    12-AA

Marshall County plays at Page today at 1PM.
  6. Marshall County will play at Spring Hill on Sunday at 3PM
  7. District 9A Tournament at Eagleville postponed until Monday.
  8. Forrest at Huntland rescheduled for Wednesday, January 11 at 4 p.m.
  9. I would think Cornersville, Mt. Pleasant, Moore County, Huntland and Fayetteville.
  10. 2A Region 4 Columbia Academy Cascade Eagleville Lewis County Forrest Community
  11. My vote for 4A Back of the Year is Chris Walker from Marshall County. The kid is electric, a natural playmeker on both sides of the ball. Best I've seen at Marshall County since Dont'a Hightower. Here are his season stats: Rushing-88 carries for 919 yards, 16 TDs, 10.4 yards per carry Passing-3-3 TD Receiving-9-75 2 TDs All-Purpose Yards-1,395 3 Interceptions 1 TD 1 Punt Return TD 71 tackles on defense Also consider Marshall County quarterback Ashton Posey, who has also put up some huge numbers this year for the Tigers. Passing-138-199 2,293 yards, 16 TDs, .693 completion percentage, 126.7 QB Rating Rushing-48-156 yards 3 TDs
  12. I've seen the McClendon kid play from the sidelines all year, he is the real deal and is definitely worthy of a Class 2A Mr. Football Back of the Year nomination. Just ask the opposing coaches who they game plan for when they play Forrest and ask the kids that try to tackle him. Either they are in an ice bath the next day or massaging thier hamstrings from trying to catch him from behind. Here are his current stats: Rushing 189 carries 1,658 yards 20 touchdowns 1 fumble Passing 1-1 TD Recieving 6-132 2 TDs 1 punt return TD Should set single season school record for rushing yards and touchdowns this week versus Fayetteville. Also consider Junior Lineman Boone Sweeney for Class 2A Lineman of the Year, the kid is a beast! And his compatriot, senior Logan Ray deserves consideration as well, a great leader and he knows how to get to the quarterback on defense and is a rock on the offensive line.
  13. It's a shame such a great tournament was ruined by a terrible home plate umpire in the Silver Bracket final. He clearly did not know the rules and it seemed he felt like his ego was bigger then the game. An umpire in that big of a game should be cognizant of the rules and try to be as transparent as possible, not change the game with an obvious miscall. That is taking nothing away from East Roberston, who played a great game to win the title. Like in years past, these two squads will more than likely meet again in the region tournament, should be a heck of a game! Also, the tournament's lack of respect for the media members that were there covering the event for 12 1/2 hours on Saturday was disappointing. We are are professionals and we know what we are doing as far as never interfering with play. If there was rules that stated there should be designated media areas painted on the field, then why were they not provided, like the areas in Murfreesboro at the state tournament? It only takes a couple of sprays from a paint can to make a box? Our job is to report the event and as far as I know, out of all 24 teams there, we were the only media members reporting your event and supporting the teams and the girls that play this great game. Thank you, Anthony S. Puca Sports Writer Marshall County Tribune
