  1. B'man, Just what are your qualifications to post to this thread about Baylor? Own a can of spray paint?
  2. For someone who will graduate from high school or college in 2009, your perspective is extremely limited. I played against John Hannah. I saw Riggs in a couple of games. The question calls for a high degree of subjecitivity with no limitation stated as to whether they were referring to high school, college or the pros.
  3. I'm sorry! I had no idea that this thread was reserved. Just for future reference, is there some kind of qualification for participating on threads about Baylor? Do you have to be able to print a large "B" with spray paint or be able to chant "BAYLOR, BAYLOR" while watching your team lose yet another game to McCallie?
  4. And that's why you never heard John Ward say "It's academic time in Tennessee!"
  5. Bill Spears of Spears Stadium fame. McCallie I'll let Grantland Rice make my case: Grantland Rice once said that Vanderbilt quarterback Bill Spears (1925-27) was the fastest and one of the most remarkable quarterbacks he’d ever seen. In 1926, the junior led the Commodores to an 8-0-1 record. An All-America senior year resulted in an 8-1-2 season. Coach Dan McGugin said about Spears, “Spears was a classic example of the results a boy can gain if he works hard enough and has a fighting heart. Bill was as skillful as any man who ever played football. Spears became an attorney in Chattanooga and served as a Trustee at Vanderbilt. He died in 1992 and was inducted in the College Hall of Fame in 1962.
  6. Without Cooper, Baylor will make a nice homecoming invitee.
  7. Congratulations to Riverdale. Where are the stats?
  8. I'm just jealous that Baylor can get so many public schools to schedule games. Wonder why that's the case?
  9. On really good authority - Since Donald reportedly has an IQ above room temperature, he's been declared over qualified academically to play for the Big Orange. Also, he couldn't provide a rap sheet which is also a negative for playing for Fulmer. If he commits to UT, he'll have to redshirt in order beef up his misdemeanor and felony experience. Just kidding about the redshirt stuff!
  10. Johnny Newman, currently a running back, has played QB when Coleman has been taken out. Johnny is much more in the Ryan Moore/Penn Garvich mold. He's about the same size as BJ, maybe faster. Back to the option with occasional pass. BJ's "little brother" is the QB of the 8th grade team - one loss to MBA.
  11. Read Moneyball, Liars Poker and The New New Thing. Lewis is very talented no matter what the subject.
  12. Avoiding McCallie won't keep more athletes at Ooltewah but $17K a year in tuition will. Crow is going to be on Primetime Owl's diet.
  13. I noticed that for 6 long years!
  14. If comparative stats mean anything and the way they played against McCallie, R'dale by two TD's.
  15. Thanks. Another 45 minutes down the drain!
  16. If they could only redeem themselves against a good local 5A team (hint hint) whose principal wasn't an _______________.
  17. If Potter didn't emphasize gang tackling and kept up with this stat you'd see a couple of Tornadoes on the list.
  18. I very much appreciate the fact the Wayne Turner schedules McCallie every year. Wish some of the other good local teams would do the same (hint, hint).
  19. Probably one of those infamous "Ryan Haters" - kind of like "Yankee Haters" and "Ohio State Haters". All that recent dominance breeds contempt.
  20. I, like most folks on this board don't think enough about FR to "hate" them. I generally reserve hate for Osama bin Laden, the nut that runs Iran, Nancy Pelosi. or the ###### who shot my pointer. FR is in the category of: I hope my team beats them but I'm fairly ambivalent when they're playing someone else. As far as beating Baylor, I doubt it.
  21. I've seen Baylor BA and McCallie. If FR doesn't keep it close against Baylor and Massey and Cooper has a big game, by the second half, when Cooper's legs go, it'll be too late. If FR's defensive backfield not one of the better ones in the state, Coleman and his recievers will score at will. They also have some of the better running backs in the city to take pressure off the passing game. BA has a very good quarterback and big fast running backs along with their usual industrial size line. In short Big 3 - 3 FR - 0
  22. Thanks to the powers that be at Ooltewah, this statement can never be proven one way or the other but is always guaranteed to get a response. Columbia High School was the number one ranked AA school. Based upon Columbia's team, AA ball in SC isn't very competitive. The line was massively fat. The running backs were moderately large and of average speed.
  23. Your question ought to be used in a referee course to demostrate the subjectivity of reffing. Should also be used to demostrate to parents that reffing is a very subjective activity.
  24. I suppose an alternative would be to impose contact rules like they have for girls' lacrosse. Each player is enclosed in a hermatically sealed rules envelope. Play is stopped every nanosecond when a defensive player gets within the other player's zip code. It's really really exciting! I understand they're considering replacing the hard lacrosse sticks with rubber. Another great Title 9 opportunity for mediocre athletes to get college scholarhships. Sorry I digress.
