  1. Good to hear from you Rider! Had a run of bad luck...couple of breakfast burritos and several change of pants lead to flat tires and not a sign of Hite anywhere. The reasoning is too blow out the arms early so the Tommy John surgery will benefit us when we make the NABFUSSAABCA National title runs when they are 12 thru 14. By then they will hate baseball and we can take up lawn darts and mumbly peg. What do think? What instrument does Slyder play? See you later and GO BWAVES AND CU.
  2. Has anyone seen or heard from Slyder? Probably out scouting or teaching the game. Let me know please, trying to form a 5U team that uses drop 3's and plays 90 foot bases and 60 foot mound and really need his input.
  3. Bombs, Is the fella that teaches Trigomometry and Geomometry, Rusty Harriman maybe, still helping with baseball at LHS? Best I can remember, He played at Ulagog High School in Oklahoma before being a taxi driver who trained people to use curvy knives. Then played at CU before coming to LHS. He had a mean mustache and was once an outstanding hind-catcher if it is the same fella. E5

Options as I see it: Make him a left-handed hind-catcher. Drop him down and make him a submariner. Teach him to field ball and put an Iron Mike out with him to throw it. If he can do neither...lawn darts or javelin catcher are some good choices.

This is my 15th year in the mid-state and that may be the first rule you have ever got right. Congratulations! See you this Spring.

    How many is too many?

REDSMAN, My bad on the hind-catcher...I was trying to be newfangled. As far as pick-offs, keeping the first baseman off balance on picks is always the best method. We have replaced our fencing behind first base with some Pitch-Back netting to aid him on retrieving the pick that is thrown towards the back corner of bag in hopes of hitting the runner's hand. Ours will back back to him or our left fielder who charges two pitches early to get into position. Picks at second with LHanded middle infielders is easy for the shortstopsman whose glove is there, but a bit tricky for the secondbaseman. He must either backhand the throw or straddle the bag and try to catch it between his legs. We use a t-shirt shooter to practice this skill. The only issue with the glider is when you drop to one knee to early to throw it, the runner may get a good jump. We just have our hind-catchers scream "look out," jump in front of the batter to throw to third.
  7. REDSMAN and I was talking last night and need some advice on how many different pitches you should master if your best fastball is between the old national speed limit (55) and ccriders IQ (74)? REDS has come down with his annual flare up of carpal tunnel vision syndrome and can't type or see when he drives his car into a dark tunnel in the dead of the night without his lights on. Back to pitching...I say a two-seamer, four seamer, curve, drop, slurve, slider, glider, saucer, knuckle, knuckle-curve, knuckle-slurve, and the bend your back, rear back and throw hard pitch. Hope everybody is well and having good workouts. Our pitchers are up to 125 pitches from 22 feet...hind-catchers are a little behind and beat up at this point though.
  8. The Middle Tennessee Defenders are currently looking for pitchers who want to play a competitive summer schedule that will begin Memorial Day and end in the middle of July. The team is based in Mufreesboro with players coming from several area schools. The team will play 5 or 6 tournaments with some DH's mixed in on weeks there is no tournament. This team is coached by a local high school coach with 20+ years of experience. Interested players may send an email to mbartlett24@yahoo.com.
  9. OLE...Go Hogs!!! What parts are you from? FCS may make a run...depending on how well they recruit the local high schools.
  10. 3P, I will put my thumbs down and circle you till I complety bamboozle you. You just best keep your eyes on him and holler "crack" cause I'm tellin you Jerry Wayne will sloberknock you. I'll bet you a hot Pepsi out of the back of my truck Sceamin has lead the nation in back stabs, not rushing yards. E5
  11. Usual suspects...Skeen, Grissom, Medley, Hutto, Jennings, Tippy, King, Parkerson, Big Ed, ...
  12. FBMan, You can say what you want on the "T", but calling Fred nuts crosses the line. Inept, maybe, but not nuts. He single-handedly in one season forgot the balls and towels on a rainy game night and then allowed a senior, dressed in full cap and gown steal the kicking tees. I respect his football wisdom as you should, but don't never put him in charge of anything valuable. I will back up and say these were only strong accusations from Josh "Freeman Did It" the Manager. If you will check closely on Ask.com, you can find Sceamin's stats at CU. E5
  13. Are either one of them authors according to your source? How big a boy are you?
  14. Adkins played more guard according to Ask.com and William Johnson worked with knives.
  15. So Josh and Glass are out? Do you know if they are officially out? Email me the details. I still think it was a senior who stole the kicking tees and not you!
  16. Please no sarcasm ShadowofSon. The only way to determine the offense is to poll the seniors as to where they want to play college. Then run the offenses those particular colleges run. Then you can expose all of your seniors for the college coaches...the goal of all high school programs. On that note, Oakland should be disqualified from any further games...how dare they run the Smokestack I and an unbalanced offense. I bet not a single college coach will consider ANY of their players.
  17. Coachtut, Little birdie landed on my shoulder, pooped, and then told me that Michael King was still the frontrunner with Medley and Rankin close behind. E5
  18. Sceamin Willie will be a good choice. Glass is handy at getting towels and balls when freeman or josh forgets them.
  19. Thanks for explaining for those with no fun gene. Should have put you and Limbaugh on the list. Please don't allow anyone to take my fun gene out of me. See you this Spring. Hope your not behind the plate though.
  20. In no particular order: Medley Michael King Rankin Murf (sp) Fulmer Kip Puryear
  21. Only as Head Associate Get Back Coordinator
  22. The thing of it is is...you would need Josh as an assistant coach and head get the tee, towels and footballs to the game. B
  23. Totally agree...but I will have to check my source.
  24. Replacements at UT in order...got it from a source! 1. Rankin 2. Medley 3. Michael King 4. Coach Majors
