Walker Valley won 6-5. Derek Evanyk gets the win & game winning RBI in the
bottom of the 6th. Hixson led 5-2 going into the bottom of the 6th & the Mustangs
scored 4 with the possible 5th run throwed out at the plate.
Paul, Josh & the rest of the team - Good Luck from a couple of friends from
Walker Valley High - missed playing against you guys this year - Hope you
can bring back the big one - Bobby & Pat
I believe when Grundy beats Alcoa & Milan wins thier first game, the matchup between Grundy & Milan in the second round will determine the state champion.
Whichever of these two teams stays in the winners bracket will win the state.
Go get 'em Grundy!
Thanks to the many dedicated people of Walker Valley baseball that have given their time, money, sweat & heart to this program the last three years. To have the
opportunity to be associated with a group of individuals who have made this program such a success has been a real joy for me. Memphis was our goal & we fell short; we can make all the excuses we want to, blame it on many different things, but the bottom line is we had a great year at 39-4. If my math is correct,
the Mustangs have won over a 100 games in their 3 years of existence as a AA
school. That figure is why I am proud to have been a part of such a great program.
I've been associated with baseball for about 40 years now & have never seen an
individual who puts more time & effort into baseball than Coach Mike Turner. He
sets the example to his players that to be successful it takes hard work & I thank
him for his efforts. As my son moves on to college, I'm sure he'll take with him
many things because of his association with Walker Valley athletics. May the success continue for many more years.

We're sorry Behind The Plate, we didn't realize our tooting our horn would be missed by ya'll so much. Instead of tooting the Mustang horn, I would like to say congratulations to Grundy Co. for their victory over us on Wednesday. They played a great game & were deserving of their win. We wish them good luck Friday against Greenbrier & hope they represent Region 3 with the class they showed us.
Out of the top ten teams in the latest poll from May 7th, all ten teams advance to region tournaments in their respective regions. Seven of the top ten won districts & three were runner-ups. The #1,2,3,6,8,9 & 10 won their districts & #4,5 & 7 finished second.
The Meigs Co. Tigers brought the lumber with them to Turner Field today jumping out to a 10-2 lead before the Mustangs got rollin. It took 8 innings, but the Mustangs pulled out the 11-10 win. Hats off to Coach Baker's bunch for putting up quite a battle & good luck against Grundy on Monday. Mustangs host the Hixson
Wildcats at 5:30 Monday. Good job Mustangs, you could have throwed in the towel but you guys kept battling & never gave up.
