  1. Hawk- Ben Horton played for Grace, Ben Wharton played for CCS. Two very different players. Horton at Grace was a lot better than Wharton at CCS. And yes, Horton was a whole lot better than anyone in the region now, save for maybe Caleb Skogen and Nick Van Horn, who is now in NY.
  2. Haha, I enjoy seeing these high school kids pumping themselves up on these boards. Parshall and Eldridge are on here talking like they are some superstars. Grace has already lost their best player this season in Nick van Horn, and had a kid a few years ago by the name of Ben Horton that is better than them all. He averaged about 20 a game against much better competition (Temple with Jake Skogen and Ryan Wadley, CCS with Cook and Wharton, Boyd with Will Healy, Valley with Chris Graham, etc.) and still put up 20 a night with no one else on the team that could even score. He pretty much carried them to the Region semis by himself. The region gets weaker every year......
  3. I assume no one knows anything about this? Is it not true then?
  4. I have heard that Grace Baptist's Nick van Horn is moving to New York? Is this true?
  5. I saw in the schedule section where Grace beat NCS 72-49 Friday night? Is that true? Anyone out there have details at all?
  6. Has the Chattanooga paper released its All-City Team yet? If so, can anyone tell me who was on it or provide a link for me to view?
  7. No, he is still at Booker T. Washington in Memphis. Classic case of a kid who gets a lot of hype early, then never works to get better and also doesn't grow any taller.
  8. The only thing you need to know about Grace: Great offensive team, horrible defensive team.
  9. Hey, we are talking abouyt Grace Baptist Academy out of Chattanooga on this thread. The team that got blown away by Cosby was Grace Academy from around Knoxville. Grace from Knoxville is not even in the TSSAA, whoever entered Cosby's schedule mistakenly put in their opponent as Grace Baptist. Hope this clears up the confusion for you guys.
  10. Size of Grace's starters: PG- Nick Van Horn- 6'2" SG-Jeffrey Smith- 6'1" SF- Davis Eldridge- 6'2" PF-Johnny Parshall- 6'4" C-Nic Parsons- 6'6"
  11. "Shutting down a Mr. Basketball Candidate." If holding him to 27 pr 28 points is shutting him down, then Temple is nowhere as near as good a defensive team than they have been in the past.
  12. Looks like it will be an interesting tournament at Tennessee Temple University this week. Who should win? Grace has a nice bracket, and should be able to get to the title game. As for the other side of the bracket, Temple and CCS will be a great game, especially since it will be on a home court for Temple. Should be FUN!
  13. Nick van Horn of Grace was MVP. Both Skogens fouled out in OT. Here is the write-up courtesy of the Chattanoogan: "Davis Eldridge hit four clutch free throws in the final seconds of overtime as Grace won the District 5-1 boys championship in a thriller over Tennessee Temple 65-61 on Friday night. The game, played at a packed Vance Gymnasium at Temple, was tied at 49 at the end of regulation. Then Temple lost two of their top players to fouls early in the overtime period. Eldridge was held scoreless in the first half, but contributed 16 the rest of the way to go with 22 by Nick Vanhorn. Caleb Skogen scored 17 for Temple before fouling out. Sean Wadley also went out with fouls for the Crusaders. The game was nip and tuck and two Vanhorn free throws put Grace up 49-48 as time wound down in regulation. Then Caleb Skogen went to the line and hit the first one, but missed the bonus, to tie it at 49. Grace played for the last shot and Eldridge had an open look, but it went off the front of the rim. The game was tie at 54, then Grace went on a spurt. Grace was up 59-54 when Caleb Skogen was called on a charge and had to sit down. Freshman Dee Newson hit a long three to give Temple hope, then Eldridge nailed four straight free throws and also hit a pullup jumper after getting free following a long pass."
  14. I don't think it is a down year if Grace is third best in the region. They are a solid team this year. They beat McCallie, who swept Temple. I wouldn't be surprised of they pull out a win over CCS in a couple weeks at the end of the season. They are legit this year.
  15. Well, it was a great game. Temple won 61-56 in OT. Caleb Skogen had a great game for Temple, and Nick Van Horn kept Grace in it.
  16. Wrong Grace team..this is Grace Baptist out of Chattanooga.
  17. Any thoughts on who will win? I think I will take Temple by five. Both teams are very young and very talented.
  18. Not a chance they win a state title. They won't even get by Bradley Central in their own region.
  19. Grace Academy has not played Cosby. They have lost to Notre Dame from Chattanooga, and Brevard and Orangewood from Florida. Cosby is not on their schedule, I think it is a mistake on CoachT. Just letting you know.
  20. I agree with the rankings, especially Grace Academy. They had a good run to end the season last year, and are loaded with talented players this season. Look for big things this season from the Golden Eagles!!!
  21. Grace played CSAS tonight. Anyone have a score?
  22. I think Grace Academy will most definitely be a top 10 team in a couple weeks. They probably should be there now!
