  1. Man, I am just so giddy right now! Hockey is back, y'all! JR was just on SportsCenter, accepting defeat, but he could care less what the deal is, how bad they have it now, etc. He's just glad hockey is back on the ice. Me too! thumb
  2. Westopher... Westopher... let's just shout "fire!" in a movie theatre! 5A... period. Not going to argue it again as we have done it numerous times in the past.
  3. YES! YES! YES! This is so absolutely incredible! Finally! We're gonna be playing this year! YES! YES! YES!
  4. A learning experience that might include a win against Brentwood... a win against Brentwood?!
  5. They've missed a great chance to have this all done by either yesterday (Monday) or tomorrow (Wednesday) with there really being no other professional sports going on at this time. Maybe they'll at least have it ready for ratification tomorrow. They could at least own the sports news for the day with that.

BDD, no worries. I already gave him a bit of a hard time. Since someone mentioned it looked a little West biased...Wes took the teams everyone on here picked to win their region (including ties) and put them into the poll. He didn't just randomly pick teams. In esscence, we all did.

I voted for Ravenwood... probably not smart, but oh well. I had to suppor the region...
  8. Let's try to steer away from this and simply talk about how the teams will do in the region. Thanks...
  9. Franklin High forever... Okay, I don't know the rest of the fight song. BDD, looks good. I'd put Indy last though. We'll see though, perhaps they'll squeeze out a couple here and there. By the way BDD, I was up in Franktown (still am actually, but leaving bright and early) for my brother's wedding... the school is looking great! Random thought there... Toss up between Ravenwood and Franklin, really. At least on paper. I'm going to give the nod for now to my beloved Rebels. Jennings is great, but he can't solely carry a team through this tough region. If he gets some support (which I think he can), they will most definitely make a run for the regular season region title.
  10. Wait a second... wait a second... timeout. Surely you missed the fact that Columbia was moved up to Region 6-5A this season. Ravenwood seems to be the favorite, with Franklin not far behind. Do I think Columbia can make the playoffs out of this region? Maybe so. But it's going to be tough. This is the toughest region in the state in 5A and Ravenwood, Franklin, Brentwood - they're all used to the long, hard season that creates. So sure, they have a shot... but so does Independence. Again, I think Columbia can make the playoffs... but it'll be hard for them to win the region.
  11. Seems like Roger has a great head on his shoulders. If only there were more of him out there. He realizes that it's his education that is going to advance him in the world, not his atheletic talent. It's like that NCAA commercial that states that nearly every student athlete will go pro in something other than sports. He wants to get the best education possible while also perhaps hitting the field one day for the 'Dores. I admire him for his determination to reach his goal. We all could learn a lot from this kid.
  12. For some reason, what JR had to say didn't bother me too much. He had some valid points. Granted, he probably could have handled the question that sparked the heated response a bit better, but oh well. I really enjoyed the exchange between him and Dan Patrick yesterday on SportsCenter... it was good to see hockey in the light again, regardless of what the situation was.
  13. Opinion is we debate this topic at the end of EVERY season it seems always come to the same conclusion: we just have to agree to disagree. Sometimes there is a clear-cut leader such as Riverdale last year. They would have likely defeated any D-II AAA team. Then there is MBA of a few years back where the top 5A team was probably not as good as them. It's fun to discuss at the end of the year when you have results to base stuff on. It's a shame they don't play together so we could base it on something more substantial. I always long for the old days of Region 5-5A back in 1995. Lincoln County Franklin County Franklin Brentwood Brentwood Academy Man, I'm getting old. Who else was in that region? But take 2003 for example, that region would have been CRAZY!
  14. Because the topic is not really football oriented, the topic was moved to the Open Discussion board that is available to CoachT Plus members. Besides the Open Discussion board, CoachT Plus members also chat on many other boards ranging from hunting/fishing to the NFL to college sports and several others. For only $12 a year, it's a great deal.
  15. Hmmm... wish I had known about this fun discussion going on here. It's funny that you try to tell us what Franklin players said about Hunters Lane. I think we know a bit better than you. Just a hunch... As far as Region 5-5A vs Region 6-5A, the record speaks for itself over the past few years. The most notable fact is that since 2002, a Region 6 team has been in the semifinals (two of those years, the Region 6 team made it to state... Brentwood even won). In 2002, only Gallatin advanced out of the first round from Region 5. They were then defeated by Franklin in the second round. In 2003, only Hendersonville advanced from Region 5. Since HLHS is so hung up on "close" I'll add this: Hendersonville barely escaped from Dickson County with a 3 point win and then only beat Centennial by one. They were then defeated in overtime by Franklin the quarterfinals. That means over the past three years, Region 5 has only won THREE playoff games. I don't care if all of Region 6's wins were by HALF a point, they were still wins. So the Region 5 teams gave us all we could handle, eh? Apparently we handled it pretty nicely. I'll take a close win any day of the week. They are much more gratifying. I could care less if you can blow people out. Blowing out Hendersonville in the first round in 2002 wasn't nearly as fun as the close victory against Gallatin the next week. It's all about what you do when it's coming down to win or go home in a close ballgame in the playoffs. I'll take you up on your Hunters Lane-Franklin example from 2003. Hunters Lane wasn't just winning at the half. They were winning comfortably. Franklin adapted to the situation, changed things up at the half, and came out and overwhelmed the Warriors. You see it as Hunters Lane giving Franklin all they could handle. I see it as Hunters Lane not being able to withstand the pressure of the playoffs. Also, note that my response is mostly directed towards HLHS... I like most of you Region 5 folks... but I can't stand people who get on here and don't know what they're talking about. That doesn't apply to many of you at all. Oh, and one more thing for the HLHS, that will be interesting to see Clarksville make the playoffs from Region 6-5A... but I guess you meant Clarksville Northeast, right? Since Gallatin won their first round game last year, I'm thinking you meant Clarksville...
  16. Unbelievable. The guy asks a question in a complimenting way about a Hunters Lane player, and you manage to throw in this comment about how Hunters Lane almost beat Franklin... more than two years ago now. Because of the sheer fact that it was more than two years ago I'm not going to bother reminding you that almost only counts in horseshoes and hand gernades...
  17. Topic closed... similar topic can be found here. Please continue posting there... thanks.
  18. GWAVE, you reminded me of one that I forgot. Franklin vs Gallatin... what a great game that was in 2002. I've looked forward to a possible rematch in the playoffs every year since. Maybe one of these days...
  19. 1) Franklin vs Brentwood Academy Why: In 1995 and 1996, the Rebels were completely obliterated by one of the nation's best teams. Since then, the Eagles have come down a bit and the Rebels have risen quie a bit. After the past couple seasons, there has been intense debate between Rebel and Eagle fans as to who was the best in Williamson County. This game might not be as good in the next year or two as it would have been in the past couple seasons. However, with Father Ryan on Franklin's schedule next year, maybe this shows a desire to schedule private school competition. Which brings me to... 2) Franklin vs Battle Ground Academy Why: The two oldest schools in the city - they simply should be playing every year. I'm sure BGA doesn't want a big 5A school on their schedule (I'm not blaming them... they do well in their division, that's all they have to do), but it still would be entertaining. It would most definitely turn into a rivalry game in which everything must be tossed out the window. 3) Franklin vs Riverdale Why: 35-7. That says enough.
  20. If there's anyone who can turn a program around, it's Coach Johnson. He didn't make a serious mistake. I'm not happy he just up and left Franklin, but I wish him the best at Giles County and I know he will do great things down there.
  21. And concerning who watches hockey in Florida... there's at least one person! And many thousands more since this team in Tampa... the Lightning I think they're called, it's been so long though, I'm forgetting team names... won the Stanley Cup so long ago.
  22. Legwand, yes... Upshall even more so. He had an average season at best with the Ads this season. Tootoo didn't really impress me much either (just looking at stats though, so who knows...). Looks like we're getting closer and closer. I'm saying sometime next week we'll get the press conference we've been waiting on for SO long. It's going to be much like the NFL as far as parity is concerned if you ask me... let's just hope we're not an Arizona Cardinals like team! Of course, I certainly don't think we will be. Willy Daunick had a great article in the Nashville City Paper this morning about why this new CBA is GREAT news for the Preds if it is like it's been said to be. We'll just have to see. And fuggly, for a little while it looked as if the New Jersey Devils were coming to Nashville. They then happened to win this little thing called the Stanley Cup and those plans accordingly went out the window. So naturally the National Hockey League ticked off Canadians more and gave us a team.
  23. You know that's EXACTLY why I posted that...
