  1. I thought Devin was from Blackman and Kim had a change of address which might have not have happened if they were feeling the love but everyone loves her now!!!
  2. The article I read and other articles I have read offer no definitive reasons for the occurence being higher in girls than boys.I chose not to get into the debate earlier because I have read and even talked to an orthopedic surgeon and the jury is still out.Strength conditioning has been talked about as one of the causes for the greater incidence among females and I didn't want to debate the issue without sound facts to back up those assertions. One article I read suggested that because of the different biological makeup between the sexes ,females are more prone to the injury because the excercises make them more rigid and likely to the tears of the ACL and MCL.The article I read in the USA Today stated people who are pigeon toed, knockneed stand back on their legs and are dispropoitionately top heavy are more prone to the injuries. The excercises that were mentioned in the article were aimed at preventing the injury specifically.I wish i still had it.
  3. I sent congrats out to HL for the win over McGavock. I have no sympathy nor do I care to hear how Mt. Juliet plays youth off of the bench especially since they beat a senior laden Hillsboro team three yrs ago. Then they started two sophs and three frosh. If those girls aren't ready then blame the coach, fire him ,and send him to Metro.

  5. There was an interesting article in USA today in 2004 talking about ACL injuries ,who is most likely to have one and exercises to help prevent them.I had it and gave to someone else who lost the article .Does anyone remember this or happen to still have a copy.
  6. Trenisha is well traveled but she is not a discipline problem and I don't know when you last saw her play but defense for her is a strong point as is her hustle and rebounding .To say she shoots it all the time like Iverson is a misstatement. When she gets on the court and doesn't play the way you predict I hope you will be Big Chief enough to come on here and say you were wrong.IF she doesn't then I will givbak my accolades.
  7. I have not seen Bellamy play high school ball although I have seen her play AAU the past three years, what position does she play and where will she play in college? I don't think she and Bianca really would play the same roles on their respective teams.I remember Bianca as being more versatile and able to pretty much play all the postions in high school if needed and Latoya more of a wing and post player she has cannons for arms.
  8. White's Creek seems to have all the peices to make a very successfull season I don't know what happened to them this weekend but maybe this will let them know just how hard they have to work and how disciplined they need to be to excel.Glencliff in my opinion overacheived last year.Carolyn Mills is a great player and even better person, but I am not sure if they can get back to where they were last year in terms of beating the top teams they probably will struggle to make it to the regionals.I know they have a few other talented players on the team but are still lacking and undersized inside.
  9. Hey Turtle, if this girl is in fact your kid right now you are a liability to her in the eyes of college recruiters. The local ones hear about stuff like this and may want her but not you.It doesn't sound like you are helping her cause.
  10. Gibson is a player who knows the game well and won't let you just score on her all night without doing something about it. I woudn't say that she is dirty unless you call pulling a shirt or something minor like that dirty. I don't think she would take another player out deliberately. With a ol' man with a nickname like Rocky you'd expect her to be tough.
  11. MJ and Beyond I know Christian and Trenisha well enough to be able to say it is a wash, and I don't think the Lady Bears need you to start making excuses for them that is why I mentioned Trenisha in the first place. And yes both teams are missing these two girls leadership abilities as well as their play on the court.
  12. Trenisha is good and will bring stability, defense and scoring to an already solid team...Congrats to Coach Trabue and Hunters Lane for pulling off the upset over McGavock.Iwas not at the game but heard McGavock had the game in hand but a little early celebration cost them to lose focus and the game.Tough way for them to lose but a good way to teach a well needed lesson.
  13. She is a transfer and will be eligible before Christmas
  14. I guess Gib being out for MJ just made things even because McGavock wouldn't have had all those turnovers if Trenisha had been able to play she is a senior guard starter also.
  15. I know most of the MJ girls and didn't mean any disrespect I saw the freshman play last year so i would imagine its most of the same girls.Ialso have been around and involved in high school sports for longer than r oneal 27 probably realizes but the past need not determine how we treat the present or the future.
  16. I predict MJ to win the Leroy Wright Tourney and here is why.Mt. Juliet is a year round school and Coach Frye keeps them involved in some sort of activity whether it is conditioning or making not shooting 200 3pointers a day. These girls are far ahead of Nashville teams as far as team chemistry goes. They have played in pretty much the same system since middle school. The Metro coaches don't have time to work on alot of fundamentals they generally work on their plays and defenses. That is why you see high school players still jumping off the wrong foot for layups.Mt. Juliet does not have the athletic players who are cat quick, but Metro does, but too many are lacking fundamentally.I disagree with the thought that our girls are victims of politics and don't have the resources to get better. We need to stop placing blame and start doing a better job at preparing our kids by getting them involved at earlier ages and making sure they get the support needed to succeed ,whether it is AAU ,mentors, changing schools or whatever.MJ will probably beat McGavock now but not later in the year after these girls have played together for awhile.
  17. Metroman I think there are many more girls overlooked than it seems,Imust have talked to the same college coach you did because I've heard that before but I am seeing more and more area colleges pass up Tn. talent for girls of lesser talent.I know a lot of schools don't like to recruit locally because they want the kid away from a possible controlling or heckling parent. Candace Lightford class of 04 from NSA and played at Pearl-Cohn is a sophomore at Vanderbilt she must be good enough to get a scholarship because she walked on and made the team this year. She is a Seventh Day Adventist which limits her weekend availability she never played Friday nites at Pearl Cohn and Vandy respected that and still wanted her. The lack of exsposure hurt her chances of getting similar offers. The Pal league offers a girls league,Coleman COmmunity Center plays in one and the YMCA North has had one in the past I am not sure about now.
  18. I think the girls situation is worse than the boys because they are more competitive due to the fact they have more outlets to play and get better. The girls in Metro for the most part start playing ball at a older age and have to play catch up thru their high school years .They don't have places they can go and play pickup games against other girls on a regular basis. Most Metro girls only play ball during the school season. There is a lack of developing girls at the younger ages. There are a few leagues around town that have all girl leagues for the younger ages, but most parents don't know about them or would rather their daughters become cheerleaders until the child grows to six feet tall then they try and shove the ball down their throat.Memphis does a good job at the rec and AAU basketball.A lot of our beloved high school coaches should carry some of the blame. In the county schools the coaches work together with the rec leagues and the middle schools and the AAU programs to develope a farm system so they know they have a steady stream of players. We have no such communication here.Instead we have coaches saying they don't like AAU in spite of the fact most of their better players benefit from playing in the off season.
  19. McGavock will be much harder to plan for with the addition of three new players each of whom can really play. One 5'11" post (Codye) who is very strong and can shoot the three:A lefty 2 guard( Ashley Porter) who plays like a 5'4" Rhonneisha Taylor and Trenisha Benton a can do it all G/F.Ndidi won't have to be awesome every night,McGavock has the best starting five in the region and could go undefeated in district play.Mills vs Mooney comes down to Mooney having better game knowledge and being a better all around player. If she was playing for a school like Glencliff or Maplewood she would shoot more and score more and this conversation about who is better wouldn't be taking place.Mills is a very good offensive player and a good rebounder. She has major D-1 ability but needs to play hard all the time and show her total game on a more consistent basis.
  20. In my opinion McGavock is clearly the team to beat in12AAA. In 11AAA look for Hillsboro to repeat. These two teams meet Dec.1st .As much as I love C. Mills,Ndidi Madu will be the dominant player in 12 AAA and Jessica Mooney in 11AAA.White's Creek is just as talented as either of these two teams so it would not be a upset if they emerge as the the best team in region 6 AAA.
  21. Congrats to you KeKe,I look forward to you making a difference at MTSU. Coach Insell no one has to tell you how big a signing this is, KeKe has proven thru competition she can score in the post even on the big girls across the country.
  22. Hillsboro has a lot of team confusion that seems to be getting worse . The interim coach is a nice guy but won't be able to increase morale or ease mounting parental concerns and the kids are frustrated and will under perform this yearas a result .
