  1. Don't know what the real problem was but by reading coaches comments his assistant wanted the job (the current AD which is also on f/ball staff). Don't know any of the coaches but did see this team play once last year, played hard. Not a very good offensive scheme in my opinion, whoever the play caller was didn't do a good job at all recognizing where he had the advantages. No one is perfect and that was only one game I saw. Maybe he was better on other Fri nights. Anyway good luck with the season hope it turns out well. Its very odd that you fire your coach two months before the season. Things like that take place in the winter. Hate it for the seniors - they need to make a good hire and not give it to anyone on last year's staff.
  2. I'll say this Alcoa DOES NOT have a better QB than Jock Stinson - don't care how good there backups were last year. If Stinson gets a fair shot - 100% he'll be there QB. He is dual threat that can beat you in many ways - not many guys start varsity as a 9th grader especially at that position and at a school like Fulton. His arm is fine - throws a good ball with some juice behind it.
  3. Another rumor is that Alcoa may be getting Knox Fulton's QB from last year (Stinson).
  4. West hasn't played a team w/ athletes like Brainerd - West should win but you never know when there's athletes involved. They can score any play.
  5. Region 3-4a used to be the best region top to bottom around, not in the last couple years, now that Central is down, there is only one good program in that region (Maryville) - the rest are average. Knox West, Halls, Central, Powell none are bad teams but none are good either. This year 2-3a and the 5-a region w/ William Blount is the best in East part of state then I'd pick 3-4a. The 2-3a 4th place team (AC) beat the 4th place team from 3-4a like a drum (Powell). Catholic CRUSHED Halls & West in pre-season scrimmges. William Blount, Farragut, Oak Ridge, Ooltewah & McMinn Co - that's a TOUGH region, the BEST in the east part of the state. TOP PROGRAMS 3-4A Maryville Central West Halls Powell TOP PROGRAMS 2-3A Catholic Fulton A.C. A.E. Kingston If you were to combine the two regions, three of the top four teams would be from 2-3a and possibly four of the top five.
  6. Farragut WOULD NOT beat Catholic, AE yes but no KCHS. KCHS 'd' is STRONG..
  7. West always finds ways to make big mistakes in big games. Been a problem for years @ West. Wasn't surprised to see M'ville put up 28 in 1st half - West "D" isn't good. I believe they have allowed 30 or more in 4 of their 7 games. Too bad that there "d" isn't any beter b/c they have a pretty good "O". West will be out of the playoffs after second round at the latest - I'd like to see them go farther but doubt it happens.
  8. West may put up some points but they can't stop a "parked car". I'd like to see the upset but it would take a near miracle. In the past there's been years here and there that West did give Maryville fits in the first half anyway. Good luck both teams hope there's no injuries.
  9. I witnessed M.E. play this year once - not a very good football at all. I've not seen M.W. play but I'd have to guess they can't be as bad as East. I'd hate to see the teams East beat, they really must be bad.
  10. West has 'NO' defense, not sure if its lack of talent, coaching, scheme or combination. There tackling is as bad as you'll find in H.S. football. Very average team due to its awful 'D'. There 'O' can be strong but does make mistakes that prove costly. West has been the same for years, always has athletes but finds ways to lose big games - just seem to underachieve year after year. Will be fortunate to be in playoffs.
  11. I just don't see AC being able to cover FHS WR's, if Stinson is on then Fulton puts up BIG #'s. FHS wideouts were open all night vs OR - Stinson had an off night. FHS 32 AC 20
  12. West has a good offense and an awful defense - every year. I didn't say there team was terrible just the "D". West will be there typical 6-4 ~ 7-3 if they learn how to tackle. Watch the replay on CSS, there tackling is about as bad as it gets. Its not as big as win as some Farragut folks may think. If Central's healthy they'll give FHS a more stiff game just b/c there "D" is usually pretty good and they do know how to tackle.
  13. Farragut will be lucky to win let alone blow the Bobcats out. West is TERRIBLE and has the worst defense I've ever seen (outside of #22 - he was a player). Farragut will have a much more stiff test this week b/c Central will at least try to tackle unlike West. I'd say FHS wins a close one (17-14) but don't be shocked if Central wins. My prediction is Bobcats slow down Sterling and keep him at bay. Jamie Wilson will have a solid night and I predict will outrush Sterling in this game (if he stays healthy). Central jr class is very solid - you can't go by Freshman games, some schools play 9th graders w/ 9th graders and then some schools play there 9th graders up if there ready (Central plays there up).
  14. Should be a good one. The team that gets out of the gate the quickest will probably take it. Fulton will need a break or two b/c O.R. will dominate up front. I'll be routing for Fulton but see O.R. winning a close one. If Fulton can come up with a few BIG plays then they'll probably win. Skill player advantage goes to Fulton hands down but O.R. line is an even bigger advantage. GO FALCONS!!!
  15. My prediction is West will find away to lose the game like the past. They always seem to shoot themselves in the foot in the big games and end up losing a game where they may have outplayed the opponent. Until West wins a big game I'll stick w/ Farragut in this one. 24-21 - West "D" is too soft, Sterling will go for 150 or more. And as far as Wagner at QB, West will be fine w/ him. There's things he does better than Ryan just as there's things Ryan does better. I'll be routing for West though..
