  1. rtfielder1: "to bad all ya'll aren't considering all of TN-....i think ya'll need to stop voting for people just on your teams and in your arean and vote for the real top players in TN. " I agree, but maybe you might take a look at Father Ryan, they return almost everyone & finished 2nd in STATE last year. Just a thought...

    best centerfeilders

With Brandy Whalen(Centennial HS, Wild Things) out of the picture, I would echo that Ashley McCool is the best I've seen in the middle tennessee area. I am partial to her but she can cover some ground & will get even better with more time at that postition. She will be a nice catch for someone next year.
  3. Is this guarantee for this district only or for all districts? The team that won this district in 2001 only had 3 all district players. Several other districts have posted their lists on this thread, and I don't recall any other team with 6 players. And if there is indeed a six player guarantee, how did they get from 6 to 9? I do know that on MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, and Pitcher of the Year, there have occasionally been 2 selections (co-MVP, etc.), but not on a regular basis and I can recall only once in recent years that the two selections came from the two different divisions of the district and in many cases there was only one player selected. FPjunkie- I understand what you are saying. The way I understand it is each district sets up its on by-laws how it is to select the all-district teams. This particular district instead of the coaches voting for everyone, got so many based on their finish. In 2001 when the district was split in two division, each division winner got 3 which means they gave 6 in all for 1st place. What happened this year was that the MVP's was done separate, the winner got 3 MVP's by vote of coaches(not for winning the district, includes Co-MVP's), and 5 or 6 by winning the district. Not saying it was the best way of doing things, but is what I heard happened. [Edited by sbcoach on 10-14-02 1:12P]
  4. FPjunkie> One of the reason teams have so many that make the all-district is that the district in advance guarantee the district winner 6 all district players. In addition, all district awards are given in this district to MVP for defensive players, offensive players & pitchers. The year before, the district was split in 2 divisions & they gave 3 awards to each division winners plus the MVP's. The district is very quiet, I know of several players that were not told by their coaches that they had won the award. The district probably gives at least 20 all-district players, so there are quiet a few awards given, but it is kept quiet. I know the player that was undefeated in the regular season as a pitcher & she definately deserved to be one of the best players in the league. I didn't know she didn't make it and has been one of the top players in this area for some time. That district does a bad job of honoring these girls for their play & does not give them anything such as trophy, certificate, etc. like they do in other sports. Hope "TITLE IX" doesn't ever find out- [Edited by sbcoach on 10-14-02 8:01A]
  5. I don't think any of us can say what he was thinking, but this is a quote: "Thoes who have been around girls fastpitch for a few years will see the difference in club-K girls (vs) thoes who go else where. Pitchers and catchers are club-K specialitys and you can sure see the big difference in travel ball during the summer." Not much to argue about here what he is saying. It's ok to be proud of where you come from, but not to put OTHERS DOWN that don't do what is the NORM in your eyes. Club K does produce good talent, but the talent & desire is from within. If that talent is coachable, then you have someone that can go to another level. It's very important to search out a coach, whether your team's coach or somenone you pay to develop this talent & teach them skills & values on & off the field. What I really think you can see on the field is a player that has been coached & those that haven't been coached. I've heard people say that they can tell someone coached a certain player, but in reality that player could be coached by anyone, just eager to learn & play the game like it's suppose to be played. Not putting Club K down, they are great at what they do, just there are alternatives available.
  6. Megdog- I think you are right. He is one of the great guys in the business. I had a daughter go to him before. I've got another I would like for him to work with, he's really a super person. If you've been with him that long, you must be pretty good. Good Luck with your career!!
  7. Sbcoach, yeah, I know what you mean. We went to tournaments in Birmingham, Montgomery, Chattanooga, Germantown, etc. and saw excellent pitchers from Oklahoma, Louisiania, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, etc. that were as good if not better than any where else, so there are good instructors all over. Also, is Allison still taking lessons from Gary? FP, she still goes to him, she really likes him. We took a bunch off after the Nationals, have just started back the last couple of weeks. Does Heather still go to him any, or just to CK. I look for her to have a really good team this year & I think Andy will be glad to get back into the thick of things- Are you'all playing in a fall league? How's the competition?
  8. FPFanatic> BLUES. Just wondering what the difference NCjenks was talking about.
  9. Just wondering what the difference was between those that went to Club K & those that didn't. I saw a local team go to the ASA Nationals last year, 18-U, finished in the top 10 & no one on that team went to Club K. There were 3 pitchers, a catcher that did pretty good. They also were one of the best hitting teams in the tournament. Just wondering!!! [Edited by sbcoach on 10-7-02 12:49P]
  10. Brentwood High: Jessica Wilson, Allison Tyree, Kelly Major, Jennifer Jones, Lindsey Cavarra, Kristen Pitts, Aaron Sexton, Mary Lutz, Kelly Tyree Franklin High: Mary Smith, Lauren Weber, Karen Hargrove Centennial: Kari Gore, Brandy Whalen Overton: Courney Lidyard, Leah Lidyard, Lori Harris There are more, but at this moment, this is all that comes to me-
  11. Just wanted to congratulate the BRENTWOOD BLUES for their play in Rockford. I know the girls put in alot of hard work & made many sacrifices throughout the summer. we are proud of all of you & your parents for the job you did. Also, congratulations to "WILD THINGS". Tennessee can be proud of both teams. There was not much respect for softball in Tennessee & both clubs did quite a bit to change the opinion of several California, Arizona, Washington area teams. GOOD LUCK to those going off to college this year to the rest in High School. Coach
  12. The final standings have now been posted. GREAT JOB BLUES! http://softball.org/tournaments/natl_final...lts.asp?tid=221
  13. Nashville Eagles beat Extreme in 16's & Germantown beat Brentwood Blues in 18's
  14. The only other player signed that we have is Jessie Norman, Page high going to Tenn Tech. 7 of our girls are 15-16 years old, and all of them start. Thanks for the compliments!
  15. Thanks! Heather did a great job yesterday & has a great supporting cast. Good Luck to you if you land you another pitcher to help your staff. She really has a lot of courage. We are going to Marietta this weekend. Should be another challenge, but looking forward to the competition. I've always enjoyed playing Mike's teams in the past. Mike-Brentwood Blues, just a bunch of young stragglers in the middle tennessee area
  16. I'd like to congratulate the Challenger Express for their play last weekend. They were not only great in the field but were good competitors & sportsmen. Coaches have done a great job of getting some really good talent together. Good Luck this weekend & in the future. We look forward to watching & playing you again!
  17. Heard in Chattanooga last weekend where this coach was telling its players after a game they just lost to fight through the lost & do all they can to get better. Also, think again if you or your parents think that while you are sitting on the bench, there are college coaches out there watching & overlooking you because you aren't out in the field. While, in the real world, if you are sitting on the bench, chances are someone may be just as good or better playing in the field & you might NOT be really about to get that big time College scholarship. No one wants something given to you, just work hard & everything will work out. If there is politics on the team, get out as quickly & quieltly as you can & search out coaches that will teach & that are fair to ALL their players. In rec leagues, you are trying to learn but as you get older, find, search out teams that can take advantage of your talents. Some kids can play on a bunch of teams, but if you are searching for that team that is a winner, you might have to sit back & wait your turn. If that coach saw something in you before, he will use you, just be patient. [Edited by sbcoach on 6/4/02 7:12A]
  18. What area do you live & what positions to you play might be helpful for someone looking?

    NO SHOW UMPS!

Great report on tourney. The Elite organization is falling & just doesn't know it. Their registration & leagues are fading away with supervisors that have been around along time with no one coming to take their place. I think you are hinting that if they don't listen, won't need anyone to take their place. ASA tourneys seem very well unorganized for the most part & rules need to be adjusted. NSA & others are registering teams at a far greater pace. And you are right that $275 is tooooo much for what you get in return.
  20. Parker Eagles forfeited their last game Sat pm. 3 of the girls had parties to go to & let their teammates down. The girl from Pisgh rocked one to the FAR outside fence against Wright who was adjusting to the mound being closer. She'll get better & Eagles loaded with pitching, Meek, Swafford & others could dominate.
  21. Unicoi County is making a great run. Saw them last night, don't know a lot about them. Any info on Senior shortstop? Good Luck throughout the tourney-
  22. This may sound like a stupid questions, but why do peopel like me keep reading this thread. I think some point in time, it has to DIE! I think the thread has embarressed the original person enough who was just trying to add some excitement to their program & got lost in the atmosphere. Think about it, if it was you would you still want people to keep bringing it up. Just a thought!
  23. Dell- you said "As for all these crybaby/childish remarks I was repelling out of Blackhawks with an M-60 strapped to my back when some of you were still having to get your mammas to wipe your noses. I got your crybaby right here." I don't have a dog in this fight. In no way should this thread be going on for a almost a month, but if the games are for fun, so should these threads & your comments are way out of line. My girl reads these threads & the thread should be over if you get so emotional to use these words. A couple weeks ago there was a thread because some team was trying to distract it's team, making fun of. There may be no place for either, but all schools have administrators & they are responsible for the actions of it's spectators & announcers, coaches, players & even college kids that show up. If you have a beef, call the administrator /or TSSAA & if it does not meet their approval, they will act on it. Your coach has a procedure to go through if he/she has a problem with another team. Go through the system & allow it to work. The bottom line, no one in high school should be making fun of others. The TSSAA does not condone that & will act on it. TSSAA does not allow play-by-play in basketball or football if that is what they are doing, or coaching from a megaphone or sound system. Maybe this school has been embarressed & stopped, but if they have done something wrong, go through the system & let the system work. Best of luck through the remainder of the season. Lets all have fun-
