  1. He was a legend. If you don't believe me, ask him.
  2. Anyone except for the Italian Stallion. Anyways, he is helping Pitino at Louisville.
  3. He did everything he could in his five years to get Coffee County their first playoff win. Honestly, this past season may have been their best chance in the near future. I think this new school opening up is perfect timing for him. It gives him a chance to move back home and try to build a program from scratch, which is something he loves to do. The key for Coffee County is to find a coach that is as dedicated to football as Price was. He at least got players and the community interested in football again if nothing else. Can that continue will depend on what type of coach they bring in next.
  4. No, the Preds have looked awful. /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> Luckily, it is an 82-game season. Then again, I don't know if that is a good thing or not. CCRaiderFan, I am not talking about "big" games. Sure Tullahoma is a big game and Warren County at the time were, but I am talking about good teams. The Oaklands, Wilson Central's and Goodpasture's of this year. They always get up for Cookeville for some reason. They need to carry whatever it is against them against Lincoln County this week.
  5. Outside of Cookeville, can anyone remember when Coffee County beat a good team? You may have to go back to the 1997 season. That is the last time they beat a decent team from Rutherford County and Lincoln County. There are five similar opponents. Coffee County is average 37.6 ppg, while Lincoln County is averaging 27.6 ppg. Not a big surprise as most would say Coffee County's offense is probably better. What was a little surprising is that Coffee County allowed 15 points per game, while Lincoln County allowed 11.4 points per game. So yes, Lincoln's defense was a little stingier but not quite as much as I would have thought. Honestly, could see this going either way. The game is at home for Coffee County and you know the crowd will be raucous. Stats say take Coffee County. History says take Lincoln County. When it goes like that, it comes down to momentum, which is usually swayed by turnovers. Coffee County has a tendency to turn the ball over early in big games. If they can avoid the initial surge of the game and the first attack, then I like Coffee County's chances. Get in a hole and well they are hosting either Smyrna or Wilson Central. Coffee County 22-16.
  6. When is the last time Coffee County beat a Region 4 team not named Siegel?
  7. One thing that has always plagued Coffee County is games against teams they should beat on paper. They have always played well against teams that are similar in talent. They usually get thumped by teams with superior talent and can struggle against teams with less talent than them. Look at this year, best team thus far is Oakland and it was a pretty lopsided game until a couple of late scores. Tullahoma and Cookeville are very similar talent wise to Coffee County and both were close games. The Tullahoma game was until a couple of turnovers in the fourth quarter. Then on paper Coffee County should have thumped Shelbyville and go to overtime for the win. I expect this game to be a lot closer than most people believe. I think both teams will put points on the board. 42-31 Coffee County.
  8. Good luck to Coffee County tonight against Bradley Central!
  9. Especially at that juncture of the game.
  10. He seemed to be a little more preturbed about the "balk" call.
  11. It was definitely a strange final two innings.
  12. Are you serious? "High" is a good thing.
  13. You just pointed to one of the problems. There has been no consistency in the leadership of the school or the system. Until you can get a solid foundation with everyone on the same page striving toward the same goal, there will always be problems. In my opinion, the separation of school systems hurts more than anything. There are too many personal agendas. But with the next regime just getting in there, now is the time to share your thoughts on the program and not just the boy's basketball, but any program, anything.
  14. I think it is pretty obvious which is worse. If you have a problem, then be a big enough person to share your concerns. It is pretty simple. Yes, this is an open forum that opens up pandora's box to an array of opinions. The problem is everything is anonymous and allows people to hide behind their monitors. If you feel as strongly as some people appear they do about the situation, then take your concerns to the right people. If enough people feel like there needs to be a change, then the people in charge will be forced to listen. I think it is great that people care. As soon as you become complacent and satisfied, then guess what that is the best you will get.
  15. Wow! That is about all I can say. There seems to be a pretty clear division on this and it has been heading that way for a few years now. Out of all the years Taylor has been there, seriously there are only three seasons going into where I thought they should be good or at least competitive. The 99-00 season and the two previous seasons before this one. No way the 99-00 team should have lost in the first round of the tournament. That team had the most talent of all the teams he has had. Then the 04-05 team had the group that won at Westwood, which was the only winning team Westwood has had in forever. Then last year, the team was as good as Micah and Samuel were. When they played well, the team played well. They won games they shouldn't have and they lost games they shouldn't have. Problem is I don't see them winning any time soon. The feeder programs for all sports are atrocious in Coffee County, with the exception being softball and it is no coincidence that the most successful program at Coffee County is softball. Baseball is starting to get there. Are politics played at Coffee County? Yes. They are at almost every program, so is the world we live in. People want to bring in an experienced coach. You are going to be hard pressed to find such a coach that will come to Coffee County, because of the situation at hand. You are also going to be hard pressed to find a young coach with a solid upside because of the situation at hand. If the job opened today, I would bet there would be no more than 5 people apply for the job and three of those five would probably be local. Can things get better? Sure. Will hiring a new coach solve these problems? No. The talent level is never going to equate that of a state contender. But there is no way they should be a one-win team. You hate to settle for mediocrity, but sometimes your best is mediocre. That hard part is accepting that fact. To me Taylor should leave, not because he is doing a bad job, but because he has a young family and no one should take this kind of abuse. I think it would be best for him to just get away from the situation. Then let someone else go into the lion's den.
  16. Wow, this has gotten out of hand. I don't think Coffee County wins this game. I just hope they play good in one of these playoff games. Honestly, you could say they have laid an egg in every playoff game in school history. The first one they forgot defense was a part of football. The second one they forgot that holding onto the football was a key ingredient to success and then they were totally outclassed in the last one. That oblong object can bounce some funny ways some nights though and Coffee County would have to play their best game of the year and Smyrna would have to have an off night for this upset to take place.
  17. You hear it all the time. "This is one of those games that could go either way." "Whoever turns the ball over the fewest amounts of times should win." "Whoever gets the early momentum will probably win." Well all of these cliches are perfect because indeed, whichever team grabs the early momentum, probably from a turnover will win this game that could go either way. Looking at the scores from similar teams, Coffee County has scored more points and Warren County has allowed fewer points and the differential actually favors Warren County by about a point. The only advantage I would give is to Coffee County because they played better non-region competition. They are more battle tested. However, I think you could consider this somewhat of a big game and Coffee County's history in these so-called big games is well, not good. I would expect Warren County to try to control the clock and shorten the game, so the question is will Coffee County be able to get the Pioneers off the field. The two teams are pretty evenly matched and if they played 10 times, both teams would probably win five times. I think Coffee County wins this week. Going with the formula I went with all season the point differential is 1.75. I will take Coffee County 29-27.
  18. Ask and you shall receive. Ok, I want Coffee County to win this one, I really do. I want them to finish second and host a playoff game and actually get that elusive playoff win. So here is how I see it shaking out: Only one like opponent and of course that is Franklin County. Coffee County picked up a 31-10 win, but a couple of late scores made it a little more lopsided than it was and it was at Coffee County. Lincoln County a 10-6 win on the road. I would grade Coffee more so about 11-14 points better in their game. Lincoln was four better but on the road, add 7 if they were at the pit and it is a seven point swing due to the home crowd and the referees when you play there and the are about 11 points better as well. A little deeper, Lincoln County over Warren County by 17. Cookeville over Warren County by 10, which favors Lincoln over Cookeville, but Cookeville beat Coffee by 10, but shouldn't have been that much so cut it in half to five and start from there. 5+7 for it being at home makes it 12, minus four for the Raiders getting some players back from injury that should pay huge dividends makes it 8. Both teams with two weeks to prepare and look at film favors Lincoln County and this one is huge, probably a five point swing makes it 13. Nice average score I say Lincoln County 27, Coffee County 14.
  19. Isn't head-to-head the tiebreaker, so if Coffee County won this week then they would be in the driver seat for second right?
  20. I think you can classify this as a big game. So my question is when was the last time Coffee County won a big game?
  21. The problem with the TSSAA is their consistency. That being there is none. What is good for the goose, isn't always good for the gander with these guys.
  22. I thought it was a little more than slight sarcasm.
  23. Using a scientific formula equal to the BCS, it is quite easy to come up with a score. Three common opponents for the two teams--Franklin County averages out a score of 21-17, Coffee County 39-23. Differences in margin of victory comes out to 12. Adding three points for homefield advantage makes it 15. No weather effect. Minus two points for Coffee County coming off a loss makes 13, minus 2 points for Franklin County coming off a win makes it 11 and minus two points for Franklin County winning last year makes it nine. So it easy to see the score will be 27-18 in favor of Coffee County.
