  1. I just wanted to get on here and give a call to the Lipscomb radio and media guys for the awesome job that they do in covering their team. The stat book, media guide, web site, and game notes were unbelievable! We have got a lot of work to do to catch up in that area. If we can be of any help to you in the future, just let me know.
  2. Regular ticket office opens at 6pm. The ticket booth is located in the school across from the main gate to the football stadium. As Gus Manning would say..."plenty of good seats still available."
  3. That was just a little school house humor. (Har Har) Close to 300 tickets sold in the first hour! Tickets will be sold throughout the school day.
  4. Don't Worry!!!! Tickets are on sale for the game. Coach Black is selling them at the main entrance to the gym. We will NOT sell out of tickets. There will be tickets available tonight, but lines will be long. We are doing this to help our ticket sellers and prevent long lines tonight. Please do not call the office # (1240) unless you would like a day of ISS! You can call my office 594-1259 for more info. Parking will be FREE as always. Additional FREE parking will be located at the ST. Mary's professional building towers, and at the side parking lot at Kroger. (Please do not park at the front entrance of Kroger or in any of the areas behind the store.) Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight. For updates tune to WKCS 91.1-FM
  5. FYI Advance tickets for the Fulton/Catholic game will go on sale on Friday morning at 9AM at the ticket booth in front of the Fulton Gym. We are expecting a huge crowd, so it might be a good idea to get your tickets early. Free parking will be available at the school.
  6. Thanks for the kind comments. We will have the broadcast tonight beginning at 7:30 at Boyd Buchanan. We try to post the games on coacht.com, as well as on our www.fultonfootball.com website.
  7. 1st Annual Tennessee Orthopaedic Clinic/Kessler’s Team Sports Big Man Tournament of Champions Results Linemen from seven area high schools participated in a skills competition on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Powell High School. Coaches Matt Lowe of Powell and Buck Coatney of Fulton helped to organize the event. Each team consisted of ten players. The events required the linemen to use their strength, agility, quickness, and teamwork skills. Each event was scored like a track meet with the winning team scoring 10 pts, the second place team getting 8 pts., and decreasing points given to the lower-placed teams. The winning team was presented with championship t-shirts. The event was very successful, and everyone is looking forward to a bigger and better event next year. Team Results 1.Bearden (60), 2. Farragut (55), 3. Powell (53), 4. Fulton (52), 5. Heritage (48), 6. Clinton (46), 7. Claiborne (28) 8. Powton (Combined team of Fulton and Powell players) (19). Event Winners Bench Press- Adam Wigren (Farragut) 33 reps x 185 lbs. 8. This event will be taking place on Saturday morning beginning at 10AM at Powell High School. Eight teams will be participating including Fulton, Powell, Bearden, Farragut, Heritage, and others. I will post a complete list of teams as soon as I get one. Some of these competitions will be similar to those in the "World's Strongest Man." Everyone is invited to come out to watch this event. Best of luck to all teams in 2006!
  9. #3 in white was Ken Tyson. He will still wear #2 next year. I believe Antonio Hamilton will wear #99 for this season. OL will be a key area for this year's team. Wiley, Reilly, and Kennedy have experience, the key will be developing new starters to plug into the line. There are several candidates for these positions. Phillip Bates moved from TE to the line to give more depth. Coach Black has done an unbelieveable job the last few years in bringing the OL along as the year goes on.
  10. The final score was 14-12 in favor of the White team. The White scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to get the win. Terrence Cobb scored two TDs (8,2) for the Maroon. He will wear #3 this season. Jonathan Blair hit Ken Tyson on a 17-yard TD pass, and Dennis Rogan scored on a 7-yard run for the White. Brandon Winters scored the winning 2-point conversion. Both teams played well on Thursday. We were really impresed with the crowd for the game. I know a few people also listened on the radio. Thanks to all of our fans. We hope to have some photos posted on here soon and also on www.fultonfootball.com.
  11. Fulton High School will conclude its spring drills with the Maroon and White Spring game on Thursday 5/25 at 6PM at the school. Admission is free. WKCS-FM 91.1 will broadcast the game live beginning at 5:45. WKCS will also broadcast live the Maroon and White game draft on Tuesday 5/23 at 2:30 as the coaches select the teams.
  12. From the rinky dink desk... WKCS 91.1-FM will be broadcasting tonight's game between Carter and Gibbs beginning at around 7:30. Should be an interesting game and broadcast. If you can't make it to the game try to tune in. I have been told that folks up in Seymour can pick up our station.
  13. Here are the bowl games that Fulton High has played in: YEAR BOWL OPPONENT RESULT SITE 1964 Tobacco Bowl Greeneville L 12-7 Greenville 1965 Optimist Bowl Central L 7-0 Knoxville 1966 Jaycee Bowl Loudon W 14-13 Rockwood 1967 Optimist Bowl Morristown W 27-6 Knoxville 1968 Strawberry Bowl Rhea Co. L 13-0 Dayton 1973 Pioneer Bowl Brainerd W 14-7 Chattanooga 1976 Optimist Bowl Newport W 26-0 Knoxville 1977 Clinton Jaycee Bowl Daniel Boone W 50-28 Clinton 1983 Shamrock Bowl Carter W 10-7 Knoxville 1984 Highlander Bowl Cocke Co. L 21-0 Gatlinburg 1990 Veterans Bowl Whitwell W 14-6 Sweetwater 2002 BlueCross Bowl Ridgeway L 21-14 Murfreesboro 2003 BlueCross Bowl Covington W 36-9 Murfreesboro 2004 BlueCross Bowl Greenbrier W 34-6 Murfreesboro - The Optimist Bowl was held at Evans-Collins field in Knoxville on Thanksgiving and featured the top team in Knoxville versus an top East Tennessee team. It was the premiere bowl game in the area in the 1960s. In the 1950s the winner of the KFL would get to travel to play in a bowl game in Jacksonville, FL. I believe it was called the Meninack Bowl. In 1991, Fulton hosted the St. Mary's Bowl. Claiborne Co. defeated Wartburg in the game. Fulton would have played in the game, but they finished the season at 5-4 because of having to drop a game from the schedule when South-Young, Doyle, Holston, and Rule closed. You had to win 6 games that year to get in a bowl game.
  14. Check McMinn Central in 1993 (Class 3A). I think that they may have won only 4 or 5 games in the regular season.
  15. WKCS 91.1 FM in Knoxville is proud to announce that it will re-broadcast the 2002 Fulton vs. Trousdale Co. state semi-final game this Sunday night (7/17) at 7PM. (Barring any technical difficulties) The broadcast will be a part of a series entitled "Fulton Football/Basketball Classics" and will air on Sunday nights leading up to the beginning of Football season. Fulton and Trousdale Co. were both 13-0 leading into the playoff game on the Creekbank in Hartsville. The game was a classic with Trousdale Co. sending the game into overtime on a late FG. The game was decided on Fulton's last play in overtime; a two-point conversion. You will hear the entire broadcast as it aired on WKCS and WLIL. We hope that you will join us Sunday night at 7 as we remember the past and get geared up for the upcoming season. WKCS 91.1 FM can be heard throughout most parts of Knox Co..
  16. In the Knoxville area: WKCS 91.1 FM in Knoxville will again carry all Fulton High games. I hope to have a Internet stream in the future. (Maybe in July we will re-air some classic Fulton football and basketball games from the last 10 years. Stay Tuned.) WLIL AM-730 in Lenoir City will carry all the Lenoir City games with Glenn McNish. Glenn has broadcast LC football for well over 35 years. We think that this is the longest that anyone has broadcast for just one team in the state! WLNT 96.1 FM in Loudon carries all of the Loudon High games. They have a website that plays all their games live then as a loop. I believe it is www.redskinradio.com I think WKZX 93.5 in Maryville will carry Blount Co. games again this year. They might also have their "Thursday Night Football Forecast" show. The "Sports Animal" 990AM, 99.1, 99.3 FM carries the Knoxville game of the week with John Wilkerson. There are several other great stations that carry games in this area. Make sure that you support them by tuning in this fall. I believe that radio broadcasts are an important part of the High School football experience.
  17. Fulton and Lenoir City will play their region 2-3A game tonight at Fulton High School. Kickoff is at 7:30.
  18. Knox High and Stair Tech's last season was 1950. Those two schools were closed and four new schools opened that started playing football in 1951: Fulton (1951) Knox. West (1951) Knox. South "Rockets"- then South-Young (1976) now South-Doyle (1991) Knox. East "Mountaineers"- now Austin-East (late 1960s)
  19. I am having trouble clicking on the link. It shows that there is an error.
  20. I will be spending some quality time in the Mid-State next week. Where could I find one of these fine publications?
  21. From the TSSAA website: Most Overtimes in a Game 7 Farragut vs. Bradley Central (Farragut 65-64) November 10, 1995 7 Chattanooga City vs. Knoxville West (35-34) September 7, 1984 The West/Chatt. game made Sports Illustrated. Someone broke into West's locker room during the game. SI lamented this fact.
  22. To the best of my knowledge, Stair Tech was located in downtown Knoxville, and was a vocational school. Stair Tech closed in 1951 along with Knox High. Stair Tech's vocational program moved to Fulton, making Fulton an early comprehensive high school with full academic and vocational programs.
  23. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in Morgan Co. I hope that everyone will take pause to remember those who lost their lives in this tragety. The damage shown on TV was just unbelieveable. The idea to donate the gate from Friday's game back to the community would be very appropriate. [Edited by bluestreak77 on 11-11-02 8:19P]
  24. To say that Region 2-3A is the weakest region in the state, proves that you are a true football expert. I bet you picked McMinn Central to beat Trousdale Co! Why don't you eat some sour grapes with Lee Corso and the Gameday crew? By the way, if you knew so much about coaching, you would understand that sometimes it is a good idea to let players have some say in the decision making process, it shows that you have trust in your team. This is 2002, not 1962.
  25. From some of the rhetoric I have seen on this board, may I assume that the Falcons are the most hated team in East Tennessee? Are they the Oakland Raiders or the Florida Gators of the KFL? Is Al Davis their head coach?
