Beech won the game 3 - 1 over Mt. Juliet. Both pitchers looked good, however it was very cold and not a good day for hitting. Several players were reacting to balls they hit off their bats as it was stinging their hands. Two good teams that will battle again the next time they play I'm sure.

I would like to congratulate coach Richard Roche from Hunters Lane for making the state tournament. I know first hand that he is a class act and could not be more deserving of this in his last year as the coach for Hunters Lane (or that's at least what the rumors are.) Also congrats to the girls who made this possible for themselves and coach Roche. Best of Luck this week. Play hard, play smart, and there is no reason why you guys can't win it all.

Rossview definitely did what they needed to do in this game. Both teams had several chances to win the game, however hats off to Rossview for the victory. It was a good win for them but I would look for a similar situation with Dickson, Rossview, Beech, Hendersonville, Wilson Central, Mt. Juliet, and LaVergne all returning near all their players next year. It will once again be an exciting Region 5AAA to watch.

Who will win this thing? Here are the matchups: Rossview will travel to Beech while Hendersonville will travel to Dickson County. Looking at the 4 teams schedules for this season I would have to say that Hendersonville and Beech played tougher competition than their opponents; however Dickson Co. is the defending 3AAA state champion and I have heard that Rossview (for a fairly new program) is very good. What does everyone think??? Please post before 4 pm. on Monday as the games must begin!!!

What happened with the games on Wednesday? I know that Rossview and Dickson were scheduled to play in the finals of the winners bracket with Henry Co. and Northeast scheduled to play in the finals of the losers bracket. Who won and lost to set up the final so Dickson Co. could win the title?

For Friday May 9th: LaVergne will play Hendersonville in the finals of the losers bracketon field #2 or #4; Beech will play Wilson Central in the finals of the winners bracket on field #5. Both games will go off at 3:00. Then at 5:00, the winner of the top game will play the loser of the bottom game. The championship and the "if" game will be played on Saturday with the time T.B.A. All games are still at Drakes Creek Park where the preferred method of travel is the john boat with a trolling motor . Mt. Juliet, White House, Smyrna, and Gallatin have all been eliminated.

The tourney looks like this: Everything was rained out on Monday 5-5-03. Tuesday Hendersonville will travel to and play Mt. Juliet. The winner will play Beech Wednesday, the loser is done for the year. In the other half of the bracket, White House will travel to Wilson Central, and Gallatin will travel to LaVergne. The losers are done, and the winners will play each other on Wednesday. The final four is double elimination and all final four games will be held at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville. I think I have it right.

In response to Yep, I do not coach at Beech, I am just merely an avid softball fine as I am sure you are. To WesternKy I did not intend to have you think the game did not matter to the coaches or players, I was merely stating that it did not matter for seeding purposes. The way the tournament is set up with double elimination in the final 4, it almost assures that the best team is going to win whoever it may be. Good luck to all the participants.

I understand that Beech downed Mt. Juliet 6-4 today in a game that featured over 20 hits and several errors. I was not able to be at the game, but I heard that the Bucs had timely hits when it counted late in the game to put away the Bears. Mt. Juliet is a tough team and have played well lately so this was a good win for Beech because Mt. Juliet always seems to give them fits. The 9AAA tournament next week should be very interesting because Mt. Juliet, Hendersonville, Wilson Central, and LaVergne are all still playing for 2nd seed. Who do you think will prevail? I think Beech 1st and Mt.Juliet 2nd.

To jamq1: Bad sportsmanship is when the Head Coach at Lebanon plays his J.V. against a team like Beech. Why would he do such a thing, to humiliate his girls. I am sure Beech has no idea they were playing a J.V. team since they do not schedule each other during the year and since this was a varsity tournament. I have seen Beech play over the years and I can tell you they are not bad sports. They sometimes get this reputation because they have contiunally had great seasons and teams over the last 7 years, aka "The regime of Kristi Brinkley". As the old saying goes "It is lonely at the top", and if I know Coach Brinkley and Beech they like it lonely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beech is sitting at 10 - 1 in the district with 3 left. Hendersonville which they defeated already 6-0, Wilson Central which they have defeated twice 9-0, and 9-1, and Mt. Juliet who defeated Beech 2-1 in 8 innings. If you have seen the Buccaneers play lately, they are swinging the bats as well as they have as a "TEAM" all season. If someone is down, somebody else will pick up the slack. Beech will be #1 seed unless something crazy happens. Second is up for grabs though between Mt. Juliet, Wilson Central, HHS, and LaVergne. Regardless of the season outcome, the 9AAA tourney should be a fun one to watch. Good luck to everybody.

Coffee County in Tennessee but if you ever get a chance to go play v.s. Hoover, Alabama it is 2nd to none I have ever seen in the country period. Their practice facility is as nice as Coffee County's game field and it is just for practice only!!!!!! Does anybody agree or what???

With basicly only 2 weeks left before tournament time I thought we should post by class who will be at the Spring Fling in Memphis based on what you have seen thus far? Let's start the controversy: A - Goodpasture, Ezell, Boyd Buchanan, Whitwell AA - Lipscomb, Hume-Fogg, Gibbs AAA - Beech, Dickson Co., Maryville, Cumberland Co., Soddy Daisy, Coffee Co. D II - ???

Beech has 2 junior pitchers and a sophomore pitcher who was 1st team all-state last year and all ERA's are under 0.33 With the competition they play year in and year out this is remarkable. Their #3 would start for most teams. I will have to admit the Cumberland County is very deep also and it would be awesome to see you guys in the state. Best single pitcher so far is Megan Rhodes at Lipscomb, she is incredible. Not far behind is Dani P. from Goodpasture. Best staff in a long tournament though has to go to Beech, with Cumberland #2.

Beech will now play Hendersonville on Tuesday 4-22-03. Beech will now play Wilson Central on Thursday 5-1-03. Both games will be played at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville. Beech's next games will be on 4-18 & 4-19 in the Soddy Daisy Tournament.

Beech will play Hendersonville at 3:30 and Wilson Central at 5:00 on Thursday 4-10-03 weather permitting. This doubleheader will makeup the district games lost today and earlier this season. Both games will be at Drakes Creek Park. Beech will be the visitor in the first game and the home team in the second game.

Yes you are right they did put Beech out of their play day and lost to them at the HHS Tourney, but you obviously did not realize that at that time Beech had 3 starters in the Championship Game of the TSSAA girls basketball championship against Shelbyville. That would be CF and #2 hitter Allie Smith, SS and #5 hitter Amber Warren and argueably the best 3B around defensively in Brittany Barry. I will give credit to Amber Steen, she is very good along with their SS and the tall LF. They just need to play better tournaments like Soddy-Daisy and Coffee Co. since they are in such a horrible district. Best of luck to them the rest of the way, but if they face the Buccaneers of Beech in the Sub-State I wouldn't waste your money betting on Hunters Lane!!

Beech v.s. Davidson Academy was cancelled so that Beech could makeup their District 9AAA game at LaVergne which got rained out yesterday. Beech won 5-1. The DA game has not been rescheduled as of yet.

I would be on a roll too if I played the schedule that Hunters Lane does. I have seen them play and they are okay, but match them up against the likes of Coffee Co., Cumberland Co., Soddy Daisy, Goodpasture, Ezell-Harding, Beech, Lipscomb and they are just another victim on these teams schedule. Being on a roll is relative to the competition you are playing. They will probably win their district but let's see what happens after that.

Mt. Juliet has a good pitcher and 3rd baseman, other than that do you really think they can compete with Coffee Co., Soddy Daisy, Beech, Maryville, Brentwood, Etc. Sure they may win one or two now and then but let's see what happens in a few weeks.

Why are you people arguing about the errors. Anyone who was there knows what happened. Mt. Juliet played about the best they can and Beech was flat with the bats. This type of stuff happens during the course of a 40-50 game season. All I am saying is let's talk in about a month and see who is doing what. You know what I mean?

Whoopee!! The Lady Bears are a mediocre team that has happened to get a couple of lucky upset wins here lately. Keep your eyes open and see where they will be in the post season. SOS

Beech was named Co-Champions in the Knoxville Gibbs Tournament along with Maryville as rain cancelled the championship game with Beech batting in the bottom of the 1st inning with a 1 - 0 lead. Beech did lose their first pool game to East Ridge 0 - 1, but on Saturday after pool play was cancelled, the tournament went to 60 minute time limit single elimination games due to the weather. Beech got to the championship with wins over North Davidson, North Carolina 2 - 0, Cave Springs, Virginia 6 - 1, and Morristown West 9 - 3. Great weekend for the Buccaneers whose record now stands at 18 - 2. Coffee County and East Ridge are the only setbacks thus far. Both games were 0 - 1 and the Coffee County game went extra innings.

I believe I have heard that the game will be made up on April 10th.

Beech didn't get the timely hit they needed to score a run versus East Ridge. Runners on 3rd and 2nd twice in the game with only one out. However, Beech did have a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st versus Maryville in the Championship game on Saturday night when rain cancelled the event. Both teams were named Co-Champions. Even good teams lose games every now and then but never count out the Buccaneers in a full 7 inning game. Too many weapons.
