  1. The Coffee County..Crawford jiberish has to do with the fact that Brentwood opened with Coffee Coutny with whom Coach Crawford at BHS has connections. I think the person replied with who Franklin and Brentwood opened with because WesVols stated "Let Brentowod and Franklin play whomever" which does sound condemning in a way. It sounds like "oh, well they don't want to play us, but Ravenwood does." Of course, knowing Westopher as I do, I know he didn't intend it to sound it that way. We've had many a discussion about why Franklin plays who they play and why they don't schedule BA. Of course, my argument with that kinda went out the window when we scheduled the Irish of Father Ryan this year, but oh well.
  2. And he used to be a pretty darn good baseball player, too. I'd say football is probably his best sport as well, but he is quite good at basketball as well. I'm also not sure why you decided to get a dig into Franklin's great basketball team from last year but okay... maybe I'll just have to agree with BDD that the Eagles lack a burning desire...
  3. As a moderator on these boards, I will tell you that yes, it is an opinion-based message board but that does not give you the right to tell people to "get a life." Opinions on Tennessee high school sports = acceptable. Opinions, especially of the negative variety = unacceptable. Thank you.
  4. This also had to do with the fact that Brentwood beat Dickson County, Franklin beat Brentwood, and Dickson County beat Franklin. I don't think you're going to have a tie up top this season. This is all opinion of course and the basis for most of my posts on this thread. I think it'll come down to Franklin and Ravenwood. I boldly predict they will defeat everyone else in the region thus making FHS and RHS the determining game. Naturally, neither team can afford to play that way after next week... but that's the beauty of it - I'm not out there so I can think what I wish. And as a person who used to be close to the BA program, I can tell you that one thing they don't lack is a burning desire. Granted, I've only seen them a handfull of times since about 2001, but I'm sure Wes will say the same thing. Coach Flatt would never have a team that didn't have desire. But I'm biased to the man, so what else would you expect from me?
  5. I don't disagree with you at all. I certainly think they'll make the playoffs while there are others that don't. I was just curious as to where "BlueCross Bowl favorites" was coming as I hadn't seen that anywhere. The Bruin coaching staff most definitely has my respect.
  6. ftt2, thanks. You made the point I wanted to make but stated it better I guess. I never meant that Ravenwood does not want to win, only that it's really not all that important in the long run whether they do or not.
  7. To your reason number one- yes, I agree. 100%. To your reason number two (and for that matter 4, 5, and 6)- okay, sure. But yeah, I'm looking at the classificational implications. They won't gain an upper leg on Region 6 just because they beat (or lose a lower leg if they lose to) Brentwood Academy. You know what I think about the "mystique" of the Super 7 + 1 so it wouldn't really impress me all that much just because of the fact that BA is in the Super 7 + 1. But there's no need to get into that... I'm sure we'll do that in December when the "best team in the state" talk gets underway. To your reason number three- I'm going to disagree. They validated themselves lsat year by defeating Gallatin at Gallatin in the playoffs. If they hadn't done that, I doubt so many would be proclaiming the preseason favorites in the region.
  8. If Coach Rector is smart he'd most definitely have them yawn and quietly shake hands and start thinking about the next week.
  9. Well, we'll get to that when we get closer to that contest, aight? For now, let's just look forward to pulling for each other this week against Region 4, what do ya say?
  10. No, I'm not. It means about as much as the contest between Franklin and Father Ryan later on in the season. It's a private vs public battle, and so that makes it appealing plus the fact that the two schools are so close. Beyond that (and TC's previous enrollment at BA) there's nothing to this game. If RHS vs FHS wasn't next week, this game would look a little bit more special to me, but that game is much more important.
  11. Dude, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being passionate about your school. More kids nowadays need to have that passion. Keep it up! thumb
  12. Maybe I just haven't been reading around, but who is touting Brentwood so highly? The pundits in Williamson County who would know better than most have them as perhaps not making the playoffs. Now I'm surely not saying I think that, I'm just curious as to where you read they were picked to win the BlueCross Bowl since many don't have them winning Region 6-5A. That being said, here we are with another Region 6 vs Region 4 battle and so of course I'll be pulling for the Bruins. I have a good feeling BHS will represent the BEST region in the state well on Friday night. Brentwood 24 Smyrna 14
  13. This game matters not for Ravenwood in the big scheme of things. Looming ahead is a HUGE battle with Franklin in Week 2. Should the Raptors get down early, I wouldn't look for them to battle too hard in this one. There's some pride invovled and stuff but this game just isn't that important. The only thing it would be good for is to start the season off right. I'd rather not see RHS lose to avoid the bounce-back factor against us in Week 2, so I hope the Raptors win in a physical, hard-fought battle.
  14. All games are played under the rules as set forth by the National Federation for/of High School Sports. They have the rules on their website I believe, which is I think nfhss.com.
  15. Oh, 21, don't worry. I agree with you completely (or I concur) that our special teams is likely far superior as is normally the case against anyone. Your post just made me think about the fact that Oakland scored in all phases of the game last night and I was just pointing that out.
  16. It would seem that Oakland can score on special teams and defense as well... From the Tennessean:
  17. Franklin put on a clinic last night in Lincoln County, disposing of them 56-8. Oakland won comfortably agaisnt region foe Blackman 42-21. This game in 2003 was close on the scoreboard but not so much on the field and last year it would seem it wasn't close on either. Can the Patriots cool down the Rebels hot start? Will Franklin be looking towards Ravenwood and past OHS? As always, discuss. And of course, GO REBS!
  18. I think I liked it okay, yeah... thumb
  19. Yes - a big congratulations to the guys at Warren County!
  20. This is something on which I will proudly stand next to a Brentwood Bruin and be in agreement with him. Great post, and way to set some things straight.
  21. BigDogDaddy, a great recap as usual. I thank you on behalf of all of us who can't be in attendence week in and week out. Speaking of which, I currently am planning on showing up at Homecomming. However, if the Rebels enter that game with an undefeated record, you make sure the Williamson County Sheriffs won't let me in! Not a very Franklin-esque thing Mikrut did tonight, it sounds like. This is a more of a rhetorical question, but would that have even come close to happening on a Tim Johnson team? Not taking a shot at Coach Clayton at all... just thinking aloud really I guess. Anyways, great to see such a complete effort tonight by the Rebs. Hopefully they'll just keep this up... GO REBS!
  22. Ehh, I'm gonna put the lock on this for now... not really something we should be talking about on here I don't think. If CoachT thinks otherwise, he can unlock it.
  23. Well, just got off the phone with WesVols who was fairly shocked, as was I. Such a lopsided victory... well, BDD was wrong again. He didn't pick the Rebels by enough!
  24. Certainly looks like the Rebels haven't missed a beat at all! Congratulations to Franklin for what looks likes one of the most solid performances of the past couple seasons. Nearly a shutout with such offensive numbers and special teams play at one of the most difficult places to escape with a win in the state... yeah, GO REBELS!
  25. Who are these guys? Man... hard to say after one game... but Lincoln County isn't a pushover by any means.
