  1. anytime your PG has 7 turnovers, most chances are that you will not win the game. Sylvester is a true SG, but the year has almost ended and there has been ample time to adjust, given the talent level this kid posesses. There is no team chemistry with the Tribe this year. I also think, looking back at last year, that last year's team was deeper and had a PG in Throp. A team with the caliber players as the Indians have still need a "true" PG to mesh together and "control" tempo. You may be able to get away with it against most teams, especially around here, but without a PG, against teams equal to the playing level, the team missing a PG will, more-than-not, lose. Maybe the Tribe can get hot and rectify their situation, because now everyone has the same record and a new season is upon us after tomorrow. GOD Bless...... /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  2. where will the "Play-In" game be? Will it be a "Caged-Event?" /wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" /> I see love in the air between these two!!! /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" />
  3. DB just flat out didn't show for the game. And I believe you are looking at the Coach of the Year and Player of the Year on the same team in Cutlip and Odom. If you have it in neutral playing in the PALACE and with the District Championship on the line. Then as the old folks say...... "your wood is wet!!!" The only thing in my Alma's favor is that the District and Regionals will be played at the Dome. BUT!!!! CMO has his work cut out from this group of underacheivers, and I say this with no regrets, because this team was touted to be better than last year and hands down the conference and Regional favorites. I don't think ANY team from the IMAC can matchup with either the Toppers or the Indians, but my eyes are on who will have to travel and play Region 2? That will be no picnic!!! GOD Bless..... PS..... I have only one more question......where in the world is Carmen SanDiego? No but where is WACO's "Word of the Day?" His wisdom is MIA as of late.... and I know he has the inside scoop on what is wrong with the Indians.
  4. I prefer the Cialis 30 hour benefit. I can chose my times more appropriately. I have to hunt down my prey. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  5. It's time for the STG report as seen through the eyes of STOKOMO..... /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> This year has finally separated the pretenders from the contenders and now we have the original Three Musketeers (Science Hill, DB, & TN High) that have been in the forefront all year long, standing out once again. With the MoWest Trojans, not the twelve pack, and Rebels taking aim at each other tonight, it will be up to the Rebels to flex their muscles to show the league that they belong in the Big Nine Country after the shocking upset of Volunteer over IMAC rival Greeneville. Moving along, the Vikings have some nervous tension heading into Tuesday night??™s game with the ???Bad Boys??? of this year's conference (Crockett). The Vikes just want to get through this game with everyone still healthy and legally ready for the District Tourney. CAP1 was over-heard tellng his son to "take it on the chin like a man tonight!!!" /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Another bench brawl and it will affect the Districts, so coaches are telling their players to be on their best behavior or face TSSAA detention!!!! One of the deadest teams of late might be hitting their stride in the nick-of-time. The Falcons, who just stunned the Green-Devils on Saturday, could use that game as motivation and try to upset East, playing for the number four seed. Coach Whittemore has been listening to self-help tapes sent by CAP1 to improve his image and stop those ???Private Eyes??? (Hall & Oates) from posting bad messages on coacht. /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> Tonight will be homecoming for the Falcons and they will introduce the Homecoming Queen, sponsored by John Deere, at halftime. The first 150 fans will receive a complimentary tractor ???Hot Wheels??? memorabilia. The myth of Daniel Boone killing a Bear has been changed to a Cougar. At least that??™s what they hope for in tonight??™s contest that has been names the Battle of Blue Licks. The Central Cougars hope for a win and a loss by East to regain the fourth seed. Tony Vaughn was last seen slipping Charlie McConnell a "twenty-twen-twen" to have Bart ref the Falcons/Patriots game while Big Ron will ref the Boone/Cougars game. This will be Boone??™s Homecoming game and will have their Queen of the Night crowned by the local leader of the ???Quaker Community.??? The Trailblazers will be giving away fifty Daniel Boone half Dollars. The Daniel Boone half dollar was a U.S. commemorative coin issued from 1934 to 1938 in honor of the bicentennial of Boone's birth. The final game on the card for Tuesday Night is a DOOZY!!!!! No other way to put it folks. The Hilltoppers host the Indians with the conference championship on the line. Since the 01-02 season, the Tribe hold an 11 to 8 winning margin against the Toppers. The Indians are my favorite to bring home the Championship as their players are once again healthy, but the Hilltoppers may have something to say about that. The Toppers??™ coach has methodically put together a dangerous team that has played off the charts as of late. CMO is still scratching his head as Freedom Hall suddenly became unavailable. It has been heard that Obama himself will be attending the game and handing out stimulus packets, with Bill Meade helping, to the first 1000 fans. **** THIS JUST IN!!!!!! **** Charlie McConnell has just given information that he will come out of retirement to ref the Topper/Indian game!!!! /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> Anyway??¦..These teams are in place to decide our Big Nine Champion. As the drama unfolds, I will deliver a fishing report for teams leaving us during the first round of the District. For some fans it??™s time to getcha popcorn ready!!! For others, it??™s time to get their tackles ready? Stay tuned??¦..and GOD Bless!!!!!!
  6. No.... I graduated from DB in 1987, playing under VanHuss for four long, gruesome years (LOL). I went to King College before suffering a rotator cuff tear and ended my college ball as a freshman. I roomed with Whittemore while there and we became friends. Then I happened to coach Chucky Lindholm and never knew until then that he coached at Volunteer. GOD Bless......look out for that STG later tonight..... /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  7. WOW!!! Did I see that score of Volunteer and Greeneville? Way to go Falcons!!!! You guys surprised the IMAC and represented the Big Nine well. This year has been a year of inconsistent play, battles, and players missing games (Trent 4 games bromen thumb, Pearcy out 2 months, and Parker playing through stitches). Maybe this will spring em' up to start a string of good play. The District Tourney should be a great one this year. Will the final four (DB, TN High, Science Hill, and Central or East) be in the final four this year? Or will one of the lower seed teams upset one of the Big Dogs and show they can play with them? I am guessing there will be ONE upset this year!!! Who? Don't know yet but my bet is there will be one. God Bless..... /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  8. Stokomo's Tainted Glass (STG) articles. Coming soon to your website..... /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  9. I'm not sure when CMO started but I went all the way back to the 01-02 season and DB has the upper hand with a record of 11-8. The last time Science Hill swept the season series against DB was 01-02. DB sept the Hilltoppers last year (4-0). So if you take out last year's sweep, the Hilltoppers would have the edge, but that's why they play the games. This game will be a "barn burner," especially since they switched it to the Palace /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Guess they wanted a chance at the title instead of the money. GOD Bless and look for my STG article Monday evening.... /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  10. My bad... I thought Parker and Pearcy were Jr's. So that leaves Moore and Trent next season. It will be very hard to replace them with inexperienced JV'ers coming up. It's a whole different ballgame from JV to Varsity. Bennett is like a step-son that you actually like andhave watched grow up before your eyes. Congrats for the 1000 point club and hope the best that life can give you with dedication and hard work, as I know you will put forth. GOD Bless.....
  11. I might have to get there and lose a few pounds. A man like myself could stand to lose a few inches off my waiste. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  12. There are really no consistent players like a few years ago. Bennett is the only one with any experience from last year. The others are feeling their way through this season. Even without Bennett next year, they should be a lot better than this year. It's unfortunate for Bennett, but that's how life is sometimes. I've watched Bennett since he was in the 7th grade going to camps with us. SENIORS!!!! Time flies and in a week and 1/2 it will be down to win-or-go-home situation. ENJOY & GOD Bless..... /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  13. Stokomo@charter.net CAP Singletary, where are your glasses? PRICELESS!!!!!! Probably the best sporting quote of the year....IMO......
  14. You are 100% correct. You cannot coach the same players for TSSAA and AAU. But!!!!! I have not coached AAU in four years. The only person from Volunteer I have ever coached was Chucky Lindholm as a freshman. It was the year before I started coaching for Volunteer. I was a member of the Coaching staff, but due to other obligations, I have stepped aside for this season. Any other questions you would like to know? Boxers or Briefs? Black or White socks? Stocking cap or panty-hose? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  15. I have been cranky a bit. Got three ladies in the house (37, 10, & 8). Four if you include the female dog. I'm also an I.T. (geek) for the company I work for. They are opening restaurants like crazy and I'm the traveling man installing these POS Systems. Anyways.....good luck to all tonight, wish I could make that Viking Hilltoppper game. It has all the makings to be one heck of a "fight" /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> GOD Bless........ /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> PS.....please notice the glasses above. These are specially made STG.
  16. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> I wear my sunglasses at night. Oh! My bad, was singing that 80's song by Cory Hart......showing my age now huh.... Anyways.....I really like WACO's "Word of the Day" and you could call mine "Stokomo's Tainted Glasses" if that would suffice. Everybody needs a little "STG," not HGH though. Or was that everybody needs a little TLC /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" oops! That was the women's group name. My bad again. I could start out something like: "Due to inclement weather, many of the Big Nine Brawl games have been cancelled. Coach Witcher and the Vikes are FIGHTING for their lives to stay atop the conference. With the WWF title at stake, the Vikes will host the Hilltoppers tonight in an NBmustCee game of the week. The key for the Vikes will be if QB Corey Young can withstand the Blitz by the Hills swarming & slap-happy defense. Gotta watch that Cover 2 scheme of Cutlip. There will be slippery and wet conditions when the Indians travel far East and play the dangerous Patriots, hoping weather isn't a factor on the gridiron. South will wear extra protection in tonights matchup with the Falcons, who have trimmed those claws of late and need a win desperately to stay out of the "No-Fly" zone of the 8 & 9 seeds (the Death Penalty for the District). The last game on the Fight Card for Thursday will sparr Central vs. Crockett. With Crockett being TKO'd last week, look for them to rebound against a smooth moving and light on their feet Cougar team. Quick and agile, the Cougars like to dance around the ring without taking too many punches in the face (you know that Pretty Ricky image). The gates will have metal detectors for this game, checking for Brass Knuckles and Nunchucks.... The first 50 fans will receive a "Vannoy & Albright Bobble-Head" doll.
  17. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> WOW, my opinions and your facts? That was a stretch there. And the reason why teams from east TN can't win the big ones is because out west they DO let them play more physical than anything around here. If you think I like physical play, then you know nothing about me. I played for VanHuss from 83-87 so I know what I'm talking about when I stated what I did. And you are the only one stating no matter what. Where in my post did I say that VanHuss said no matter what? I said that he said the player better not make the basket, meaning you should be smart about your foul. Not hard, but don't reach and get a ticky tack foul. Buck preached positioning and not fouling, but if you do foul, send them to the line to shot two, not and-ones. I've seen other areas of play and it is a lot more physical than in these hills. Coach W and I sometimes don't agree with things, and he will be the first to tell you. He likes 1/2 court, post play, and a physical game (not dirty). I like more guards, with a lot of defensive pressure and pressing, if you have them. Just look back at two seasons ago, Volunteer's most wins in the Big Nine ever. We started four guards; and we pressed a lot more. You will have your way of seeing the siuation, that's fine, but you don't know that it's taught. Whatever you think of Coach W, know this......I have witnessed his caring for kids, giving kids rides home when parents didn't show or could not get their child from practices or games, helping kids that never played for the basketball program with shoes and sweats that otherwise would have holey clothes or shoes. I have seen and helped out with other Seniors with other schools that did not have a scholarship make calls and help them get college scholarships. I have been there when players' parents have lost their jobs and W would try and help them find a job to keep their houses. So....you go ahead and keep downing W if you insist. I have never said these things because these are personal matters, but you are getting into a personal attack on him. I hope you can move on from this and just enjoy your "favorite" team play. GOD Bless and good luck to you & yours......
  18. did you pay SI just for the swimsuit edition? /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  19. You can hide behind this screen name if you want to. I know for a fact you do not know what you are talking about. Your referrence to "Take him out" is crazy. If they played that way, then why would we lead the conference in the most three-point plays the old fashioned way? You would also see it in every game. If you look at any game film, you would see that for the most part our players make weak, foolish fouls that result in "and-ones." And your comment about "he better not get the ball out of his hands" is ridiculous. By the time he would have said that complete sentence while the player was shooting a layup, the play would be over and we would be going the other way. As I stated before, the past of what has happened HAS GARNERED WHAT PEOPLE THINK ABOUT VOLUNTEER. I'm not looking through anyone's glasses. I am telling you what I know and if you feel otherwise, that is your OPINION, BUT!!! It is not taught. Buck VanHuss has told me and every other player he ever coached that "we don't give up and-ones" meaning a three-point play the old way. And he meant that if you are going to foul a player he better not make the basket. Translation......don't make a reaching, weak foul. It's not dirty and if you know anything about coaching, you will know that any player who gives a foul-and-basket made will send every coach into a frenzy. If you will take the time to read my posts, you will see that the ONLY thing I'm saying is...it's not taught. If you need more clarification please call me at 956-8867. I never hide behind a name, and for you to say you sit behind Volunteer's bench is a total lie. You are not a fan and haven't been behind our bench. I took the liberty to read all of your posts on here, and you have all the insight of a Boone fan, unless you are also lying in those other posts. As I said before.....the more false accounts you give, the less credit worthy your posts become. Your credit is about to be revoked. Do some research before you make false accusations and false whereabouts, because you don't sit behind Volunteer's bench. You can't be at all the Boone games and Volunteer's at the same time now can you? GOD Bless.... /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  20. Where I see most blown charging calls is when a defensive player is moving and get s called for a block, but is in position to take the charge. A defensive player doesn't have to be standing still. As you said before, they must be in position. A lot of defensive players are in position and sliding along with the offensive player who then invades the defender's space. This is still a charge even though the defender is moving. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> GOD Bless
  21. This is not for anyone else but NET....... How do you know he teaches to play dirty? I AM a coach on the staff, and I will let you know it is NOT taught. What your opinion is is different from what you THINK you know. Whatever your opinion is..... I don't care, but when you say you KNOW, then I must step in. Believe what you want because it is only YOUR OPINION, not fact! There have been instances in the past that have garnered your OPINION to be what it is, BUT these are individual instances and if it were taught, you would have heard a lot more than just the two games against Crockett this year. DB & TN High fans were itching to give a report of dirty play and guess what? None happened. And people were watching closely....... So, in the future, report what you know and say what your opinion is. There's nothing more credit damaging than to give a false report of something you know nothing about. GOD Bless......
  22. This goes out to Capt. Billy Mitchell who played for the Tribe from 83-87. He passed away from a massive heart attack. He was classmate (1987) of mine and fine gentleman. As an alumni, he came to DB football games periodically. RIP and God Bless......
  23. Thank you for the kind words. For many years as you stated, my family vacations were during AAU travels, but we got to go to my wife's hometown of Detroit for two nationals and Memphis more than I cared to go but great BBQ events. I took this year off from Volunteer because work demands too much of my time and getting back into coaching AAU is something I thought about but this year might not be a possibility. Is SM in Elizabethton, well closer to Unaka. That is where I met you. My BOOM kids (Jamison and Larry) played on that squad, great kids. Anyway.....go Big nine and can't wait til District Time. Hopefully I will get to make some of the games at the Dome!!! GOD Bless!!!!!
  24. CAP...never wanted an apology, just equality. As I stated in my previous posts, I never make excuses for anyone. I only point out when it is necessary to correct the errors. I have played, coached, watched, and taught East TN basketball for most of my life, except for the short Jenkins KY stint. There is a major difference when someone claims something is taught, and that is what my defense has been all about. I have been around the Volunteer program for six years, and what people claim on here is not true. Skunk and some others on here know that I would never condone teaching immoral acts by a coach to their players, let alone off the court actions. The past is the past and opinions form out of those actions from the past. Moving along to future court action.....will you be coaching this year? Sylvester? Anyone gonna take these good players outside these hills and let them experience better competition? Also, how did you guys do last year? We met last summer but I bet you don't remember where CAP....
