  4. Going into the season I had this..... 1. Coalfield 2. Wartburg 3. Harriman 4. Oakdale 5. Oneida 6. Rockwood 7. Sunbight 8. Oliver Springs 9. Midway But I have seen a few scores that may have me thinking things a little different. Such as.... Could Oakdale and Oneida climb higher, could Harriman struggle a little bit after losing so many from last year, is wartburg to high, etc I think the top 5 can make some noise come Feb.
  5. Oliver Springs at Oneida scheduled for tomorrow will be rescheduled for Mon Feb 13.
  6. 2010 OS beat Jellico....... Title Games: 2007 Wb vs OS- OS won 2008 WB vs SUN- WB won 2009 satellite games that year. WB vs OS at OS- OS won 2010 Jellico vs OS- OS Won 2011 Jellico vs WB- Jellico won 2012 WB vs Oneida- WB won 2013 WB vs SUN- Sun won 2014 WB vs COAL- Coal won 2015 COAL vs Oak- game got snowed out and OAK was given title by default by being 1 seed 2016 WB vs Oak- Oak won
  7. So Coalfield hosts Sunbright to kick off the district 4-a games this friday. Then a few start the next week in Wartburg at Oneida (dec 6), Sunbright at Wartburg (dec 9), Coalfield at Jellico (dec 9), Oakdale at Oneida (dec 9). Who gets out to an early district lead? Also, any surprises so far after the first two weeks of action (non district games)? Coalfield 1-3 Jellico 2-4 Oakdale 1-5 Oliver Springs 3-2 Oneida 1-2 Sunbright 0-6 Wartburg 1-2
  8. Oliver Springs is hosting a play day on Nov 12th, 2016. 2 games for $75. Can possibly request just 1 game or 3 games if schedule allows. Email adingram@roaneschools.com for more info.
  9. Actually... OS beat Jellico in 2010 OS won it over Wartburg in 2009 (@OS) Wartburg beat OS in 2006 and that game was at Wartburg.
  10. District 4a 1st Rd matchups for Thurs. Who you got? 6. Oneida at 3. Coalfield 5. Jellico at 4. Oliver Springs 7. Sunbright at 2. Wartburg 1. Oakdale has bye
  11. We are about the wrap up the regular season, so changing the pace a little bit, who do you think is the MVP of each district and top players (all district team)?
  12. District 4 games this week (correct me if I am wrong) Mon - Sunbright at Oliver Springs Tue - Oakdale at Wartburg Sunbright at Coalfield Thu - Oakdale at Jellico Fri - Coalfield at Oliver Springs Oakdale at Oneida Sunbright at Wartburg
  13. Sunbright at Oliver Springs is moved to Monday Jan 25.
  14. OS played McMinn Central in December and lost by 3. OS led most of the 2nd half, but the 3 ball was going in for Central to steal it away. The game winner was a 3!! Harriman at Wartburg will be a high scoring game, that is for sure. The first one to 90 wins!! Another game tonight that will be huge for district 4a will be Coalfield at Oakdale. Oakdale has looked unbeatable in the district (even though their non-district record has taken some hits) but Coalfield has been playing and shooting well as of late. A win by Oakdale and their lead for first gets bigger, but a win by Coalfield opens the door for first with 4 teams still in play (Wartburg, OS, Coalfield, and Oakdale). Big night of basketball, pick a gym and attend!!!
  15. District 4a standings as of now... (Alone at the top, 3 way battle for 2nd, 3 way battle at the bottom).... 1. Oakdale 5-0. They remain on top and have a two game lead about halfway in the district slate. 2t. Coalfield 3-2. Split with Wartburg, beat OS. 2t. OS 3-2. Beat Wartburg, lost to Coalfield. 2t. Wartburg 3-2. Split with Coalfield, lost to OS. 5. Sunbright 1-4. Split with Oneida. 6. Jellico 1-5. Beat Oneida. 7. Oneida 1-5. Split with Sunbright. It's going to be a fun next few weeks to see how this plays out. Can Oakdale stay on top? Who will push thru and get 2nd and push Oakdale? Can any of the bottom 3 make a run at 4th?
  16. OS vs Coalfield As expected, the gym was hot, the floor got a little slick, and this one wasn't over until the final buzzer as Coalfield holds on for a one pt win. The game was pretty tight thru 3 quarters and was tied at 52 going into the 4th. Then things got crazy. Coalfield raced out and took a 11 or so point lead and it looked as if Coalfield had it in the bag. Then here come OS in the final 3 or so minutes as OS got hot. But the ralley fell short as the bobcats hit a 3 but didn't have any timeouts under 5 seconds and time expired. My D4a rankings as of now: 1. Oakdale - they are here until someone beats them. 2-4. OS, Wartburg, Coalfield - too close to call. All games between each have been barn burners!! Get ready for all the tie breakers. 5. Jellico - they have ability to be a spoiler for the top 4, but not ready to be in that group. 6a- Onieda, 6b-Sunbright - Slight edge to Oneida, but both are bottom two.
  17. OS vs Wartburg It was a game of runs, highs and lows for both teams. Wartburg jumped out first to a big lead and led 26-11. The 2nd quarter was the complete reverse and OS started on a 8-0 run and won the 2nd quarter 26-13. Both teams had some foul trouble in the first half to key players. The 2nd half was back and forth until late in 4th when OS had a 6 pt lead with 40 secs to go. Wartburg fought back and tie it up to send it to the 1st OT. The first OT was low scoring, both teams scoring 5, OS had a 2 pt lead under a min but couldn't close out once again. Carroll was inches from hitting a half court shot to end it. The 2nd OT saw Wartburg score 1st, but Evans nailed a 3 for OS to regain the lead and once again OS had a 6pt lead with about 1:40 to go. Wartburg once again fought back and tied it up and had the ball with under 20 secs to go. But a good defensive stand by OS led to Murray taking it to the house and hitting a layup as time expired. Both teams fought hard. Hate to say it but I could have watched this game go all night. It was a great high school game!
  18. Tellico played in a bowl game so they didn't practice until the week before that game. Had about a week, still more than Coalfield plus they had to learn a new coach/system which is a totally different style than last year's system/coach.
  19. I'm going to throw out some fun topics to debate until the season gets here....... 1. Name the projected district MVP and next best 5 for either or both district. 2. Where is everyone going for pre-season scrimmages/playdays? 3. Top newcomers to make an impact (either a FR or a JV player ready to make an impact on varsity)
  20. Tellico has a new coach....will that help or hurt them as they do have a couple of good players?
  21. With summer camps done, let's here some feedback..... I saw Wartburg, Oliver Springs, Coalfield and I feel all 3 will be competing for the top spot along with Oakdale. Coalfield went 6-2 and OS 7-1 at TTU against similar opponents. Wartburg's fast pace system looked good. Anyone have any info on other teams?
  22. I agree Coalfield has plenty of upside with all the youth, but are they ready to take it away from Oakdale who is seasoned and returns everyone from a team that finished #1? Coalfield will be there in the thick of it, my big question is there another team or 2 that can hang with Oakdale and Coalfield in 4A? I like Meigs as of now as the team to beat in the region, with Grace, Coalfield, and Oakdale fighting for second.
