  1. Congratulations to AC for a hard fought win. Anytime these two teams go against each other it is usually a slobberknocker. AC defense played well holding Clinton to 20 something yards and rushed for over 200 on offense. Zeke Rogers finally had a break out game rushing for over a hundred yards, with one long TD called back. Chad Coleman ran hard and also had a TD called back. Clinton played hard and looked improved, good luck to them the rest of the way.
  2. I think if given some time Tony Shultz will get things going in the right direction. With it being his first year and the commotion with the new school in the county, things may be a little unsettled this year. I know Tony personally and I think if he has the right support from the administration, his staff, fans and players he will be successful. I'm pulling for him and the Jets.
  3. I'm sorry I thought they won their second game.
  4. Not a fan of either team, but someone who has kept up with the misfortunes of the Cougars. So I appreciate your humor. But after watching them on a local cable channel in their first game, I think they have a chance at "another" good season. They look like they might be competitive, like they were year before last.
  5. I think the Cougars are gonna get 3 in a row. Campbell Co. 21 Jeff. Co 7
  6. My point was and is that AC played with alot of intensity and showed some nastiness on defense in both the Farragut and OR outings. On offense they moved the sticks by running the ball right at both defenses. I think anytime you put the pads on, a good team tries to win, whether it's a quarter or just a scrimmage. AC is a team that lives and dies by their level of intensity. Athlete-wise they don't have the same kids that Fulton has, they have to make up for that by playing AC football, which is intense, hard-hitting football on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
  7. I wanna see the team that smacked OR and Farragut in the mouth. That's the way AC wins games.
  8. Clinton obviously is getting better, they only got beat by 28 points by OR. That means that Maryville, will only win by 42 points.
  9. You deserve a pay raise for being so insightful. It looked like both teams were trying to give the game away with Greeneville making the less costly mistakes. AC is better than what they showed last night and I believe they will do what it takes to get better. First time Greeneville has beaten AC in six tries. Congrats to them.
  10. Webb has had Powell's number, but I think this game is too important for Powell to mess up. Webb was awfully good last year, don't think they can make it three in a row. Powell 24-Webb21
  11. Good luck to Coach Courtney and his team.
  12. I watched the Cougars on cable against Lenoir City, and I was impressed with the talent they have. I predict a banner year for the Cougars, I believe they will go 5 and 5.
  13. Did they rehire former head coach fitzgerald?
  14. Don't sell Stanton Stevens short. From what I saw at the jamboree he has enough talent and I know he has enough smarts to get things done. As far as the Clinton game, OR simply has too much talent for Clinton to defend. I think that Shattuck and his new coaches have made some progress, but I don't think they have made enough to change Friday night's outcome. OR will win big. As far as how OR will do in their region, they have some tough teams to play and I think they need to get better or they will take a few on the chin.
  15. I agree. AC is nasty and will hit you, but what else is new? AC has always had the rep for being hard nosed. The last couple of years they have struggled somewhat(starting freshmen and sophomores), but they may be at the point where they are ready to compete with and beat the big boys in their region again. I like what I see.
  16. AC needs to play them one at a time, not get overconfident. Greeneville has a good sophomore quarterback. AC got a taste of him last year in the second half, and Greeneville was a different team with him in the game. I think AC is a better team right now, than they were at this time last year. Question is, is Greeneville? I gotta go with the Mavs.
  17. A mixture, most of the skill is young (sophs), Some key players on defensive front are Seniors.
  18. What about Clinton? I think they made some improvements. The quarterback and running backs looked good. They still looked terrible on defense, need to get some speed in the secondary.
  19. Anderson County has the potential to get in the playoffs this year. I look for them to give AE, Fulton and Catholic great games. I think if they win one of these and win the rest, which I think is highly likely, they'll be in.
  20. I thought Anderson County looked the best.
  21. Anderson County played toe to toe with Oak Ridge last night. Score was 7to7 after one quarter in the Anderson County Jamboree. AC pounded the ball down the field on their opening possesion and scored on a Longmire to Phillips pass. Looks like smash mouth football is back. OR answered with a deep ball to tie the score. A week ago AC gave Farragut all they wanted in a storm shortened scrimmage, by running right at them. I know they have yet to play a full game, but I think they are going to hit some people in the mouth. Buckle up region 2-3A, AC is coming back.
  22. Don't know about the swiss cheese defense, but Clinton will have trouble with OakRidge's speed on the perimeter (deep ball). Union County was able to connect on a few deep passes and OR's only score against AC was on a deep ball, and AC has more speed in the secondary than Clinton looks to have. If Clinton can get Acres and Hester some running room and hold onto the ball for a while, it might be closer than anyone thinks. But in the end OR has too much for Clinton.
  23. It may turn out that the next few years will be good for Clinton, but it's not a lock. Good Middle School teams don't necessarily mean a good high school team. Remember who Clinton Middle competes against. They don't play these same kids in high school and when they play Jefferson and Robertsville, they are combined at ORHS. Jacksboro, Avery Trace. Clinton can play with Campbell County and Cumberland County now. Their program doesn't have to improve to beat those teams. Just don't put too much pressure on Clinton's coaching staff, just because the Middle school wins "state championahips".
  24. How did Clinton do against Greeneville?
  25. Up until the FCA camp at Tenn Tech, I thought Fulton would win hands down. but Coach Graham has got his team looking pretty good. Troutman looked sharp and AE has plenty of the usual speed and they looked like they were all on the same page. Question is can they match Fulton up front? If they can, I like AE in an early season matchup. Fulton seems to struggle early, while peaking out in time to make their annual playoff run for the state championship. Either way, Both teams will make the playoffs, along with Catholic and AC.
