  1. Lets try this again. Who wins in the championship? *Posted from my Obama phone using Taptalk2*
  2. Who wins the Championship game on Saturday? Not looking ahead, just keeping it real. *Posted from my Obama phone using Taptalk2*
  3. People say that playing better teams make you better. Could Lake County, Union City, and Humbolt be making the other teams in the District better and it is beginning to show?
  4. I also believe the comparison you made between Greenfield/Bradford and Humbolt/Lake County was trying to point out that refs tend to favor the teams that are usually "under-manned or the underdog." I don't think there are many people that will not admit that Greenfield, Gleason, and Bradford which have a higher percentage of "white" kids are not usually as athletic as Humboldt, Union City, and Lake County which have a higher percentage of "black" kids. I may be mistaken, but I think this is what you were trying to say in your original post. "Pulling the race card" is a touchy subject that is easily blown out of porportion and misunderstood. While I don't believe you were intentionally saying, "The ref cheated because they were white and we were black," it could easily be interpreted that way.
  5. All of you that mentioned God, family, basketball, etc... The vacation with the grandparents to Disney World comes above basketball in the order of how things are supposed to be done. Putting family first = Going to Disney World with your grandparents because you can spend more quality time with them there than you can at home, getting to have your picture taken with Mickey, Goofey, Donald Duck, grandma with her fanny pack on, and grandpa with his khaki shorts and knee high black socks. Riding all of the fun rides, eating cotton candy, and drinking slushies. Going shopping so the grandparents can buy anything you want... now that quality family time.... NOT!!! It is completely rediculous the excuses some of you have made for the kids and their parents and how you have put the coach down! "Family" in the order of God, family, basketball is not "funfilled vacations" that are not necessary. "Family" is missing a game because: your 4 year old is in the hospital, going to FL to visit a grandparent because they are sick and don't have long to live, working a job after school to help feed your single mom and little sister - THAT IS FAMILY! Many parents do not teach life lessons, principles, and build character in kids like was done years ago. Too many times parents try to be their kid's best friend and are scared to say, "No" because they think it may upset their kid. What do you expect the coach to do? He made a decision and stuck with it. I would be ashamed as a player to come back from missed games or practices because I was at Disney World and expect to start.
  6. I'm not a die hard Greenfield fan, but I am from Weakley County. I do not travel far for games but I go watch when a good team comes to a school that is close to me such as Gleason, Greenfield, Westview. The ref made a bad call and blew his wistle when he should have swallowed it. I have not seen what I would call a great ref this year. I don't know if the ref made the bad call on purpose or not. After seeing him several times, I honestly think he is just that bad. This may have been mentioned because I havent read all the posts, but the game should have never been this close. Humboldt is much more talented, quicker, and athletic than Greenfield. I am not a fan of Greenfield's coach or the way he treats and talks to the kids but he teaches them how to play basketball.
  7. I don't know what the refs had against Humboldt tonight, but I'm glad they did! Congrats to the Yellowjackets!
  8. Humbolt's girls team has the talent to advance deep into the post season almost every year but they never even have a winning record.
  9. Sometimes the truth hurts. Maybe next year.
  10. I believe our girls will beat Lake County before the end of the season, hopefully when it matters most.
  11. Did anyone see Greenfield's coach trying to tell his team what defense to play in the 4th quarter? When they didn't do it, he yelled, "ARE YOU STUPID?" Wow! These young men deserve a little more respect and a better example than that, in my opinion.
  12. WOW! Do you like the sound of the keyboard typing or something?
  13. A coach asnwer his phone in a GAME? Is he so great he can talk on his phone and still get the W?
  14. What will be a good Melrose game to come to that will test them? It will be a 1:45 min drive so i want it to be worth while.
  15. What an idiot! Even if hes playing this year as his SR year he would still be one of the top ranked SR. This young man can play. His motor does not stop. He will do good at UT.
