  1. Chapel Hill does have Kori Knight but you better get ready for Teri Slater. She plays the post and was the sub for Jones last year. She is only a soph. and has been part of the team since 8th grade. She is solid and will be a force on the block for Chapel Hill this year.

Is this the most boring offense in the state? There are good things about it, I guess, but it seems it is only good for the backs. The receivers and quarterbacks really do nothing, from what I have observed. How many state champs have run this offense?
  3. Well if you were a 4.5 then those guys are about a 4.7+ . I saw you play all fours years and I saw the games last Saturday and there is no comparison. You would smoke them. I guess everybody else on the field was so slow it just made them look fast.
  4. How fast were you apsugov7. I think you had good wheels and you played A ball.
  5. You don't play to win in the preseason by playing starters the whole time. You play to win, but you play to win with your j.v. players as well. You have to find out who you can count on in a real game situation not just practice and the preseason is a great time to take a chance and see who can play in a real game situation rather than taking a chance in the regular season. Example Moore Co. and Trousdale Co., I bet the jv team was in for Trousdale in the end and if you know football then you know MC didn't really have a chance to win that game.
  6. I know several schools came to watch Jamar play this season and I believe some came to his school to watch his workouts this spring. Stamps may be cheap but at least they spent that much and yes it is a big deal to anyone recieving a letter from any school so let's don't down play it to much.
  7. First of all who are you and where did your team end up this year? Wait I know your from Moore Co. and yall didn't go anywhere. End of disscussion about high school teams. Second you've only seen Jamar in situations where he plays on his high school team and not with teams that have better supporting casts. You have no idea of what you are talking about. He proved himself nationally last summer against the nations best and will continue to do so this summer. As for you keep working on your game and tell your dad and mom to save you a job at the distillary since you have no future in basketball. As for UTC, Jamar felt this was a great chance for him to play early in his career and potentially be a star there in the future. They have a great staff and head coach. Coach Lebo is one of the best coaches in college from a great program and he saw great potential in Jamar and that's all that needs to be said. Sorry to bust your redballon!
  8. Why this is even discussed I don't know. You all haven't even thought of the single A schools that have Jr. High games on Mondays and Thursdays.
  9. What if a team cuts it back down to say 30 or 25 or 20... Do you now start stopping the clock because it isn't a 40+ lead? Good luck ref's. clock keepers, coaches, players,...
  10. I TOTALLY agree btru23. Rigsby was a huge part of Eagleville's success and all those haters out there will now realize. Karper is good but not as good as people make her out to be. Cowley from Cascade may be the best guard in both District 11-a and 12-a. And Bowers is definitely the best point guard from Huntland with a great supporting class, in Dist. 11-a.
  11. 1. HUNTLAND 2. - 3. FORREST / CASCADE 4. CORNERSVILLE ( THAT'S RIGHT) 5. MOORE CO. 6. COMMUNITY 7. RICHLAND 8. CULLEOKA 9. EAGLEVILLE Sorry all you Eagleville fans, Karper or no Karper, she ain't enough. 4-7 could be a toss up, but Cornersville has potential to contend (good for them). 1-3 should be great battles but I feel the edge should go to Huntland after the upset from the district tourney, they should have something to prove. Cascade will be solid as long as they are heathly. Forrest will suprise people with their replacements and could go for the title. Just my opinion. [Edited by 0u812 on 4-17-03 8:13A]
  12. John Wooden once stated: "I believe ability can get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there. A big part of character is the self-discipline needed to avoid complacency, resist temptation, and understand that past success doesn't guarantee future success. It's so easy to relax, to cut corners, to let down after you've reached your goal, and begin thinking you can just turn it on automatically, without proper preparation. It takes real character to keep working hard or even harder once you're there. When you read about a team that wins over and over , remind yourself, more than ability, they have character." This is something we all could work on more!
  13. Does she play for the school or herself? To be honest she shouldn't care who the coach is if she is loyal to her school and teammates. Sounds to me if she doesn't get what she wants she will bail out on her teammates and only think of herself. What kind of message is this sending to the schools she might be interested in attending. I hope all of you that are posting on this board aren't starting something behind the scenes. As for the coaching, Coach Lynch is probably the front runner for the job having the most experience. He has coached basketball for 7 years starting at Chapel Hill with the other Coach McClaran and his high school boys, then went to Liberty and coached middle school boys, then to Eagleville where he coached middle school boys and assisted both high school boys and girls. But what do I know, I'm just an outsider looking in.

  15. Everybody has the will to win, but it is far more important to have the will to prepare to win. Bobby Knight This is a game that's going to be determined by your attitude. Bobby Knight
  16. What do you mean HAVE TO? Athletes may choose to, if they are good enough, to play all of those sports. To be honest any type of workout will benefit the athlete as long as he is devoted to improvement. In other words don't ever let there be a down time to get lazy. If you have athletes that play other sports, work the ones that are left over. Don't let them have time off. Set short term goals that they can achieve in the off season. It's not the hours you put in, it's what you put in the hours.
  17. "Talent is God given, be humble; Fame is man given, be thankful; Conceit is self given; be careful." John Wooden To see a man beaten not by a better opponent but by himself is a tragedy. Cus D'Amato If a man coaches himself, then he has only himself to blame when he is beaten. Roger Bannister Don't be afraid of opposition - a kite rises against the wind, not with it. Unknown
  18. This is all such a big shock. He is young and not married so is he just burnt out or is he quitting teaching as well?
  19. I agree Bart pitched a good game, however he may not be the best pitcher on the team. Freshman Mikie Minor is an unbelievable talent and is probably the best, just needs more innings before a big district game like last night. Bart knew what had to be done after Richland embarrassed us in front of our student body. Two good teams represented themselves well yesterday.
  20. Children have more need of models than critics. Joseph Joubert Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them. James Baldwin Make a kid feel stupid and he'll act stupider. John Holt Failure is the path of least persistence. Michael Larsen Publicity is like poison: it doesn't hurt unless you swallow it. Joe Paterno A flawed diamond is more valuable than a perfect brick. Unknown If what you did yesterday still looks big to you, you haven't done much today. Unknown Never judge a person's horespower by his exhaust. Unknown
  21. PART OF A COACHES JOB IS TO TEACH. THAT MEANS TEACH AVERAGE ATHLETES TO OVERACHIEVE OR TEACH GREAT ATHLETES TO PLAY TEAM BALL AND CONTROL THEIR ATTITUDES. MOST PUBLIC SCHOOL COACHES HAVE TO BE FLEXIBLE BECAUSE THEY HAVE SPURTS OF GREAT TALENT. PART OF COACHING IN HIGH SCHOOL IS YOU MIGHT HAVE TO CHANGE PHILOSOPHY EACH YEAR, WHEREAS IN COLLEGE YOU RECRUIT TO YOUR STYLE. DO WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE, BOTTOMLINE!
  22. Do you really think that today's coaches are less demanding than the past with having to keep your kids in playing shape all year? I think not. Today's coaches and players are more skilled and knowledgeable of the game because of the past. Apples and Oranges!
