Williamson County has demographic traits that give it tremendous financial advantages over any other county in the state. Brentwood, Franklin and Germantown, for that matter, all have household incomes double the state average. The TSSAA should create a separate sub DI classification - R1 or Rich Schools. No doubt the parents of students at these schools have cheated on their 1040's and we have to segregate them in order to LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD. We don't want these rich schools with all their financial advantages playing our middle class students. Think of the terrible toll on the psyches of students who might lose to a rich school.

That would get you a call from the TSSAA, the opposing coach and the Nashville Tennessean. On the other hand (sounds like an economist, doesn't it?), what if a private school parent tells the parent of the public school athlete that the private school has the a wonderful learning environment, great teachers and coaches and if they can qualify academically and financially, there might be scholarship money available? Is that recruiting (not so far as the TSSAA is concerned) or pride in your school? Does the private school have advantages over the public? You betcha. Is it "unfair"? Don't think so because those advantages have a price which you can either pay or not.

You're probably correct about the outcome this time. There was an excellent analysis in the Chatt TFP but being a fan of copyright law (and the fact Coacht would have edited out) I didn't print it here. There seemed to be little sympathy according to TFP's reporter for BA's arguments. Based on some pointed questions, several justices were sceptical regarding BA's defense. It sounded like Roberts and Alito both were giving more weight to the fact that BA voluntarily joined the TSSAA and they should abide by its rules. That's probably a gross over simplification and has some inacuracies, but the long and short of the article was BA loses. Too bad.
