  1. Been out of the loop for a while but the birds that flew by told me Maynord, Crawford, Britton, Wyant, Aydelott. In fact one of the above was offered, turned down, then called back with a change of heart. But was told too little, too late! Guess who?
  2. 1. New challenge 2. Additional schools in the 'Boro. 3. Retirement and ability to double dip financially. Not in any order, but if it were #3 would go upward to the top spot.
  3. Why don't you ask Coach Stephens what the procedure is in the region?
  4. Wild Rooster seems to be in the know as far as all-region selections are made. My better half talked with some coaches and was told that is the method used by most regions. The top team gets the most players selected and the bottom team gets the least. The only selections VOTED on by the coaches are the MVP's (back, receiver, lineman, C.O.Y., etc.) How did this thread get off the mark so far from its original intent - Coach Stephens resignation?
  5. Rumor has it Coach Rankin interviewed or talked with BGA yesterday about the job. Does anyone know if this is correct or are rumors we hear in East Tenn. just that, rumors?
  6. This is a shocker, evidently even HTV didn't know this one was coming! I'm sure HTV can shed some light on this subject. I even think wild rooster reported this back before Christmas, but HTV said, no way, he had spoken to Coach Stephens and he told him he was not going to resign. What a tangled web we weave!!!
  7. I would guess the decision was made by the coaches in your region. Take it up with your individual coach and ask him how things were voted on and how decisions were made.
  8. Don't know much about your situtation, but I would guess it has a lot to do with space and people showing up. What would happen if 100 parents said they would attend and then they didn't make it for what ever reason? How would you pay for the left over food? The only solution would be to prepay and then you would have parents that would want their money back if they couldn't make it. This method of just coaches and players sounds like a GOOD way of doing things.
  9. 1new wildcat fan, There are good quality programs across this state that don't have middle school football. In fact, right here in Knoxville, we don't have middle school football. The problem is finding good quality middle school coaches or community park coaches that want to work and teach the right skills the right way. Hard, but not impossible, to accomplish.
  10. For some of us that live outside of the Clarksville area, what in the world is going on over there?
  11. HTV, Are you blaming the defense for some of the losses in the past few years? Or are you blaming the coaches and/or players for having "defensive lapses", IYO?
  12. I would seriously doubt he will spend more time with his family with recruiting and all of the other details that come with the job.
  13. Professional athletes can play sports for a college, just not the same sport in which they play professionally.
  14. The better question might be is there an NCAA rule on how many all-star games an individual can play? I have never heard of this game until I read it in the News-Sentinel. I wonder how Max Emfinger decides who to invite to play in this game?
  15. What? Are you saying that the TWSA All-State team is no different from the TFCA team. Everyone was complaining about the coaches team and now you tell me the sportwriters have also screwed the pooch. And now you say there is not AP team. Who can we blame for all of this?
  16. Agree on Galyon. He had an outstanding year and rightly deserved any and all honors awarded for the 2005 season.
  17. HIV, Shocked to not see the name of Lee Smith on the TSWA All-State team. Bet UT is shocked also. I do think the kid has talent, but he carries a lot of baggage. Sat down over the weekend to read The Shopper and the Powell News. Saw where Lee and Darryl gave Fulmer the thunms up for hiring Coach Cut. I think they both said that sealed the deal for them in going to UT. By the way, I guess everything's good in Clarksville. I will call down there to find out and get you information on how everything is going if you want. Gotta go fix the hub some breakfast - I let him sleep in this morning.
  18. wildrooster, Where have you been? You haven't been on here in a month of Sunday's. Where did you here this rumor? If this is true, then who will they get to replace Coach Stephens? Are you ready for some H _ _ _ _ P _ _ _ _ 's?
  19. lifer and catback, If your coaches sent in their nominations, then they would probably been selected for inclusion. Don't sit back and say they were working on winning the state championship, if my sources are correct, they have had the entire month of November to take 5-10 minutes to gather stats and fax to the person in charge. It's just like complaining about a player not being selected for a post-season all-star game when the coach didn't nominate him. The fault still lies with the coach!!! In my opinion, the bigger travesty is the Associated Press not assembling an All-State team this year. Hopefully, this is not true.
  20. If what goforthegoal is saying is correct, what is pathetic, is coaches across the state not sending in their nominations for all-state. I can understand coaches playing for the gold ball not being there for the voting, but not "having time" to send in nominations over a 3-4 week period. Come on give us a break! That looks like pure old fashioned laziness to me.
  21. Sharp, Segers, and a host of Juniors will lead the Devils to victory. Just add another notch in the belt.
  22. HTV, How do they come up with the all-region team? Do the coaches vote on players or is there some predetermined number of players that come from each team? After looking at the selections, it seems the higher you finish in the region, the more players you have selected. Can you shed some light? Have a Happy Holiday Season.
  23. pepvol You are 1 for 2. Maryville is a great football team with a great coaching staff. since Fullmer lives in Maryville, maybe he should get with GQ and find out how he does things. Don't remember GQ ever going 5-6 AND losing to someone as lowly as the Commodores. ROCK BOTTOM FOR THE VOLS!
  24. How about Steve Brewer as the new head coach. Knoxville native, all of his children have finished playing HS football, great man, great coach, class deluxe.
  25. Why does Ga. draw more people? 1. They play 10 games in 2 days INSIDE the Ga. Dome. Ga. is way ahead of Tn. in their thinking in terms of playoffs and money paid and taken from gate receipts. Mr. Carter needs to visit with the state people in Ga. and take notes.
