  1. John Meadows was/is a legend. Coach Thompson is not a legend.
  2. 8-4 ain't bad either. You did a great job at Marshall County this year. You also did a great job at Lavergne. Maybe as the coaching carousel revolves, you'll eventually wind up back at home. I for one would love to see it.
  3. When are you coming home to coach, Don? /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  4. Maybe I'm mistaken, but back in the mid to late 80's, and early 90's, before Al Gore invented the internet, ( /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> ) when LC was a dominant force in HS football in middle Tennessee, I don't ever recall us being that cocky and arrogant. We just got things done on the field. We didn't go around talking about teams that "weren't in the hunt", or "didn't have the ability to win a state championship", and to expect so was "unrealistic". The next team you played could be the next team to beat you. Period. I have been pulling for Smyrna to go all the way since their win at The Pit, but I'm beginning to question that. It seems all the region 4 folk can do is put everyone else down, especially region 3. Like someone said in a post earlier this year, "All Glory is fleeting." So, when region 4's time comes for mediocrity, I hope you reap what you sow. 82 cat, I don't care how respected you are on CoachT, or in Smyrna, or wherever. You are nothing but a classless p-r-i-c-k in my book. I am a Rod Wilks fan. I met him, talked to him, he is a class act. If I pull for Smyrna at all, it will be for him.
  5. I will say this. Looking at it frame by frame, his right foot could possibly be dragging, or down, but it's hard to tell from the video. If not, his first step is definitely on the white line. Either way, it definitely wasn't a touchdown, as he stepped out first at the 12, again at the 10, then again at the 8 1/2 before coming back in. I don't know what the situation was, 4th down, time expired, etc. ? But at bang-bang full speed, that's a tough call to make either way, and I would say it would be hard to call it bad officiating on that one call. Without seeing whether or not that right foot was dragging, it would be easy to call it out of bounds as that's where the next 3 steps were. 9 out of 10 refs would probably have called it that way.
  6. Go Smyrna!! I'll be watching on TV. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  7. Well, I don't know who you saw, but all the seniors I saw were crying their eyes out. Granted, a 17-18 year old kid isn't going to dwell on it long. They move on quickly. One more thing...... GO FALCONS!!!!
  8. All I saw of this game was the highlights on the news, but in my opinion, if you have to attempt (and recover) 2 onside kicks in the last few minutes of a game in order to win, you were never in the game. That is desperation, folks. And in the real world, refs will miss calls. Sorry, but no replay in High School. Congrats Smyrna!! I hope y'all take home the gold ball again this year. OH, and about the Classic Cat.....Umm....never heard of it...umm..yeah, that's it. Why do you ask? /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  9. Yeah, I thought you were him. But I still know who you are, now that you straightened me out. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> On these other posts, wasn't Lincoln County 3A back then? At least in the early years?
  10. I know us fans are getting frustrated because LC hasn't won state in 14 years, it frustrates me too. But I was very proud of the team this year. They won the region for the first time since '03 (I think). They beat a pretty dadgum good Lebanon team before running into the defending 5A champs from Smyrna. They also beat a pretty dadgum good Coffee County team to win the region. We all know that when it comes down to playoff time, it's tough to compete with the teams from M'boro/Nashville. They have sooooo much talent to pick from. Coach T may need some help, but there is no doubt that he is a great coach, and knows more about football than most of us will ever dream of knowing. I have questioned him, and probably run him into the ground too, because sometimes it just doesn't look like he knows what he's doing, but we don't always know what's going on in the background. A play that doesn't work can look like the worst idea in the world, but they have watched film and know the tendencies of the other teams, and if that play works, Coach looks like a genius. FF07, I know who you are, and I think you did a great job this year, and you don't deserve all the crap you're reading on here. Every one of you should hold your heads high. Y'all did a great job this year. I have a son that plays for LC, and I know for a fact that he respects and listens to Coach T more than he does me. That hurts a little, but I played sports, I know how it is. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> By the way, off topic, are you hearing from any colleges? Anyway, LC will be fine. They would really benefit from reclassification. In my opinion, they either need to be 4A, or Tennessee needs to create a 6A as Alabama did several years ago. It's hard to compete with schools that have 1.5+ times the enrollment, which equates to more athletes to pick from.
  11. He had ice around his knee, or maybe shin on the way out and was limping a little, but not on crutches. I hope he's OK and can lead Smyrna to another state championship. I'll be pulling for Smyrna all the way.
  12. Great job by Smyrna tonight. I feel like we gave up a lot in field position, turnovers, and the worst officiating I have ever seen, HS, college, or pro, but I digress. I'm not sure any of those things would have helped much, had they been corrected. Smyrna has an excellent football team, and I told most of them on the way out, I hope they take it all the way. Talked to Rod after the game, and he is a class act. I hope he represents U.T. well next year. Falcons, hold your head high, you had a great season!!
  13. Moran has been fighting strep throat. I know if it's up to him, he'll be on the field. Yes, as far as I know Sharp is out, and I'm not sure about Golden.
  14. And that's why I quoted common opponents. Nice try for Smyrna guy.... /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> We're not playing baseball.... I'm not trying to take anything away from Smyrna. I know they are a good team. The Gold Ball was very well deserved, but that's from last year. Let's get it on!! Go Falcons!!!!
