You could call it the Marshall County Showdown if you like but tonight at Forrest Field of Dreams, the Lady Rockets will host Cornersville at 5:30, play Marshall County at 7:00 then Cornersville and Marshall County will play the night capper at 8:30pm. It has been 4 or 5 years since these teams have played in the regular season and tonight marks the 1st of a three year series between these solid programs. We expect a big croud in Chapel Hill tonight and should see some excellent softball. Good luck to all the teams and "Go Lady Rockets"

In no way were my statements meant to insinuate that other schools haven't or don't work hard. Forrest went into the off season knowing what they had to do and who they had to beat. They went out, hit the weights harder, worked on improving the offence and defence, and won a Single A State Title. Way to go Lady Rockets, Coaches, Moms, Dads and supporters of Forrest softball. Privates should all be in either two categories, D1 or D2, there is no gray area. The problem is though, they are in "A", and "AA", and it will likely not to change for quite some time if ever, given the gray area that is TSSAA. When you know that going in, when you know the hand your delt, you learn to play better poker, you learn to better use the cards you have. Can Forrest repeat? Maybe! But if they don't, I promise they will adjust and work to get there the following year and the year after and so on. Forrest's win in 2008 in no way makes up for the huge deficit in public school wins. But it sure feels good getting this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cascade 11 it was nice meeting you and your wife last night. Thanks for the kind comments and remember the hard work you are doing at Cascade will be rewarded in the future. Getting moms and dads involved, building a feeder program is what it takes to be sucessful. Your heart is in the right place, keep fighting the good fight and improving the fundamental skills. It will take you a long way.

Absolutly, only way to level the playing field

Forrest does not have a Jr. pitcher, Shelby Stinnett is a sophmore and has not committed to anyone. You must be thinking of Trinity who has the Renfroe girls who have committed to UT. Infact, Karen and Ralph Wheatly were there Fri. nite to see Forrest pound out a 10-4 win. The win today is special for everyone who has worked so hard to become one of the best public schools out there. We have come close several times and have been put out by privates each time. However, hard work, determination, playing physical and taking on any school that wants to play, builds the kind of character that will carry you thru tough games. Today, all that hard work was rewarded.

Great job Ladies, now go get Trinity. Great game this morning, the fans were loud and proud. Cornersville is a young team that will continue to make some noise. Before TSSAA re-aligned, these two teams played each other twice a year, now we don't play each other during the regular season, and I don't know why.

Refro had 4 strike outs last night, Stinnett had 8. Problem for Forrest was a duo of middle infielders played a whale of a game. Everything Forrest hit seemed to either go right at someone or these two were all over it. Trinity is a good team, no question. We will have to put more pressure on that defence to beat them tonight. Great game ladies, hard fought come from behind victory! Excelent performance from Stinnett, and a great heads up play from Gaby and Heather with the out at third in the 7th. Rest your arms and get mentally ready for tomorrows game with Trinity. As evident tonight, your fans will be there in huge numbers, supporting their Lady Rockets.

It is great to have two teams from Marshall County in state. I hope we don't get put into the same bracket, would be nice to have the chance to battle deep in the tourney. I will pack the choker leash just in case. lol GOOD LUCK LADY DAWGS!

Great Job Lady Rockets, You showed tonight that the bats are still there and also the desire. Great game, great croud, great atmosphere, great fun. Great job by the pitcher from Summertown, I wish I knew her name, she took a hard shot off the shin, I think in the first, walked it off and pitched the entire game. Great heart and performance by her. Also great to see LB and M, these two have a special place in the hearts and minds of a lot of Lady Rockets. Also great to see all the former Lady Rockets there tonight, it seems like every game they are there to support their team. Last few games, your numbers have been steadly growing. I bet you will see many more at state. Good job Shelby and the defence was stellar, rest your arms and get mentally ready for next week. You have been there, you know what it takes, now finish strong. Keep your focus and always remember, what ever type of adversity comes before you, Lady Rocket Pride will carry you through.

Pretty good picking Mrnoitall, right team, wrong opponents, Forrest beat Riverdale 5-1 and Blackman 4-1, I think. There was one mistake though, Forrest has the best field in the mid-state. Keep up the good work, it sure is fun to read!

It is a real shame that Marshall County and Forrest don't play each other every year. In the same since, why does Forrest and Cornersville not play anymore? Strange, with 3 schools in the same county.

Forrest will need their "A" game, but everyone will. At this point of the season, "A" game is what got you here. Foul shots will be critical, Forrest has let too many of those roll off last three games. Forrest must get Haun and Porter off the bench and involved quickly and keep the pressure up. Forrest's bench is their biggest asset. If the Lady Rockets play to their capability, given their depth, I think they win by 4. Wayne County is a solid team and deserve a lot of respect, if the Lady Rockets have a let down during the game, it could be over as quickly as it began. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS IN STATE AND GO LADY ROCKETS!!

Mt. Pleasant would have pulled the upset if they had played better. They didn't play their best either. What a shame.
