  1. Green Hill up 17-7 in the 3rd. I’m listening online...the guys seem to do a good job, however they’ve continued this head-scratching mistake of claiming this is a region game. It is absolutely not. Green Hill is not in a region this year but will be placed in a region starting next year. They just took over Republic’s schedule when they shut down their program. That’s it. Just because you take over a team’s schedule does not automatically put you in that region. It just gave them an easy way to put together a schedule in Year 1. Every game is a non-region game this year. Very simple. It does not count for a region win for the winner nor does it count for a region loss for the loser. It’s just unbelievable that would make this continuous mistake as the season progresses. Hope they finally figure this out. Ask the coach...he’ll explain it.
  2. Agree. This Shelbyville team is just hitting its stride and running the football! That will be big in the cold weather/playoffs. Another Beech vs. Shelbyville 2nd Round game could be a classic! It just too bad Cunningham and several other starters get sidelined by the heath department and whoever else for “contact tracing”. Most of them are perfectly fine. I realize this is happening to kids and teams all over the state. It’s a ridiculous protocol. They should be able to produce a negative test and go on with life/football! How will we deal with the flu moving forward? Quarantines? Shutdowns? Contact tracing? The flu is way worse on high school kids. What a fiasco this has become.
  3. Funny how you picked out the oldest posts and not the ones where I’ve praised them and said “I was wrong!” Predictions can turn out wrong...this just in. I have zero against Warren County. When is last time they’ve beaten Blackman and also Cookeville? This rarely happens. What do they have returning? How many seniors? Is it not a “once in a blue moon” season?! Explain yourself. What is the future for this program? Prove me wrong. Are they going to continue these types of seasons from now on? Maybe we can touch base this time next year and see who was right. That’s probably the fairest thing to do. I expect a significant drop off. We shall see. Enjoy the ride, but no reason to get cocky or overconfident because of this one season. It has to be sustained over time in my opinion to avoid that “once in a blue moon season” label. The proof will be next year and following years.
  4. Contact tracing is an absolute joke!!! Ruining kids’ seasons all over the state...for nothing. They are asymptomatic and very likely not even contagious! This was going to be a great one. Wouldn’t be surprised if they meet in Round 3.
  5. Region 3 should win 3 out of 4 at least.
  6. Agree. It’s a brutally bad projection. Brutal and unfair. Dumb.
  7. Warren County is left off your list too. Clarksville should be the cutoff with 49 total in 6A and 49 in each of the other five classes. There are 294 football playing schools in Division I. We’ve gone through a lot of this on the Classification and 6A Region Realignment Threads.
  8. Shelbyville is at 1,532 but not on your list. Not sure if you left anyone else off.
  9. Well said! Good points. It’s what we have to live with...and we are used to it.
  10. Are these new, updated enrollment numbers? Confused.
  11. ...Or maybe Independence. One of those three is almost a definite to get to Cookeville obviously.
  12. Are you from Nashville? If so, you would naturally enjoy the coverage. All of us on the outside of the city likely feel differently. We get left behind for the most part...Tullahoma, Marshall County, Shelbyville, Warren County, DeKalb County, etc., just to give some obvious examples not just this year but every year.
  13. I don’t expect this game to be close...and most people know it. That probably explains the lack of interest. In fact, MyTV30 probably made a mistake by taking this game over Shelbyville and Summit in my opinion. Oakland is probably three touchdowns better than Riverdale or more! But, who knows, I could be wrong.
  14. I agree for the most part. Very lazy! Also, he stays very focused on the metro schools and all the Division II schools, but gives very little coverage to anyone else. He tweets about the food on his grill almost every day, so that's his ultimate focus obviously.
  15. It's not really that bad. It's just the geography of the situation. For those three teams, its much better than the alternative of being put in with the Crossville teams. An 1 1/2 drive beats a 2 to 2 1/2 drive for sure.
  16. For a guy who covers high school football in this state in a very big way, he sure made some very big blunders and bad assumptions in this projection! I’ll point out three very simple and specific examples: 1) No way should they put 9 teams in Region 3 in 6A! That would be insane and massively unfair with all the ways to divide the midstate which is loaded with 6A schools. 2) Cascade, geographically and traditionally, fits way better in Region 5-2A than Region 3 and his numbers make no sense! He has 8 teams in Region 3 and 5 in Region 5. Put Cascade in its natural spot in Region 5 and it fixes both issues. 3) DCA must remain in Division II East Region to keep things balanced. Why take them out and put 7 teams in the Middle Region and leave only 5 in the East?? Silliness. He must not have thought about anything very long to make some of these mistakes, and I certainly hope the TSSAA isn’t paying attention. There are probably some other examples too. Obviously, most regions turn out naturally without much thought. It’s the specific head-scratchers that become highlighted when he puts all this out.
  17. I’m with you. They all should and likely will be Region 4. So many teams in one big midstate cluster that they could do just about any random mixing and matching.
  18. Who from Rutherford County in that region?
  19. This is what I posted on the other thread. I agree that they should put Oakland in Region 5 for a variety of reasons. So, in my estimation below they could easily just flip flop the naming of "Region 4" and "Region 5". They may do things a little differently this time around besides just going straight geography or tradition, simply because of the huge growth in middle Tennessee and the large number of 6A schools in close proximity to each other. In the end, who knows?? It's fun to put a plan together, trying to be as fair as possible with competitive balance and not be so "status quo". The TSSAA should take note. Additionally, please, please get rid of the tiebreaker rules including anything to do with overall record/non-region games!! Use region games to determine all tiebreakers! You can do points allowed in the first half or point differential in the first half between the tied schools in a multi-team tie very easily. It's not rocket science. Region 1 William Blount High School Maryville High School Morristown-Hamblen High School East Jefferson Co. High School Science Hill High School Dobyns-Bennett High School Region 2 Bradley Central High School Cleveland High School Bearden High School Farragut High School Hardin Valley Academy Region 3 Cookeville High School Hendersonville High School Lebanon High School Beech Senior High School Gallatin High School Region 4 Siegel High School LaVergne High School Smyrna High School Stewarts Creek High School Oakland High School Region 5 Warren County High School Riverdale High School Blackman High School Rockvale High School Shelbyville Central High School Coffee County High School Region 6 Summit High School Centennial High School Franklin High School Brentwood High School Ravenwood High School Independence High School Region 7 Clarksville High School Rossview High School West Creek High School Dickson County High School John Overton High School McGavock High School Antioch High School Cane Ridge High School Region 8 Whitehaven High School Germantown High School White Station High School Houston High School Arlington High School Cordova High School Bartlett High School Collierville High School
  20. Yeah, Dickson County could go either way for sure. If they wanted 7 and 7 in each region then it makes sense. For competitive balance, I personally would keep that Williamson County region with just those six since it’s such a tough group of teams. Meanwhile, the other region technically would be weaker competitively but yet having 8 teams makes it more fair, fighting for only four playoff spots with 7 region opponents.
  21. Exactly. Do we know if the three have made any decision moving forward?
  22. Cane Ridge and Antioch will not get split up. Oakland and Siegel will not get split up. I don’t think Cane Ridge or Antioch will be included with any of the Murfreesboro schools.
