular but they read and pursue well. Small in size but they are in the right place at the right time which comes from good coaching. Not many mistakes. Whaven, huge offense and def line, athletic QB, quick running backs. They did fumble the snap a few times, fumble after the catch a couple of times. MUS caught them a couple of times with off snap count. When I left the score was 29-19. Whaven kicker missed extra points and they allowed MUS runback on an interception where the MUS kid was missed about five times on the tackle attempts. Whaven is full of talent although the little things kill them.
