  1. This was Reids first year as Head Coach, but I am not sure how long he has been at Wb. Another thread says he is the new HC at Alcoa. Good luck to Coach Reid. He teaches PE at Wb.
  2. GovMan keep giving us the truth. I like the fact that you pull no punches. Ol'boy kinda got mad that you called Reid out. Let me asked this of you: Why would Reid not take the Alcoa job? Loads of talent and the chance to win a ring or two seem to be a pretty good reason to me. Can you promise the same at WB kma716325 or whatever your name is? And by-the-way, how do you remember that name anyways?
  3. Thanks. I think both programs need a little stability.
  4. Has Reis really been named at Aloca? Blue21 and GovMan what are you guys hearing? How many jobs has Gray turned down? I can think of about 4 or 5. I knew he wasn't going to take it. Who are some names to replace Reid if he leaves? Is there anyone on staff?
  5. not the jv but their were 4 freshman that started that do not ever play. and the jv goalie played
  6. i have seen blackman play in previous games and they are good. they will definately win district and region. they will make a good run at state. they didnt play well vs. farragut but they are better than what they showed that game. blackman is definately top 10 in state.
  7. how did blackman have it handed to them? they didnt start half their starting players due to a upcoming district week in which they play 4 district games. they had key injuries which they didnt want to make worse. fhs is good but they are not awesome.
  8. Let me change directions for a minute. What about Smyrna? I know they have never beatin a Murfreesboro team, but I think they have loads of talent and great coaching. What do you boro people think? Can they beat the boro three this year? I think they can. But I have thought that before and they have let me down. When will Smyrna beat a boro team? This year or next?
  9. I heard it from three more people today. Williams is it. Tell me if I am wrong, but I don't think I am.
  10. Thanks, I will check it later.
  11. Blue, What is your email address? If you don't want to give it out then email me at throw46@coacht.com
  12. I knew that about Fickert, but the booster person is news to me. Who was she a parent, coaches wife??? I really thought Mike White Jr. would be interested in that job. But I have not heard his name.
  13. Blue I was not trying to get on you. I was just saying that he will compensate for whatever talent he lacks. And yes I have been a victim of Riverdale for a long time and I know the size they have, but they are not always huge. For example... Joe Moos, John Beaty and lots who's name escape me as of now. Now lets get back to the subject at hand. What are you all hearing about the Maryville people interested in the job? I am a former Blount Countian (WB Class of '93) What is the problem at Wb that you all keep talking about with the funding etc?
  14. Rankin's Offense will work just fine at Alcoa. Riverdale doesn't exactly have huge o-linemen either. I don't think any of us need to tell him what to do. 7 out of 10 Clinic Bowl apperances.
  15. I hear it will be Steve Williams, former Head Coach at Smyrna. I believe he will also be an assistant football coach, possibly the D-coordinator. I think Steve is at Overton right now but I don't think he is coaching this year. Just what I heard don't take it to the bank yet.
  16. Very interesting, but Ron Gray has been a finalist for several jobs and backed out of all of them. GovMan thanks for the update. Blue you need to become a plus member you have lots of good info.
  17. Ceasar, I agree with you. But I also see why they do it. Coaches have been doing this for as long as they've been around. We all know a couple of guys on the Alcoa list are not interested in the job. Ron Gray has backed out of every job he's had a chance to get. He really likes to play this game. How many jobs has he applied for in the past 5 years? I can think of 5 of the top of my head. As far The Cheif up in the boro: Who are we kidding? Now I did here that he wants a challenge, but Alcoa isn't a challenge with the loads of talent they have every year. As for the 5 years experience thing I do not know if that is true or not. Being a former Blount Countian though, I really hope that Alcoa can get things squared away. Until then the Games will continue.
  18. I like to attack the 4-3 with the inside and outside zone, and speed option. Then of course comes the boot. If I see cover two in this look I love to throw what we call our Bow package. #1 goes vertical right now and chokes it down if he clears the corner, #2 goes flat right now. Qb has an easy read with the corner. If the corner turns his back to run with #1 throw the flat. If corner comes off #1 to #2 throw to #1 who will be "choking it down in the window. Of course you always have 4 verts against cover 3. I think the Ace set is the hardest set for a 4-3 cover 2 team to defend. I think the last thing 4-3 guys want to do is balance up because now there guys are playing different techniques. KMW50, are you going to see a lot of 4-3 next year?

    Title IX

    Good work pioneerman.

    Title IX

The problem that I have with titleIX is the way money is split. If I am not mistaken, only 30-40% of the money generated from football can be spent on football. Yet 100% of the football players count towards the total used to create "Equality" for women. Leave football out of it and I have no problem with it. The same law that applies to college athletics also applies to high school athletics. Lots of high schools are in violationof this law but for some reason it is not applied at the HS level. Deadhead, scholarships are given for accademics. You just don't have a national signing day for the smart ones. As a matter of fact I bet more are given for academics than for athletics. I don't know this as fact but am willing to bet it is a bit higher.
  21. Where is King College located?
  22. I don't know how you can run a 3-3 stack and still play cover 2. It is very dificult to control the flats vs two-wide to both sides. The 3-3 stack that I am talking about is really a 3-5 with either cover 3 or man free. Marcus Walls does it at Gallatin. He did the best job I have ever seen because he rolled into about 3 different coverages and confused the crap out of us. He made us think he was bringing everybody and then they'd bail. Ron Crawford has some nice answers also. But I still say that you have to run the ball to be successful in the spread.
  23. There is no difference between a 3-5 and a 4-4 as far as the sceondary is concerned. Both equal eight, so that leaves 3 deep correct? I was a little confused by Blue21's comment also. I have ran the spread and cover 3 and man-free were the only two coverages I saw. We did see a couple of snaps of Cover 2, but mostly in long yardage situations. I think the hardest thing to prepare for is the 3-3 Stack. It is very dificult to get angles because you don't know who is coming and who is bluffing. Blue is correct though as far as the FS is concerned. I think you have to throw the seam off of him to your inside recievers and make him wrong choose. But like Ela said: The key is to run the football. [Edited by throw46 on 2-20-03 10:02A]
  24. Nighttrain, Biscuit has fallen in love with the wing-t. He is just afraid to admitt it until he leaves the state. No just kidding, he told me he was going to run the wishbone. Since he is from Riverdale you know he hates to throw the ball (kinda like you). Whatever he decides to do you know it will be no-huddle because he is in love with that concept also. What about it Biscuit? How close am I?
