  1. I think in no particular order that Clinton Oak Ridge Bearden South Doyle Farragut Maryville Karns Could all compete for the region title if they play well at the right time.
  2. I have seen both teams play this year and I have to say I'm a little surprised by the score. There is another thread on pure shooters and someone should put Parker Clement on it. If he gets a chance to set, it's money. He does as good a job of stroking it exactly the same each time as any kid I've ever seen. Rebelsman, there was a great highlight of Andy dunking on the news last night.
  3. The score was not in the Knoxville paper today but on the channel 8 news(the only one with decent high school coverage!), they had Jeff Co winning by 6 or 8. Don't remember the final.
  4. But you have to admit, the coaches did look a little better. Didn't they?
  5. The Bobcats got their 2nd win in a row tonight but the coaches still don't look good! They beat Cocke Co 75-47. Two in a row. They have Oak Ridge Friday in Fountain City and will have to step it up against the Wildcats to make it three.
  6. I'll have to second the Tyler Gaskin nomination. No flash, just results!
  7. I think this is one team Central can actually match up with. just a note... I was looking at the 13 man roster from the beginning of the year and there are 7 of those guys available to play today for one reason or another.
  8. Round two of Central and Karns. Central won a close game at home earlier in what was easily their best game of the year. Can Central's youngsters compete outside of their home floor? If Central can defend the 3 ball, they have a chance. Two of the better offensive players in Knox with Jody Fersner and Zach Conner. Not much going on in Knox this evening so come out and watch!
  9. I'm not sure but I heard he was attending a prep school. And I don't think his stunt played out very well.
  10. Then your coach is to be congratulated. Great program to start!
  11. If you want someone to do an And1 commercial with, he doesn't qualify but if you want someone who handles it and doesn't turn it over then gets the ball where it's supposed to go...you talking about... ... Zach Guilmire at Oak Ridge and he has done it against good competition
  12. All parents and coaches should read this article. Kudos to the coaches involved. http://www.gomemphis.com/mca/prep_sports/a...2577732,00.html Coaches, Sometimes YOU have more influence on high school players than even parents. I believe all coaches should take steps to influnce their young players to hit the books early and often. Many kids come in as freshmen and don't think class is important. By the time they figure out that it is, they are in a hole so deep that it is difficult to get out. This article is an eye opener for people to see what can be accomplished.
  13. Congrats to Lee on his game and on his eligability. I'm glad he's getting to play. He is missed at Central but we wish him well. I think Lee is just what Powell needs to compete with the Oak Ridges, Clintons, Bearden, Farragut and Maryvilles. He will bring an inside presense on both offense and defense.
  14. Heard on Dewey Warren's radio show that Powell at Central is still on.
  15. ALL of the Bearden team can shoot, however, Maryville better worry about the press. Bearden has a lot of speeed but not a lot of size. If the refs let them play body up defense Maryville will have to do a good job passing and cutting to overcome it. The matchup with Holliday and Andy should be a good one. They are about the same size. Holiday has some good inside moves but limited range. If Andy can draw him away from the basket you will have everyone else outsized. Bearden generally runs 5 in and 5 out every 3 or 4 minutes. Good luck!
  16. I think Nick Pasqua might be the most underated player in E Tn.
  17. Morris is the real deal. I watched him dominate this summer against the highest level of competition. Coach Lockhart chooses to play outside in instead of inside out. It's too bad one of the best players in the state never touches the ball unless he gets a rebound. The funny thing is Freeman is almost as good and just as big for Clinton. He has better touch and better hands but is not as gifted athletically.

  19. Go to web site and click on results and stats on the left.
  20. I disagree. AAU(or summer ball) gives kids a chance to compete at a level not available locally. In my experience, there are some summer coaches that simply say run and press. There are some very good coaches also. Also, most kids work on fundamentals with their high school coaches in the summer and use the summer tournaments to apply what they have learned. I have seen first hand, kids that have bigger improvements in each summer than during the high school season. I do agree that a good percentage of NBA players will be from Europe, but not because US ball is getting worse but because European bball is getting better.
  21. I'm not so worried about the Burbo being filled, just make sure the box is full!
  22. I think this has gotten out of the realm of high school basketball and would be a good thing to lock this thread. Too many people speculating about things they know nothing about, like someone's private life.
  23. Knox Central vrs Volunteer game scheduled for Sat. Dec 20 at LMU was cancelled because of weather. No known rechedule date at this point.
