  1. I am really ashamed to see someone get here and use the English language, the way some people do. If you don't know how to talk, spell, use proper grammar and punctuation, GET OFF. I don't know who should be embarrassed, the coaches, the teachers, or the parents. I hope MT Christian doesn't claim to be a private school of great academic prowess, because if they do, they have a long way to go.
  2. LL, Just a little grits, little hot water, pat of butter, mix it together = good breakfast. Thanks for the good luck, but I don't know why you offer me good luck.
  3. Looks to me as if the top 10 list has at least 1 POTENTIAL team. Meaning, they had great potential before the season started and lost to someone else in the top 10. Reward teams that are 1-0 before you reward a team with potential and a loss. Halls deserves to be there, but not Powell and Fulton.
  4. redbyrd84, Which coaching staff are you referring to, Central's or Halls, as being rounder. If my memory serves me correct, it doesn't look like either staff passes up any free meals. If you are a Halls fan, good luck to the Big Red on Friday night. I would give up cooking hominy grits just to see the Devils win (and I have them every morning). The lady in RED
  5. midTNqb12, How were your stats? Sounds like you had a good game, but your linemen were at fault this week, last week it was the WR's dropping balls. How was your running game and kick return game this week? They must have kicked away from your returner. Good Luck the rest of the season>
  6. Hey midTNqb12, We have not heard from you in the past few days, what's up? Looked in the paper for the score of your game last week and certainly it was wrong. Has your coach banned you from posting on here? Just remember, there is always a bigger bear in the woods, and he is just as hungry as you are.
  7. sneakypete, Go back and look at your predictions. Which one are you going with, Red Devils by 7 or Red Devils by 11. I guess that in the 3 1/2 hours since your first prediction you had a revelation that the Devils suddenly got 4 points better. I bet my last batch of hominy grits the Red Devils win this, hopefully in a big fashion. Go you Red Devils Go.
  8. mdtnqb12, Don't let mjguru get to ya. He always finds someone to attack on here. Congrats on your big win over Zion last week. Just a little food for thought, don't get on here and say that your next game should be a win vs. anybody. Games are played on Friday nights not on CoachT. Every team has a chance to win no matter who they are playing.

redbud84, What kind of drugs are you on. Clarksville Academy hasn't won a football game since Moby Dick was a minnow.
  10. redupset, You sound like you don't want the red devils to spend very much time in Memphis. Thought you were a true blue fan, but guess your not. Why do you say Halls is on the down hill slide - they came back and beat D-B on Friday. Wednesdays game v. Fairygut meant little except for bragging rights, momentum, home field advantage for last Fridays game. (Halls has made it to the state twice in the last 8 years and both times they beat D-B in Kingsport) Let the cheering , clapping, chanting begin
  11. feet, Not trying to bash you BUT, 40-east goes to North Carolina. Your right Fariygut goes to Memphis again, as does Halls. But I will give Fairygut credit, till Halls beats them they can't talk the talk. Formerdevil12, You going to Memphis to cheer on the Devils? Might see you there, if I can get off work.
  12. feet, They may make fun of them for their spirit (clapping, cheering, chanting), but they can't make fun of the fact they are headin' down I-40 west bound again!!!
  13. hhsgirl, Tonights game is unimportant as far as the big picture is concerned. A win will mean another home game on Friday and bragging rights in Knox County. The game of importance will be Friday night. Halls will have a great chance of beating Fairygut if the bats will wake up and they play good defense.
  14. How many Farragut baseball players also play football? It seems all of the noes mentioned, play only baseball. Therefore, they can play fall ball and begin workouts for HS baseball in Nov, Dec, Jan. Most of the Maryville athletes mentioned, didn't finish football until Dec. 4th. That in itself puts them way behind schools that have baseball players only. The exception is Knox Halls. They have many baseball players that played football. Guess the reason is either they are better at baseball or the coaching is better.
  15. lcbborn, I tend to agree with some of what you said - but college and pro baseball is like comparing apples to oranges. Both get paid to do what they do. Now, I know college players don't get money in their pockets the way pros do, but they are on scholarship. They get their school paid for (at least some of it). All I'm trying to say is, what is wrong if your team cheers, chants, claps for their teammates? I don't think there is anything wrong with it. Now if they are making fun of an opponent, then that is bush league, classless, tasteless. Also, the comparison to not having water at practice, was common some years ago. I was simply trying to say that things change as time moves forward. Did you ever see pro players, back in the 50's put their hats on inside out (rally hats)? I didn't and I watched the game of the week every Saturday it came on. But since the colleges started doing it in the late 70's/80's, now it happens in the pros. I hope all the teams that make it to Memphis, show their school spirit. Don't care if they clap, cheer, chant - just show pride in your programs success, in any way your COACH allows you to do it, just don't direct it toward an opponent.
  16. LCborn, You are right, no where in the rules does it say you can't chant. Why do you call it bush league? I think the reason is because you probably weren't allowed to do that when you played. My hubbie told me when he played football in high school, they couldn't drink water during practice. My point is this, times change, people change. What if Farragut, Collierville, Clarkesville High, and other top ranked teams from the state all make it to the show in Memphis and they all clap, chant, whatever (as long as it's not directed toward an individual player on the opposing team). Soon it would become the norm instead of the exception. Sports should be FUN. Let the kids have fun! Nothing wrong with spirit being shown - just don't allow a team to single out an opposing player - limit their spirit to their own players. As you can tell by my moniker, I'm just a cranky old hag that loves to see kids have fun show their spirit and win.
  17. Last time I looked, they won a few games last year - AAA runnerup to Farragut.
  18. Where in any rule book does it say that a team in any sport can't show their spirit by cheering, clapping, chanting. The only sports I know of that don't like noise when someone is playing is golf and tennis. If you will remember the U.S. Open a few years ago in New York, people complained about the "rowdy" fans. What in the name of hominy grits is wrong with high school players cheering their teammates on. Oh, I know, it's because it hasn't been done that way before. For my 2 cents worth, I say let them cheer and show their spirit and pride. NOW, if they are insulting a player from another team, now that gets into disrespect. Doug Polston is class through and through. He knows the rules like the back of his hand. He had every right to protest the game. What would happen if he came out to protest and then his team made a comeback and won the game outright. Nothing, the protest would have been null and void. But he does have the right to protest. No different than a police officer giving you a ticket for speeding and you going to court to challenge the ticket. You have every right. E.O.D.
  19. Pennington graduated in 1995. Huskey played on the '96 team that won the state. Eventually ended up playing baseball at C-N.
  20. CoachT, Best wishes for you and your family through these times. Our prayers are with you.
  21. Didn't Cleveland win three in a row (93, 94, 95)?
  22. vol24, You are close to being right. In Georgia the GHSA gets 12% of the gate off the top. Next the officials get paid their game fee and travel expenses off the top. Next the visiting team gets $4 per mile one way that they travel. Last but not least the two teams split 50/50 the remainder of the money. This year the semi-final games are the same weekend as Tennessee semi's. On Friday you have a 1a, 2a, 3a, both 4a semi's. On Saturday you have the same except you have both 5a semi's. Georgia also has limits on where playoff games can be held - stadiums have to seat a certain amount of people, i.e. 5A games have to seat 8,000. In addition if two teams tie in the championship game, both are declared co-champs. Also in all playoff games are assigned by the GHSA, same as TSSAA, and there will be 6 man crews. The four teams from each region are put into four seperate brackets - therefore you could possibly have two teams from the same region play for the state title. No, this is not msgov posting but the "other half" Maybe the T$$AA needs to go to Georgia and get help with the playoff system and how they distribute the money. Seems the T$$AA could learn from others.

    CARTER VS HALLS

qbsdad, Quick facts: Powell - played Webb, Mo East, Karns, South-Doyle. Private playoffs, Carter also played, 5A playoffs, Halls also played but 5A. Central - Greeneville, Wm Blount, McCallie, Siegel. Down year, my beloved Govs will be back 5A, private #1 seed, 2 nd year program. Halls - Farragut, Sevier Co, South-Doyle, Red Bank. 5A playoffs, 5A playoffs, Powell also played, Region 4-4A champs. Carter - Fulton, Cocke Co, Mo East, Pigeon Forge. 3A - Defending champs, power house of Newport, also played Powell, 4th or 5th year program. Read the paper just minutes ago - 13-28-3INT'S-1TD-178 YDS., 1 int returned for a TD> Now don't get me wrong, every parent should be proud of their children, but to get on here and repeatedly brag about how your son is going to do this or that, I don't think is very smart. Let him be a teenager and prosper on his own - from everything I have read and by looking at his stats, he is a GOOD player. Let other people tell you how good he is and how well he played. I have heard a coach say time and again - it's actions not WORDS that count. You continually blast the coaches at Carter (i.e. the way we play D, we may need 50 - you only needed 24!) Predicted score - Carter 33 - Halls 28. Close boo-boo, but no cigar - you got part of both teams score correct - even though the paper had a misprint on page 1. Good luck in 3A ball next year - Hello Fulton, A-E, A-C. Enjoy the playoffs - the ticket price is still relatively cheap. And this is the hub not the lady. I just asked her to fire up the computer and let me look at some threads. Most of her info comes from me anyway, so I don't think Jim will mind!!! thumb thumb thumb (gig'em AGGIES)

    CARTER VS HALLS

qbsdad, Glad to see you have finally surfaced again. What are you talking about the BCS - this is HS football. What teams are you saying has weak opponents or patsies, as you call them?

    Playoff picture

Doesn't the TSSAA have all of the playoff pictures figured out yet. Thought all of the different possibilities should have been posted by now. Anyone have any information on all classes?
