  1. I will be making the trip to the Boro to pull for the Irish. I followed them at the end of the season and through the tournaments and they are a fun team to watch if you like defense and execution, I wish them luck... GO IRISH! 3Ball!
  2. Defense Defense Defense... thats what Catholic is about and when a team is known for defense, they almost always win ugly, but thats what good defense does for you.. Matt better bring the shooting touch with him, if Catholic hopes to survive.. I will be there supporting the Irish as I was at Loudon. Good Luck Irish!
  3. Sure Matt Parton didnt have the greatest offensive show during the district tournament, but I will take the way he plays defense and the way he handles the ball when the game is on the line over any guard that I have seen this season. Lets be honest during the district tournament all the other coaches had one thing on their minds dont let Matt Parton beat you with the 3ball, but he managed to find a way to put Catholic in position to win by scoring 4 or 5 in a row when needed or by taking the other teams point out of the equation by playing defense, the kid simply tooking a beating physically in the district tournament but at the the end of every game he kept the Catholic offense under control and when it gets crunch time not many teams seem to be as under control as the Irish. Solid coaching, tough D, Post players that are relentless, and a guard that leads by example are qualities of a good ball club. True the well have their hands full with Seymour and the other 3 from the other district, but as always when the Irish are on the court its not how many points they score, but its how many they allow you to score. Irish basketball is all about defense and 5 straight 20 win seasons seem to tell you that they are doing something right. Good Luck Catholic! and maybe the region tournament is when the "Matt Parton Show" begins.
  4. The Tigers need to play that hard nose defense that has earned them this spot and they have to avoid the 3 or 4 min scoring droughts that have haunted them this season, with that being said as I said earler the Tigers will win and move to round 2 and more importantly move one step to a return to the Boro..
  5. This game presents some matchup problems for the Irish, but I think Catholic with their relentless post play, clutch play down the stretch, and a guard in Matt Parton that leads by example by scoring 25 when he has to, or playing tough defense, or the most importantly he handles the ball and doesnt make mistakes that hurt his team.. I would say this has upset potential, but I find it hard to believe that Matt Parton with his shooting touch is going to have the same offensive performance in the region that he had in the district. He scored 18 in the whole district tournamet after averaging almost 17 a game in the regualr season, I think he goes for 18 or more and the Irish win a close one thats not decided until the final 3 min. Good Luck Catholic.
  6. 24 I hope that you are correct I would like to see the Tigers go up there and have this game in hand by halftime and allow them the ability to rest some players and allow them to mentally focus on the task ahead...

  8. The Tigers have one of the most difficult matchups that the have seen in a longtime in the first round of a region tournament. A lot of factors make this a difficult matchup one obvious factor is the potential of the Tigers having a let down after such an emotional loss to Cosby, Secondly talk about a homecourt advantage, the Orange will be out in force making it one of more the difficult environments that the Tigers have seen all season. Rockwood traditnoally has had all kinds of problems when the make the journey up to Oneida. With all that being said I think the Tigers have to start strong and get the crowd out of the game early, the Tigers have to play in the paint and around the basket and let the guards shoot the 3, or Moffitt to drive and dish. Defense will be the name of the game in this first round match up and I think that Coach Paul Kamikawa will have the Tigers focused and they will win a tight game that at times make look ugly, but that seems to be when the Tigers are at their best. Good Luck Tigers!
  9. Coalfield is defintely one of those basketball teams that carry that football style of play with them on the courts, too bad that during tournament time that doesnt work.. Cosby will have a big first quarter and should be able to put it on cruise and starting looking ahead to round 2.
  10. Tigers have to score early and hang on.. Go Tigers!
  11. W'Burg better not be underestimated, they are still waiting to play a complete game and this may be the week, but I dont see that happening..GP by 21.. I am pulling for them though... Good Luck Dogs....
  12. I think that Tigers will ride their defense to this win. I see Rockwood winning by 24 in which they do not allow SG to find the end zone...
  13. I like Corey Payne from Rockwood, he has improved his game incredibly and He brings leadership and a will to win.
  14. I think Alcoa is the real deal, but Rockwood did have some poor play in the ball game, but I am not sure if the Tigers brought their A game, that they would have won at this point in the season.. As a Tiger fan, I hope that they keep improving and take it one ball game at a time and make it count in the playoffs.. Good Luck to both teams the rest of the season. Go Tigers!
  15. I think that Rockwood will go in to Meigs Co and come out with the win, but I think its going to be closer that a lot of RHS fans think. Rockwood by 10. Phil 4:13
  16. What does all the bashing and smack being talked about ppl have to do with the two teams that will be playing their hearts out on the field? Besides the way that I see it is this just the first game between this 2 teams this season, the second one will be a battle in the playoffs. Go Tigers! Micah 7:7-9!
  17. In the last 11 Alcoa has won 9 ballgames including a playoff encounter between the 2 squads. Alcoa has been playing great ball since the end of last season and The Tigers seem to play to the level of their competition with that being say if you look at this game on paper and based on tradition you will see that Alcoa should win easily, but as Lee Corso would say, "Not so fast my friend." This Rockwood team has battle all year and consistently finds a way to win, and winning at Kingston showed that they could go onto the road into hostile environments and walk away with a W. Alcoa has all the playmakers in the world and on the offensive side of the ball the Tigers are not lacking firepower led be senior QB Corey Payne and a host of Tiger ball carriers, I think that key to this game will be the way the Rockwood linebackers respond to the speed of Alcoa and they way they tackle and if they can take the ground game away and make Aloca one dimensional, if they can keep Alcoa under 150 yds on the ground, I think the Tigers can go into Alcoa and come out with the W, I think the key on offense will be if the Tigers OLine can open up holes to run through and if they can give Corey enough time to find the seams in the Alcoa defense and to hit the big play. I think that this game is going to come to kicking and with that being said I think the Tigers will pull out the 31-27 victory on the road. Good Luck, Go Tigers! Phil 4:13
  18. Chase Clem #7 is a 5'5 155 freshman. He is very atheletic and has a lot of talent. The most important thing about him is his work ethic and attitude, hes not only a leader on the field, but off as well.I cant say enough about the positive things he brings to the field and to the field house. He will have a great impact on the program before his 4 years are up. Go Tigers! 27 1..... sorry had to...
  19. Good luck, nothing like beating a team from "H-Town" to make your day better.. Go Tigers!
  20. Good luck this week! thekid03 I will be there this week at FBC and it would be nice to see everyone of you all there also! Go Tigers! Some big games against big rivals, but I am sure that things will be OK. Does anyone know what the pitching rotation is going to look like this week?
  21. It's true that Rockwood does lose a talent due to graduation next season, but as it has been said, "Tradition doesn't graduate." As long as Coach Lane continues to direct the program things will be OK at Rockwood. The 8th grade class coming up as a lot of potential to produce big things in several sports at RHS. I have talked with several coaches from the middle and high school and the all say the same thing about this 8th grade class and that is if they stay focused then they are going to do big things. One 8th grader in particular has a lot of raw talent, but can't seem to get past the fact that it isn't all about him as everyone found out during the basketball season at RMS, but that is for another time and place. It was tough day against Cookeville, but those games are all a part of building a championship team and program especially a class A program. Good luck the rest of the season! Go Tigers! BMatthews Micah 7:7-9
  22. If Scooter and Carson play the coach Meadows and the Pats will roll, if they dont play then DB will win.. Go Pats!
  23. I think that Armes is the difference in a close one that can go either way, but i wish MPG best of luck at CHS.. hope you top 200.... Wartburg 28 Coalfield 20
  24. Rockwood Tigers vs Harriman Blue Devils- The oldest and most competitive Rivalry in the state and Rockwood leads the overall series by a n handful of wins...Throw the records out its all about county pride when these 2 hook up...I know as a former RHS tiger nothing is more excititng then Harriman week and the desire to totally dominate them remains even to this day...
