  1. I haven't heard that but I think Winfree may feel he is too close to retirement.
  2. Word is it will not be Winfree per his choice.
  3. Hey smart guy...were you around in 1995? How would you know what was needed at that time? Parents not involved with the kids' school and life has led to the inner-city problems. In 1995 Brentwood had a coach the was a good guy but was in over his head. As example after a particular game where the opposition ran a particular play he was asked why we did not make an adjustment. He stated there was no need to make an adjustment as the other coach will make a counter adjustment and you are back where you started. Yes the parents asked for a change and got it. If you will read ALL of my statement you will notice I said the coach dictated the parental involvement and it was constantly monitored with him. We asked them what we could do to allow them more time to do the important part of their job. We took over lining the field, mowing, etc. We handled the fund raising so they didn't have to hound the kids to raise the money. At the time the only parental involvement was a few, not many, of the parents came on Friday night. We only had an 8 page program so some of the parents got the paper and print time donated, lined up a photographer, and sold the ads. Prior to this "involvement" Brentwood wa 2-18 in 1995 and 1996....since then they have several regional championships, a state championship, and has been to the playoffs every year. There has only been 2 coaches during that time and Crawford was the senior coach in the county so the "parental involvement" was not too big a burden. Maybe you need to learn the difference between involvement and support.
  4. My information comes from one of the 4 prople that was on that committee, and the committee that hired Crawford......me. My info is pretty accurate. At no time did Ron say he did not allow input but since he was at Hillsboro you could tell he did not cherish it. The biggest concern with Ron was he was dedicated to the wing T and we had Whittemore and company in the wings. If Jack D had not accepted Ron would have had the opportunity. I'm not sure he actually wanted it since we had to send him messages 3 times to get him to even apply. It is the coach's responsibility to dictate how much parental involvement is wanted/allowed and it is the parent's responsibility to stay within that boundry. We were very careful to stay that course with Jack and Ron Crawford's initial years. The big problem with Brentwood prior to Jack was actually NO parental involvement or interest.
  5. You would be hard pressed to find anyone that thought Brentwood was a premier program prior to 1997. That is why Jack D was hired. The University of Alabama, for whatever reason, will not play Alabama Birmingham but that hardly has kept them from being considered a premier program. By calling these jobs premier I believe he/she meant they were the best jobs in the system.
  6. I am not him but it is FACT....you are wrong about several of your facts.
  7. I'm not sure where you get your information but I assure you Coach Adeylot was not passed over for that reason. I am "very" close to a member of that search/interview committee and Jack Daniels was selected because of who he was and his style fit the players ability that were on the team. Brentwood would have been very satisfied with Coach Adeylot and he would have been a great hire....just not as good as Jack D was. You should not post things on here of which you obviously know little about.
  8. Forgive me but I believe Brentwood and BA never met before BA went DII. Before that Brentwood was 3A and 4A andf BA played in the top bracket 5A at the time. Their first meeting was in 1995 I believe.
  9. Of course it's not coincidental,it's by choice on the player's and his parent's part, but that doesn't mean it was done against the rules. It is not coincidental I live in Williamson County. I spent extra money to live here for the education system many years ago....by choice. Kids go to schools of their choice, if it means enough to the to go the effort, for many reasons. Some times it is because of a coach, an educational program, etc. If done correctly it's not illegal. Nothing wrong with being a duck if there's nothing wrong with being a duck.
  10. "....money can buy"....come on guy. Have at least a Little class.
  11. Thanks for having my back coachrus. I've been around a long time....my sons played FB at a local prominent high school on successful teams. I am also a fan of a VERY successful college football team and have seen/heard the PE(hope you know what that is) for many years. The have not's always want to tear down the have's instead of doing what is necessary to put their own at that position. My oldest son's teams went 0-10 and 2-8 but some people got involved and made it happen. They could too.
  12. For someone so knowledgeable I'm surprised you aren't aware a high school coach can't have players on his AAU team after they reach I believe 12 years old. My grandson is 16 so he was on other AAU teams....granted he played with some of his current team mates but that was by choice. My guess is it is quite all right if other high school coaches use their own time to coach AAU if they chose to.
  13. I have no need to kid myself nor anyone else. If making the situation attractive for a kid to want to be a part of the team/school and is within the TSSAA rules so be it. Hardly recruiting.
  14. My grandson is on that team and he plays there because of the quality of coaching and was not recruited.Good coaching does not need recruiting....maybe your team should try it.
  15. I understand CPA beat the nationally ranked team from Orange, CA yesterday. Anyone have the story/particulars?
  16. Your turn....it is "If you're going....."
  17. It wasn't a cheap shot just both players going hard for the ball. I believe it was called due to the extremely long pause in the action. It took the EMT's an awfully long time to get there. The outcome of the game was never in question.
  18. "da haven" is in West TN......better check history before spouting off too much.
  19. You might try dumping the fake ebonics and turn your hat around......just sayin'.
  20. Looks like RebelD done hittin'......gonna be sittin'!
  21. So according to opinion on this board of many if an option offense is run the QB can be hit at any time in the play from any direction. I guess that makes him the only person on the field that can be hit from behind, several yards from the play action, several seconds after he last touches the ball. Heck....he probably doesn't even have to touch it to be a viable target. I hope each of your sons plays QB some day.
