  1. Just another brutal non region game for Tyner. Tyner's defense has not been playing well up to this point giving up around 37 points a game. I don't think it will be a blowout, I think Tyner could actually win; but they are going to have to limit turnovers and get off to a good start in the first quarter. McCallie is the better team, the Rams are going to have to limit McCallie's possessions.
  2. Going with the Owls in this matchup; their defense will get them the victory.
  3. Looks like rain up to and a little past game time...hopefully it moves out early...
  4. Here is the writeup from the paper.... Ooltewah Owls at Tyner Rams Tonight, 7:30 Last meeting: Ooltewah won 37-18 in the 1994 season opener. Why you should go: Traditionally two of the best collections of athletes in the city. With this much speed on both sides, long runs and big hits are certain. Players to watch: Any local list of players to watch begins with Ooltewah defensive end Jacques Smith, a University of Tennessee commitment. Fellow defensive lineman Brandon Burrell is ready for a breakout season. Owls quarterback Brady Reed is a three-year starter and seems to have a better grasp of the offense, as well as plenty of talented receivers including Darren Delaney. Tyner junior defensive back Travis Jones is already a top college prospect. Key question: Sustained drives against Ooltewah's defense, which returns six starters, aren't likely. Can the Rams hit enough big plays to match the Owls' quick-score offense?
  5. I am very interested in seeing how much Tyner runs in his direction tonight...
  6. You couldnt pay me to eat one of those NASTY fish sandwich s from a concession stand with all those RAM germs!!!!!!!! lol Dont go buy one with your Ooltewah stuff on they might give you one from the TN River.......... Don't disrespect the fish sandwich...it is part of the Bob Evans Field experience... don't be afraid to try one. What time is gametime... How many kids do the Owls have on the team this year? How do the classes break down?
  7. Tyner will usually have a 2 or 3 back set...run variations off of it all night and play man to man defense. I think the key to Tyner playing well will be not giving up the big passing plays. They must get pressure on the Owls QB...Tyner was very tough against the run last year...I don't expect that to change. Key players for Tyner will be anyone with a jersey on the backfield, and the 4 guys used to block the Smith kid.... and there is NO WAY that Reed is the best QB in the state... I am not sure of the outcome of this game...first game for both teams tend to show weaknesses...I would have the Owls favored slightly at this point....
  8. Next Friday, 07/31/09, @ Tyner, approx. 5:30pm(ET)......Tyner, Coffee County, McMinn County and Signal Mountain Eagles
  9. ...Next Friday, 07/31/09, @ Tyner, approx. 5:30pm(ET)...four(4) team scrimmage...Coffee County, McMinn County and TBA...should be a good workout. Thanks for the update...been getting over there later in the evening after everyone has left.
  10. Tyner does not "sleep" against Howard...the Rams have showed up to play the past 4 years. 28-19, 26-22, 33-8, 38-13
  11. Glad to see it's about that time of year again...I might be able to find out the schedule for August also, I will see if I can get it tonight. I run over at the track in the evenings, Coach T and a few others are usually over there.
  12. Good luck to the Pirates on their way to another throphy... hope both teams stay injury free.
  13. Good luck to Boyd in this one. I know Boyd is better than they played on Friday night, but if they plan on getting past this game, Mr. Hughes better step and play. I thought he was very timid and was thrown off of his game early. Anyway good luck to the Bucs, hope both teams stay injury free.
  14. It was a very good game...Boyd played sloppy, Tyner played a little less sloppy. I thought Tyner dominated on the line and Boyd had a few big plays when they needed them. I thought the refs had 2 really bad calls that took 2 touchdowns off the scoreboard for Tyner. The second one was a fumble returned for a TD that would have made it 26 - 11 with 5 minutes to go. Regardless I will take a win anytime I can get it when you go into the swamp. Congrats to Boyd, Marion, and Tyner for the 3 way region championship, although Boyd get the title of region champions for not losing to Marion I guess.... Good luck to the entire region next week in the playoffs...
  15. Those rings were very nice and shiny!!!
