  1. Who was there? Chill, if you saw some of it, what did you think?
  2. Did these teams play last night? If so, does anyone have a score or comment?
  3. Did these teams play last night? If so, does anyone have a score or comment?
  4. Where is the tourny being played?
  5. After all, Memphis is the real capitol of Mississippi!
  6. Big Cat, you've obviously been around a while...too bad you wern't paying attention...... Denton Jones...could be the best guard to ever come out of Knoxville. He was certainly the best player. Too bad he had the injuries he sustained in college. Jimmy McGill and David Vaught at post. (neither Dalton would belong, although Gary was pretty good and can still ball 30+years later) Coach at Carter(can't remember his name but he was a 20 point guy for a couple of years. Craig Diegle...6'6" point guard was a tough matchup for any team Devin Hundley or Zach Conner was the guard from a couple of years ago both could fill it up. As for your other choices, I don't remember Rodney Myers, Greg Keck or Wille Clark so I can't comment. Jim Lotz wasn't a basketball player he was an oboe player who was 6'8" and didn't even want to play and wasn't very good. There were three Mabrys at Central, none of which belong on this list. I had the opportunity to play ball with many of these players over the years and I can honestly say dear old Central High should have a much better basketball history than it has. Maybe one day basketball will be as important as football for the Bobcats.
  7. Thanks, I was out of town and could't make it. Central is playing well this year but having a hard time closing the deal. It is time for them to realize they are seniors(for the most part) and finish games. They have a very tallented 1st five with 4 seniors and a freshman.
  8. I havn't seen any mention of last nights Central at Clinton game. From the box score it looks like it was a classic. Too bad the Sentinel chose to tell us why Bearden lost last week instead of what happened at what looked like a great game at Clinton last night. SO, what happened?
  9. Does anyone know teams records and quality wins/losses?
  10. I don't agree. The only time I've seen Sharp this year was at the Central game and he was a non factor until free throw shooting time at the end of the game and he DID knock down those free throws. He lost his composure a couple of times when coach set him down and by my count he had 3 shots blocked and made two baskets. I believe I would take Alex Oliver over Sharp. I just don't think he has the body for D1. But then again, I was the one who said Dane Bradshaw would never play meaningful minutes at Tenn.
  11. Thanks, he really ads to Karns. He just kept making 3's last night and when Central overplayed it he wnt to the hole. Nice player.
  12. Oh, and the Central student section could learn something from the Beaver's students. Karns' fans showed up and made lots of noise. When I watched the Central students most were sitting quietly and chatting(with a few exceptions) while the Karns students stood and yelled the whole game...I bet the Bobcats arn't that quiet at the football games!
  13. And Brandon had two dunks. One that was wiped off by a lousy call. Booher was absolutely clutch at the end of the game. I'd like to know how many points he had from 3:00 to go in reg to the end of the 2nd OT. I thought Hermosillo was the one to watch but he kind of disappeared at the end. 2nd game in a row that Brandon Mcgill showed he was the best basketball player on the floor. He did a better job keeping focus this time at the end of the game. I think you have to give the Bobcats some time to get used to this winning thing, it's new to them.
  14. Does anyone know who is playing in the Super 16 tourney Dec 26,27,28? Bearden, of course and I know Central is playing again. Anybody know who else is playing?
  15. I still contend that the whole Prep Xtra was put together to get the coaches to do the Sentinels' work for them. It is a sorry excuse for basketball coverage.
  16. I don't think there are any games tonight. You know, if I could watch a girls game like, oh, AE and Oak Ridge it would be a little more bearable. As it is now, you have time to go get dinner and come back. You're post about the KNS coverage is on the money. I believe the whole Prep Xtra thing is to be able to use less reporters and get others to do their work for them. The Halls shopper does a better job on the north side. Far 82 CC 37 according to extensive coverage in the KNS
  17. This is always a good tourney. But, it would be much improved if they did all boys games one night and all girls games on a different night.
  18. I think the final was KHS 72 CHS 49. Karns dominated from the opening tip.
  19. I saw in the paper that Bearden won in a big way against PF. Have not seen a score for McMinn Cen and Farragut. Looks like Central/Bearden and Fulton vs winner McMinn/Farragut tonight
  20. Central 47...Howard 45 Looking at Howards schedule, Arts and Sciences was the only quality win. Central dominated the entire 1st 3 quarters and led by 14 to start the 4th only to let Howard back in. But they did pull it out in the end with a buzzer beater tip in by Chase Snyder. Fulton won in a blow out over Greenville. Final was about 15 and that was only because Fulton got sloppy at the end.
  21. Mon. 27th according to Knox News Sentinel: 4:00 Knox Central/Chat Howard 5:30 Fulton/Greensville 7:00 Bearden/Pigeon Forge 8:30 Farragut/McMinn Central picks...Fulton in a squeeker in the game of the night Bearden in a blow out McMinn Central in a surprise to Knox Co. but no one else and upset of the day...Central over Howard
  22. DB won the Chop House (soon to be Classic) in overtime 72-65. Point guard #14 for DB simply took over the game late in regulation. Karns missed a layup with about a second to go in regulation that would have won the game. Congrats to DB on the win. Two overtime wins in three games. Congrats to the folks at Knox Central for hosting this well run tournament. This could very well become a Thanksgiving tradition.
  23. South Greene beat Sevier Co last night in a great game. Two well coached teams. South Greene was especially impressive with their defense. They were outsized at virtually every position but did such a good job with help defense and switching they were able to come out on top. I really enjoyed watching these girls for the first time.
  24. Farragut had a 2 OT win over Knox Central last night....Hummm, maybe Farragut is not as good or Central is not as bad as everyone thought.
  25. Football is over for most now so who has looked good so far? I havn't seen much on scrimmages on here.
