  1. In 2003 USJ went into the championship game undefeated and lost in 8 innings to Davidson Academy 8-7, DA had lost earlier in the tournament . At that time the TSSAA was using the NCAA college world series format. The NCAA has since changed the format to double elimination and the TSSAA has not. Four of the 2005 USJ State Champion players played for the Bruins in 2003 and entered the 2005 tournament determined that it would not happen again, and it didn't!
  2. Am I the only one that got that? Cub Scout.. Eagle Scout = Boy Scouts Thought it was funny.. With Josh Liles on the field It will be a great opporutunity for not only the USJ players but the team playing USJ to be seen by college and professional scouts. Josh is used to this, he has spent the last 3 years with Dulins. Spencer did a great job..
  3. 2-A ball is not new to USJ, they have been playing 2-A teams for years. Last year they played 20 games on their schedule that were either 2-A, 3-A or Div II. The Bruins will continue to compete. USJ and Goodpasture ( to name a few) moving up will only make 2-A ball stronger.
  4. USJ should have several: In Single A ball you will find none better , whether it was hitting, finding a way to get on base, great base running or playing their position as if every game were their last. Spencer Nelson - Pitching,......sums it up Clayton Gant- Pitching.... sums it up Andrew Long - CF...... great catches, fast Josh Liles - C......what a arm and speed, Brian Petty - 1B......power hitter
  5. What about the all tourny team ? Will tbca do one this year? My vote for MVP - USJ pitcher Spencer Nelson the team would also include Kennedy White (P) USJ Clayton Gant (P) USJ 6 of 13 ,2 HRs, DBL, .461 Andrew Long (OF) USJ 9 of 15, 2 DBLS, .600 avg Josh Liles © USJ 8 of 17, triple, .470 avg William Wallace (OF) USJ 6 of 13, .461 avg Hunter Garrett (DH) USJ, 2HRs, triple Brian Petty (1B) USJ 2 HRS Who else?
  6. Looks like it was a great team effort on the Bruins on a big win over Huntingdon, I heard they looked like they were on a mission. Total Brun hits 17 ;Liles 3-5, Long 4-4 HR, Nelson 4-4 and a great job pitching Jackson Sun article Best of luck to both teams as they pursue their quest for a state championship also to Southside
  7. I might need to be corrected on this but I don't think they (Fayette) have been playing in the TSSAA that long, they were in the Mississippi private division. So they have probably never have the made the Region in TN , unless it was over 10 years ago. Surprised they beat McDonald and Company...
  8. Thats what I hate about list someone that is deserving gets left off. My apologies to the players: Dement, Grimm and Glenn
  9. In no certain order JCS : Juniors: Sheffield, McDonald, Fowler, Melton USJ : more than 3 top players Seniors: Ross, Long, Wallace, Petty and Garrett ( injured) Juniors: Nelson, Henson Sophmores: Liles Freshman: Gant I believe several on the bench could start for other teams, From what I 'm hearing its a team effort some nights some hit better than others and some play defense better than others. Adamsville: Wolford
  10. Are you serious?? Bruin baseball fans have been called alot of things but never jealous! 1999 State Champions 2001 State champions 2002 State Champions (40-6) 2003 State runner up ( 42-10) 2004 3rd place state tournament (41-9) 3 consecutive seasons with 40 plus wins
  11. Good Job Bruins ! thumb I talked with a team dad this week and he says everyone on the team is doing a great job batters 1-9. Says they have hitting depth on the bench. The senior leadership is there and apparently has carried over from football. Coach Dyer must be very happy today with the dominating win against Goodpasture. What was the atmosphere at the game like?
  12. USJ beat NSHS last year and Coach Harrell was the coach, I believe he got ejected that game.
  13. Congrats Lady Bruins on a great dominating win over S. Fulton, the Lady Devils scored 1st on a three pointer and never led again USJ led by as much as 19 , Great year for the 4 USJ seniors: Alvey, Brush, Metcalf and Page (out with torn ACL) Good Luck with your 2nd trip to state during your senior year thumb Alvey and Brush - Volley Ball Metcalf - Soccer
  14. How bout it... TCA, JCS, JCM, USJ, SSHS, NSHS, Liberty and Madison. Lots of baseball represented locally.. How's everyone lookin?

    DCA @ USJ

You will find Golfpro72 @ JCS you need to check all his post he is not a USJ supporter, as for Hobock ask Golf Pro according to other post they are good friends. DCA congrats and good luck this Friday you have a very good team, that executes very well. You were the better team Friday night, No excuses from USJ you were the better team. Tyler you had a great senior year 13-1 is great ....many people would love to be in your shoes and then there's others that want to bash you just because of who you play for... It has always been that way and will continue.... I once heard a coach say you must be doing something right when everyone hates you. Congrats again to DCA players, coaches and fans

    JCS @ USJ

1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 The years USJ was won the region JCS won their first region title in 2003 In the late 90's and since USJ/JCS have had many region title games This will be the last time these 2 schools will play each other for a region title
  18. If USJ is put in a 9 or 10 team region then there is only room for 1 or 2 non region games, then you have to look at scheduling and see if it can work out, for the non region teams they might not have openings when USJ does. ctshizzle aren't you from JCS, just wondering you seem to speak alot for USJ I'm confused. It would be a shame to see the USJ / JCS rivalry come to an end but hey folks this could be the final year.

    JCS @ USJ

Not USJ or JCS..... 101.5 or 1390 radio station is doing it, not sure which one... aren't they sister stations? Don't know why they are doing it at this game, been hearing about it for a while. This is not being put on ( paid for or sponsored) by either school they just happen to be playing ball that night where the firework show is taking place. I have heard it will be bigger than any firework show put on at the JAXX games.
  20. 1st off USJ is not taking Riverside lightly, they have had long practices, watched game tapes all week, preparing as they do every week because they know every team they play is going to bring their best game . I believe Coach Goff has 2 football victories over Coach Marley. Last years game @ Riverside was close and that was without Ross, Pappis, Wallace, Garrett and the senior leadership of this team . Goff has always been a great motivator and will bring a very motivated team to Jackson in hopes of giving USJ their 1st loss. Heck he might even use CoachT to Motivate.... Good Luck Bruins!
  21. Josh Liles of University School of Jackson was the leading reciever for McNairy County with 3 picks in the 1st half. Not sure how many he has for the season.
  22. Josh Liles had no trouble covering him .......3 interceptions tonight. Congrats Bruins on a big victory against a very good McNairy squad. USJ lead the whole game.
  23. Are you serious .. What couple of years would that be? 1997 - 13-1 1998 - 14-1 1999 - 12-1 2000 - 13-2 2001 - 12-2 2002 - 13-1 2003 - 6-6 2004 - 5-0 (as of today)
  24. The jamboree was 7 weeks ago and means nothing ... The Indians have improved since then and I bet USJ is not takin' them lightly... The Indians will bring their best game to Kirkland Field ... everyone always does.. Coach Marley and staff will have the Bruins ready ...
