  1. Why don't you guys start a why Unaka got screwed post somewhere else and leave this one to who IS going to be in the Arby's.
  2. I, for one, really enjoy Gomab's rankings. It gives people across the state a way to find out about players from other regions. I don't very often agree with Gomab but I do enjoy reading his list and especially enjoy the back and forth it creates. So Gomab...let's have it. And thanks
  3. Nice picture of Lee Humphrey and an article on their exhibition game. Lee was 3-4 from 3 pt in the first half. http://www.gatorzone.com/story.php?id=7666...1109110700.html
  4. Clinton didn't surprise anyone last year. If you have as much tallent as anyone in the state you're supposed to be good. Unfortunately for the Dragons, almost all of that tallent is gone now.
  5. http://www.coacht.com/inside/schedule.cfm?...D=1&SeasonID=31
  6. 28-0 Central with 8 min to go in 1st half.
  7. Here it goes, 1st predictions for 04-05 in Kville. district 3 AAA 1-Karns-too many weapons and didn't lose much 2-Oak Ridge always talented. look for R Daniels-Mullholland to follow up a good football season with a strong BB season. Plenty of help. 3-Powell- lost some good guard play but with L Smith inside and Watts outside they could contend. Coach Ogan always seems to make them competetive. 4-Halls- Cameron Sharp will come into his own. Few teams were able to slow him down as a freshman. Pretty good inside help. 5-6-7-Clinton/Central/Campbell Co. Clinton will miss there three seniors from last year. Central is still a year away, could have one or none senior starters. Campbell has some tallent but is still a year away. Player of the year...Jody Fersner(Karns) again, not even close. Runners up...Rick Daniels-Mullholland (Oak Ridge), he's just too strong for anybody in the district and Dandrus Whitt (Clinton), If he knew how to throw a pass he could give Fersner a run. district 4 AAA 1-Bearden-Even with some graduation and defections, they will be tough. 2-South Doyle-Coach Smith has been there long enough for his system to take. Logan Johnson should have a big year. 3-William Blount-Good shooting team and good young coach. 4-Farragut-Will be strong inside with Bosse. 5-West-Lots of athletes. If new coach can harness them they will be very good if not they will be awful. 6-Maryville-Rebuilding year but we don't need to think about that untill football is over. 7-Heritage-Could be wild card. 8-Sevier Co-Last again Player of the year...Logan Johnson(South Doyle). Close runners up, Ben Bosse(Farragut) He's tall, Aaron Eakins(William Blount), Tony White(Bearden). There it is, what are your thoughts?
  8. As a Central fan, I'm tired of the belly aching about the two transfers. Get over it. Central doesn't seem to have missed a beat. Sure they might have been a little better with those two quality players but they don't have them. Some of the Bobcat fans are either showing their maturity or being successful at raising the dander of some Powell fans! As for having 4 high schools within 10 miles...come to fountain city. We have Halls, Fulton, AE, Powell, West and Gibbs all within about 10 or 12 miles of Central.
  9. My son went 2 years ago between his soph and jr seasons. IN MY OPINION, it is set up for unsigned seniors who may need a last look by jr colleges, or small NAIA or DIII. There were no D-I coaches there that I saw or even D-II. At the local showcase there will be a Team Tennessee picked. Those kids qualify for the nationals (that year in Columbus, OH). At both the local and the nationals, college coaches will guide the teams in the shootout and then in the nationals. It is a good chance for kids to get exposed to some recruiting but don't expect them to be knocking down your door. Some area coaches I saw included Coach Walker from Hiwassee and the coach from Chattanooga state. The coach for Team Tennessee was a coach from New York. Coach Walker coached Nebraska and another. The coach from Chattanooga State coached Alabama. Alabama had a couple of kids from Tenn on their team and one ended up Ist team All American (Jamarcus Billings from Knoxville). It was a good experience. I think my son played 15 games in 5 days against some good and some not so good competition. He ended up 2nd team All American out of about 500 kids. Now the bad part. It seemed like every time we turned around we had to ante up for something else.$$$$ Like $about $250 for uniforms at the nationals(just a small example). In all, including the local and nationals with gas and motel and food we spent over $1400. I would not have done if I had known ahead of time how much $$$$ we were going to go thru. You can decide for yourself if it is for you or not. My suggestion is to get involved with a good AAU type program if you are not a snior yet and concentrate on that (you will see a lot more coaches at these tournaments). If you are a senior and HAVE SOME GAME and are not sure where you are going to college and want a shot at a smaller school, by all means go to the USA Jr National.
  10. I don't know much about WB but as far as Halls, they had 6 seniors and come tournament time, that makes all the difference in the world. BTW Central had one senior starter and 4 sophs. Give coach some time. If they don't have any fundamentals in 2 years I'll be on here with you raggin coach Lambert but I don't think that's going to happen. How about that burger?
  11. Sleep23, good to hear from you. Zach and I were talking about you the other day. Are you still playing ball? College? Tell your dad I said hello. TNBreakers, you're right. Last summer was a blast. We appreciate you putting the "tour" together. Dukeballer...is it true there is a new cheer in Blount that goes.... ...GET JANKED UP! ...GET JANKED UP! You guys think we could get Rebelsman to tote the box to a reunion?
  12. Don't forget Chris Brown. I saw Chris the other day and he looks like he has grown a coulpe of inches.
  13. Last night, Zach Conner along with senior teammates Jeffrey Lusk and Kevin Gregg, played their last game for Knox Central, a 64-60 loss to Campbell Co. in District III AAA tournament. For Zach, it has been a tough year in a memorable career. Highlights include 1361 points, 515 rebounds, 94 assists, 96 steals and 52 blocks in 3 years as a varsity starter. Getting (or having) to play all 5 positions on the court at some time this year. Three head coaches in 4 years at Central. I hope Coach Lambert can bring some stability to a program that desperately needs it. Truth be told, with 4 sophomore starters, Central had what should have been in AAA a good JV squad and did well to win 5 games.(Redrage, I owe you a burger, we didn’t get to 8 like I said). Many causes for the Bobcats to be down this year. Things like a 2 year starter at center quit playing for his senior year. A 2 year starter at forward quit halfway thru the year. A 2 year starter at guard and our best on ball defender broke his hand and was out for the season. And this years starting center quit at midyear and transferred to Powell. The funny part is nobody from Central has dwelled on the negative this year. I know Zach wants to thank some of the peaple who helped him along the way. People like: JD Lambert, who may be the hardest working man in high school basketball and virtually lived in the gym last summer so the kids could workout. Lynn Allen, who always believed in Zach enough to make him a starter as a soph. and encouraged him to be the best he could be. Mark Guilmire of the Tenn. Breakers for giving him a national forum to showcase what he could do and expecting nothing but the best. Norman Jefferson of the East Knox Lakers and Oak Ridge Bulls, whose recent passing truly saddened a lot of east TN basketball families. Francis Harshaw of the E Knox Lakers. A man with a big heart who does not get enough credit for all he does for inner (and outer) city youth. It was under Coach Harshaw in a tournament in Hopkinsville, KY as a 14 year old that Zach figured out he could play against any competition and hold his own. In closing, I would like for Zach to know how proud of him I (his dad) am. Now I'm looking forward to watching my son play at next level. We will have an announcement soon.
  14. After this season I feel I deserve a little box time. I must be a little "janked up myself!"
  15. Guilmire is a senior and Zach Conner fron Knox Central has averaged 18 pts while seeing double team every game.
  16. I would love to see the game but I'll be at the Oak Ridge/Central game instead. In addition to seeing a great game, my dad and his 1954 Clinton Dragon basketball team are being honored on their 50th anniversity of wearing the orange and black. Please, give them a big hand for me!
  17. I've been keeping the books for Central for three years and although there are some places where I feel I have to really watch them, Karns is definitely not one of them. I have caught a couple that were off and at least one out right case of cheating but for the most part the scorekeepers just want to get it right. Only once have I been told "I have the official home book and it is the one that counts and if you don't like it, too bad!" Usually, if there is a discrepency, the two scorekeepers get together during a time-out or between quarters and work it out quietly between them. I find that more often than not, my book matches the other but the scoreboard is off and we quickly and quietly fix it.
  18. I just don't see a problem happening with the home score book happening at Karns. There are other places it could and has happened but I don't think so at Karns. You're out of line.
  19. I think the district is at Karns. Anybody know where the region is? Oak Ridge has to be the favorite. Best point guard around equals success at tourney time. Karns at home would be my 2nd pick. Fersner and Co. shoot it real good at the Beaver den. Clinton...who knows which team will show up, if they make it past their 1st game look out. Halls is playing well and Jones is getting some help scoring from Tripp and Co. Powell is looking shaky now. Central almost beat them AT Powell after trailing 20-2 to start the game and Powell barely got by Halls. Campbell Co. took it to a cold Central team Friday and showed it was clearly dominate. Another good point in Smith. Central looks ready to go to football. Nothing to lose...who knows.
  20. I think Clinton has Cumberland Co at home tomarrow.
  21. How about Central? Knox Central? Sullivan Central? McMinn Central? Bradley Central? Chattanooga Central?
  22. Could we get them to stay home Friday night also?
