  1. Excellent post disgustedfan!!! I hope that your support for the program will be there in years to come. Your the type of fan that we need. One that doesnt just see a winning record and who is only happy when the team wins. The future teams will be fun to watch with the talent and more important love of the game that the younger players have. Thank you for your loyal support and for seeing the truth in Coach Hunt.
  2. Thanks disguted fan, I have enjoyed reading your comments about the team and are glad that you have stuck by Coach Hunt and the team. I appreciate your support and hope that you enjoy the future seasons to come.

    Cavs

The Cavs are still alive and will face Oakland again tomorrow. I truly believe that we can beat oakland since we have had the lead in every game and the fact that we still have alot of pitching left while oakland has used their top pitchers. It will be a good game while the winner will face the loser between riverdale and blackman.
  4. I hope to god that everyone will realize how dedicaed Coach Hunt is to the program and that will see that he deserves to stay at Cookeville for years to come. I will step up and fight for him if it comes down to it with the school-board. He has my up-most respect and he defines the word "winner".
  5. Hey Micheal, well our season hasnt gone so well as you might have read on this post, but our team is coming together at the right time, district tourny. As for myself, I hurt my elbow during the first scrimmage before the season, so I havent gotten to pitch during the season and that hurt my scholarship chances. I had heard about some really good JUCO schools that were interested but I had been waiting to hear from Coach Petterson at MTSU. I had talked to him before the season started but I dont know if he knows about my arm, so I will probably walk-on at MTSU and play for him. But good luck on the rest of the season man, and hope that we meet up again sometime.
  6. disgustedfan, did you ever ball for marty cook growing up? I'm just trying to figure out who you are. We all appreciate your support for our baseball program at chs and would like to know who you are.
  7. Ok I am really tired of hearing all of the excuses being made about the Cavs season. All of the coaching changes, Coach Hunt's decisions, lack of talent, etc...First off, the Cavs have alot of talent that returned from last season and second of all no one and I mean no one deserves the right to blame anything on Coach Hunt. He prepared our team for the season and has sacrificed more than any coach that I have ever heard of. He cant make the plays on the field or make the decisions for the players. If anyone should take the blame, I will. The lack of leadership has been present and the seniors know this. We will be ready for the challenge ahead of us in the district tournament. But the excuses have to stop because the players have to step up and play the game that Coach Hunt taught us to play. I have never had more respect for any coach than I have for Coach Hunt because his morals and ethics are what make him a winner, not our season record.
  8. Ofcourse I remember Michael Green. Thanks for the interest man. How are things going for you now a days? Are you still playing baseball or sticking to basketball? I still havent seen any other basketball player break an entire team's press like you did back in our AAU days. Are you going to play in college? I'll get back to you later on man, thanks again for the interest.
  9. 123dp, your right in alot of what you said, some players on the cavs team are individuals, but the "team" is coming around. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to take anything away from Clouse and Rogowski when I say something about them, it's just that alot of us have grown up with them and know them too well. They know us as well just the same. But riverdale does have a good program, but they can be beaten. Just like any other team in the district.
  10. wacot, you have to be kidding me. First of all, the seniors pitchers for the Cavs are great pitchers, Barrett and Robby are doing a great job but arent getting any help, and with Wade Bilbrey, Micheal Alcorn, and Evan Dyer in the rotation, it's a great pitching staff. For you to say we dont compare to Kyle Copeland from Livingston, thats a mistake. Your post was horrible, and it makes me believe that you dont know much about talent. We can compete with anyone in our district and we know that, we just have to play as a team to prove it. Dont even think that Sparta's pitching is better, we hit Rogowski and Clouse everytime we face them, and we win. So dont talk about our talent level unless you know how to judge talent.
  11. jon227 has a good idea of what to do. I would center my workouts for pitchers around the legs and rotator cuff muscles. Your legs have to last in order to pitch well. Build up your legs in the gym every other day while having a running program in between workouts. The rotator cuff muscles have to be developed more than anything though. I would base the workouts around some theraband and small weighted dumbells like 2 to 3 lbs. to begin with. No pitcher needs to have a huge upper body, he should be flexible. After a long period of workouts I would put in a serious long-toss program. Long-toss is a key for pitchers.
  12. The Cavs are away on mon. and tues. but home on wed, thurs, fri, and sat. for a tourny
  13. The Cavs know that they can compete against any team they face. Whenever an error is made or someone makes a mistake, the team just seems to lose its momemtum. This problem has been fixed, and the Cavs are ready to play to their potential.
  14. It's not right to judge a coach unless you have played under them. No one should judge the coaches from 7-AAA, they are all good coaches.
  15. Coach Hunt has done a great job with the program, and the team is coming together. It's all about to turn around. I dont think that he should even worry about next year, because Coach Hunt will have a winning program, and the kids want him to stay. Parents should keep their mouths shut, because they should agree with the coaches decisions and help the team instead of creating all of this negative talk.
  16. CHAMPS93, you should rethink your message because where else can you find such great coaches. Coach Hunt is the most deidicated coach I have had in all four years at CHS and I have made the team under four different coaches. Coach Hunt has a knowledge for the game that is far beyond most others and look at how young he is. Coach Tubbs is our hitting coach and played in the majors himself and was an excellent hitter, so i think that he knows what he is coaching. Coach Stites played college ball as a pitcher and was thought to be drafted but somehow didn't, and as a pitcher myself, I believe he knows how to coach a pitching staff. Coach Douglas works just as hard as any other coach and showed the infield how to play the game right, but the only thing it comes down to is that we just aren't executing enough. If one mistake happens, the team loses it's momemtum, thats our problem. Every coach at CHS is right for the job and should stay at the helm for years to come. Theses coaches will build a winning program with class and with dignity. So dont blame the coaches because they aren't the problem. I hope that they all stay at CHS for years to come.
  17. The cavs haven't given up at all. We want to win for the team but for Coach Hunt most of all. And the season hasn't gone badly for us because of the coaching changes like everyone thinks, it's because we haven't executed enough. When one mistake is made, we just seem to lose our momemtum. We just have to stay up in the game and then we will be able to play like everyone knows we can. The coaches prepared us for the season and did their job, but we haven't done ours, so don't blame the coaches. Things are turning around and the team is going to play like everyone expected us to.
  18. Cookeville played well at Wilson Central and won i think it was 11-0. Just about everyone hit the ball well and Alcorn threw the ball well.
  19. Coach Douglas is a great hard worker and has fit in well at Cookeville.
  20. I think that this game between Sparta and Cookeville will be a great game to watch. Personally I believe that the Cookeville girls will come out on top, but it will come down to the wire in such a big game. Way to go girls on making it this far, we know you will go farther in the region. Good luck to both teams and congrats to Sparta on their win.
  21. I'm sorry but what in the world does all-star teams have to do with high school baseball and better yet this message board, pre-season all-state AAA team. Little League doesn't mean anything when you get to the high school level. The players who make the all-state team are the ones who deserve it and not the ones from specific teams. Todd Martin made the all-state team from Cookeville this past year and we lost in the district tourny. So stop complaining about the players who dont deserve the honor because Todd did deserve it. All-state is an honor given to the best athletes around no matter what team they play for.
  22. Thanks for the post theeyes. It sounds like you know our team pretty well and what you said was right. Anyone can try to contact coach hunt and try to get our schedule.
  23. Thanks, jhix. I mean why is everything complaining so much? What ever happened to a little old fashioned hard work? It's like the players parents are trying to buy their son's playing time. Just go out there and bust your balls and earn some respect for your team and yourself.
  24. I have no idea who Coach King is but from what I have read, he sounds like a good coach who tries to get his players to act, work, and play the game like they should. If you truly love the game, you have to make sacrifices in order to win. Do you think that it would be easy in college? A good coach will work his players so much that they will want to quit, but wont because they want to win and play in college. The teams that want to have fun all day will be the first to lose. Practices aren't meant to be fun. You can have fun during the game by winning, but you wont win unless you have a coach that works you hard enough. For all of those complaining about working so hard and him being a hard coach, shut up. It sounds like he's doing the right thing. And as for Franklin, I hope that the rain holds out for Cookeville to visit fri. for our scrimmage.
