  1. I am sorry but something has to be said about the coaching staffs at these 2 organizations. I know the history of both schools every well, however for any coach/coaching staff to think it is appropriate to score 91 points on an opposing team has absolutely no class. This also includes the administrations that support these actions. I personally have lost all respect for any accomplishments that take place this year for these schools if a public apology is not issued. I know that there is do distinct line in a margin of victory, however somewhere after 60 points you have to think that you have done enough. In both these cases it seems that the coaching staffs thought another 7 touchdowns were necessary. Personally I really feel sorry for anyone that has to feel this way because I know they lost more in the way of respect than they ever gained by winning. Brandon B.
  2. Goodpasture wins because of depth, coaching, and the fact that Tyner does not have a great passing game. Tyner has the athletes, but from seeing them this year they have been able to win on their athletic ability. Given that Goodpasture’s defensive strength is stopping the run I like them. I think it will be a great game, but the last 2 times Goodpasture and Tyner played Goodpasture was able to wear Tyner down and win in the 4th quarter. I like to fact that Goodpasture always gets stronger during the year and in the playoffs. It will be a great game either way.
  3. Who ever posted this really is out of touch with 2A football. Lipscomb is good, however they are defiantly not extremely better than the other top 2 or 3 teams. Goodpasture is playing great football and really has improved. I do think whoever comes out of the east will win the Clinic bowl (sorry Milan, just my opinion), however it is not a guarantee Lipscomb will be the one. I do think that it will come down to the Lipscomb/ (Tyner or Goodpasture) winner next week. This is greatest thing about High School Football kids can just not show-up, so I would suggest not counting your chickens before they hatch. Being at the first Goodpasture/Lipscomb game I think a rematch would be great, but we will see this week if that will come about. And for your information I do think that Goodpasture will win the rematch if it comes about, however one step at a time.
  4. Houston Co. has turned out to be a pretty good team. I do think that the game will be closer than most people think. Lipscomb weakest link on defense is the pass and that is Houston Co’s strength. I think Lipscomb will ultimately win because of depth and overall size, however I expect a closer game than most people think. The only way I see that Lipscomb could lose this game is if they look past Houston Co. If Houston Co is able to keep it close they might be able to pull off the upset.
  5. After seeing Alcoa play for the last 5-6 years I would defiantly not put it past there administration. I was hoping the new coach that came in would have cleaned this up, but it sounds like the administration has kept the same mindset. I have to say that Alcoa has continued to show the least sportsmanship of any team I have seen in 2A. The fans I have met for the most part have been great and really are nice, but the administration continues to fail in this area. I do not know if this is true or not, but just from my experience with the school and administration I cannot say for sure that it would not be. It really is sad when an administration of an organization acts like this. No wonder the kids act like they do on the field because they would have this kind of role model to follow.
  6. After trying to be an official in Middle Tennessee I can say this. The officials are nothing, but a lot of good ol boys. They really do not make it easy to become a new official and because of this they have the same officials. The biggest problem I see with the officials is the officials being out of positions when making a call. Every official will miss a call, but I have seen numerous times officials being to old to keep up and the result is they are 10 to 15 yards behind the play and end up missing the call. At an Ezell game this year the side judge I know was in his late 60's. On every deep pass play he was 10 to 15 yards out of position. I really think that all officials should go through some sort of physical fitness test to ensure that they can do the job adequately. You are right this is the largest area of failure that the TSSAA has. The only way you are guaranteed good officials is have a game on TV or get deep in the playoffs so only the best officials are left.
  7. I really do not think that there is an advantage. The only real advantage in any league is the noise and generally there is never a noise factor in high school. The only advantage that I could think of is an inexperience team traveling from more than a couple of hours. You can see this in the payoffs, because generally that is the only time schools travel that distance.
  8. The last thing Ezell should do is to take it easy. I can promise you one thing that from watching Goodpasture they will hit and hit hard. If Ezell is at the very least skeptical going in it will show and that is where you will get players hurt. As far as who has more to loose I would say Goodpasture does because they are in the higher classification. I think it is going to be a great game. When I say the schedules come out I would say that Ezell and Goodpasture has 2 big games both with each other and Lipscomb.
  9. Thanks for the update . Brandon
