  1. 95 stang, I have not personally seen Spears coach, but he must be awesome to be compared to Finney!!!!! I do hear though that Jones is not doing very good coaching his left-fielder!!
  2. I need some predictions!! Someone needs to go out on a limb and pick a long-shot. I believe that Pisgah AL and Soddy are playing a game today. If anyone gets the results, please post them. I know that several of the teams in the tourney have already played each other. Can these games be used as an early predictor? Coffee has beaten Beech and Hendersonville Beech has beeten Lipscomb, Goodpasture, and Coffee Goodpasture has beaten Coffee and Lipscomb (pre-season) Clay-Chalkville has beaten Pisgah Ezell and Goodpasture are playing today Have any of the other teams played each other? I need predictions and results of the Ezell/Good and Soddy/Pisgah games!!!
  3. It is true that Maryville was invited to the Tourney, but already had prior commitments. This was partly due to us getting the tournament up so late. This is the first year for the tourney, so I would say that the lineup is pretty stout. Next year we have commitments from several more KY, AL teams and possible teams from VA and NC. Other teams that could not make the tourney were Davidson, BA, Dickson Co. I think I contacted Father Ryan, but am not sure. We do not have an abundance of fields and wanted each team to play at least one game on our high school field. Over 100 invitations were sent out to various colleges over TN, KY, GA, and AL. Every SEC school was also contacted. We are having a coaches social on Fri. night. Colleges are in the middle of their season so it is difficult for some to come. College coaches who plan to be in attendance include: Arkansas, UTC, Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, NC State, Louisville, various NAIA and JUCO. MTSU has a game, but is sending someone. Again, this tourney was kind of a last minuite idea, but we worked hard to do it the best. Next year, we would like to have somewhat of a combine on Thur. night for seniors to make the tourney better. If anyone has any ideas for this weekend to help make the tourney better, please post and let me know. Another thing, can we get Coach T to come to Manchester for some photos and PR? Please post so that I can get in touch. You can also come to the Coaches social. Call Coffee Co. High and ask for Coach Breeden or Coach Finney. 4. Exception!!!!!! If you are a college coach of an SEC or top 25 program, there will an extra room at ERA's house. Don't hurry, Just call him!!
  5. Who are the early favorites for what is expected to be one of the best tournaments of the year? At a later date, I will post some games and times for those who are interested in watching some great softball. Participants include: Boyd-Buchanan, Soddy Daisy, Ezell, Lipscomb, Coffee, Beech, St.Bennedict, Goodpasture, Hendersonville, GPS, Hoover AL, Pisgah AL, Clay-Chalkville AL, Owensboro Catholic KY, Terry MS, and East Central MS. Each team will have three pool games that will not affect seeding into a single elim. tournament. Every team is top-notch from their state, so the quality of ball should be high. Early prediction: Soddy can be beaten on an one game basis, but will be hard to beat in the later rounds. If not beaten in the first round of the tournament, expect Soddy to be around due to pitching. Do not know lots about the out of state teams except that they are the best from their state. Great teams have an opportunity to lose four games this weekend!!!!!! [Edited by TopGun1 on 3-30-03 12:50P]

    Rankings

Here are some early rankings: 1. Soddy ( great team and pitching depth = tournament team) 2. Beech ( same as above) 3. Coffee ( great team, good pitching, hard to beat in single) 4. Goodpasture ( great team, speed, good pitching) 5. Lipscomb (solid defence, best pitcher, lack of "O"
  7. Three names left off the list: Beth Alexander (East Ridge) Annie Sells sp ?(Notre Dame) Holly Burris ( Germantown Houston) Favorite Matchup: Miles (Hendersonville) vs. Catalano (Coffee) Catalano is one of the top pitchers in my opinion. She has beaten everyone on these lists that she has played. Best present pitchers: 1. Megan Rhodes: Lipscomb 2. Ashley Frizzell: Soddy 3. Falon Catalano: Coffee 4. Danielle Peroni: Goodpasture There is also a girl from a very small private school in Chatt. who can throw the heat! Another left-hander from Richland who is good.
  8. BigA52, Despite what many may think, there are a few people in Manchester that have some smarts. I will give it to you that there are many who are dumb. I wish you well in whatever you may do. Coach Olive and his staff do a great job!!! Before making a generalized question about CC football, do some research yourself rather than going by hearsay. I am going to jump on the bandwagon with go-car in saying that you need some help with your spellin'. I know a senior English teacher at Tullahoma that will straightn' ya up. Maybe it is best you went there.
  9. Tullahoma should be good next year. They have great coaches and a great program. One of their strengths next year should be the junior offensive lineman that transferred there from Westwood last year. He was an All-American in Jr-high, ditched his friends in Manchester, did not play varsity last year and made fun of some of his friends at Coffee County, who played as sophomores, after the close game at Tullahoma. He should contribute to the team next year since he knows so, so much about Coffee County football. Under the name BigA52, he even posted a thread asking about the coach he ditched. Good Luck next year Cutshaw, you are a real winner.
  10. Many schools in middle TN should be jumping to grab Coach Breeden. If they look at the last two coaches that left Coffee to coach in high school, Ron Crawford and Lebron Ferguson, they would see a pattern. Two years after leaving with a losing record, they win state championships, Riverdale and Oakland. It is true, Breeden did not win many games. He inherited a team with 25 inexperienced players, restarted the freshmen program, got the number of players up to 80. He is now beginning to play with players he has brought up through the program. I am sure that if he is man enough to stay through the misery for 13 years any good coach would respect his loyalty to a program. 11. Sounds like an interesting situation. When is the head coach supposed to be announced? How will spring practiced be conducted? Is there a weightroom in place for spring workouts? It seems that the sooner a coach is named, the sooner players can move in the direction that will best fit them. Will the new coach begin work immediately at the new school or will he have to conduct business after hours? Seems like an exciting challenge for the new man!! I hope that the delay does not hinder players from helping build a new program.
  12. Originally, we wanted to bring in 8-10 out of state teams. Due to prior engagements, proms, and number of games other state associations allow, we were forced to add several extra Tennessee teams. I still think the tournament will be very competitive. Again, special thanks to Worth and Schutt for sponsoring the tournament. The following 16 teams will be attending the tournament: TN- Coffee County, Ezell-Harding, David Lipscomb, Goodpasture, Soddy Daisy, GPS, Boyd Buchanan, Beech, Hendersonville, St. Benedict AL- Hoover, Pisgah, Clay-Chalkville KY- Owensboro Catholic MS- Terry, East Central
  13. Goingdeep, Cannon 10 is only an 8th grader. She is an outstanding young talent. She could start at catcher for several teams in our district. You can rate her arm strength by her login name. CANNON!! Good posts Cannon 10.
  14. Titans 21, You seem to have an inside scoop on the whole situation. Maybe you should take a stand and gather some people together to help keep Coach Breeden around. This would be the best thing for the programs: softball and football. Before you present this information, you may need to take some grammar classes to help enhance your presentation!!

    8-AAA

Goingdeep, Due to the fact that you are familiar with District 8 AAA, I would like to ask several questions. How many times has Shelbyville won the district? Who has won the district every year except 1998 and 2001? I can help you out with those two years. In 98, Columbia won the district, but Coffee won the region and finished third in the state. In 01, lets just say that Coffee had the best team in the state with only two overall losses. So I will go out on a limb and pick Coffee to win the district again, while agreeing with you that Toombs and Bush are two of the district's elite.
  16. ERA, The web site looks great!! This should be the best tournament of the year. In addition to the AL and KY teams, I think there will be at least one team from MS.and one team from VA. in the tournament. The level of play should be great. Should be a shootout!!!
