    Red Cards

Big G no there has not been an increase in red cards, in fact I believe they have went down in the past 2 years. Now let me try to explain the 2 game suspension process for soccer. the season is 8 weeks long and there is a 16 game schedule. if you play 2 games in one week it is the same as a football player sitting out 1 game because it is 2 weeks before he can play again. This is the rational thinking to even it up for all sports/ if you look at each sports calender I believe in each sport you penalized the same in making a player and or a coach to sit out 1 week by the calender. With all this said i may be wrong but that was the explanation that was given to me. Whitey as far as the 2 red card violations that you mentioned I'm not saying your wrong but i also don't think you should have different penalties for red cards. one penalty fits all is not always fair but there also is no gray area either. The problem as I see it in soccer is that these kids play select soccer when not in high school season and there is not the sportsmanship put in select as high school ball. i'm not saying the high school coaches teach dirty play but I do know that select coaches teach it because they can get away with it in select. what everyone needs to understand is high school soccer is not select soccer it is high school soccer. played by high school rules not fifa even though most are the same, there are differences because of sportsmanship and alot of the kids are not select players playing the game. that is what everyone needs to realize. I could go on and on but I think you get the gest of what I'm tying to say.

    Red Cards

First of all when your team scores the clock is stopped per the rules. ( SO THERE IS NO NEED TO GRAB THE BALL) Yes your opponet would get a red card for exhibiting violent conduct during a dead ball. Yes you could get one for taunting but a referee would have to be there during that game to see what is happening that lead you to grab the ball and your actions when grabbing the ball. ( i have never seen the scoring team go into the net a grab the ball after they scored. last I will restate there is no reason to grab it the clock has stopped.

    Red Cards

Which Red card offense would you not give two games for. (straight Red) exhibiting violent conduct taunting committing serious foul play spitting at an opponent spitting at a game official using insulting, offensive or abusive language or gesture (toward player or official) leaving team area for a fight deliberate hand ball to stop a goal deliberate foul to keep an opposing player from scoring on a break-away These are from the rulebook. In my opinion Sitting out 2 games is not harsh for any of these acts. you don't sit out for a yellow/red offense (unless by school mandate which there are some).
  6. It's not harsh it reality. The kids play the refs ref its that simple if you don't like the call stink it up and move on. Yes I have four daughters /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" /> and they all played basketball at the high school level and one played college ball for four years. They all got tee'd up a few times, but like I told them after the game you deserved it with your actions. they finally learned and quit thinking everyone else is wrong. and may I say they are wonder adults now. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  7. HERES AN UNBIASED OPINION. tHE KID GOT THE FIRST FOR HIS HAND GESTURE AND HE GOT THE SECOND FOR HIS HAND GESTURE. yES THE SECOND ONE WAS QUICK BUT HE SHOULD HAVE LEARNED FROM THE FIRST ONE. i TOO AS A FATHER WOULD NOT PUT UP WITH MY CHILDREN ACTING LIKE THAT DURING A GAME. WHEN THEY CAME HOME THEY GOT A BUTT CHEWING FROM ME FOR ACTING THAT WAY. BUT IN TODAYS WORLD EVERYONES KIDS NEVER DO NOTHING WRONG IT IS ALWAYS SOMEELSES FAULT THAT IT HAPPENED. BE A MAN A STAND UP AND SAY MY CHILD WAS WRONG AND SHOULD NOT ACT THAT WAY. IT,LL NEVER HAPPEN. MY UNBIASED OPPINION ON THE FILM AND SUBJECT.
  8. When the coaches coach a perfect ballgame and the kids play a perfect ballgame, then the ref,s that you think are so bad will call a perfect ballgame. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> You people need to get a life and quit living your wanna be sports life through the KIDS ON THESE TEAMS and just let everyone have fun and let the chips fall where they may. one last thing people quit WHINNNNNNNNNNING. I,M OUT. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  9. Melton07 Just a few questions for you. Are you a supervisor, or an assigner. You speak as if you have 50 years experiance on the game.

  11. I'll be there. I will be refereeing Wed. and Thurs. I will have a Black hrra association shirt on.
  12. Well Whitey why don't we let the referee's judge which coaches can coach and which are ignorant of the fact that they can't coach. then we will call it even. Are you even from Shelbyville? I haven't seen any one on here from Shelbyville post a negative about this game, it seems you are the only disgruntled fan. I heard it was a great game and it was ashamed someone had to lose. I have an Idea why don't we play till someone scores instead of pk's then you wouldn't have a gripe with the way it ended. Oh yea you probably would have found something else to whine about.

    Refereeing

in the high school game the clock is stopped for goal, injury penalty kicks and any cards given, and also may be stop on substitutions if the refree thinks the winning team is substituting to stall. the rule of adding time is fifa. goalkeepers may bounce the ball as long as it is possesion and has 6 seconds to get rid of it. offsides is a different animal in its self. most fans are watching the game (which means the ball) they have no idea where the players were when it was kicked, you have one set of fans yelling offsides and the other set saying it was alright. in my opinion the refs get the call right 95% of the time. nobody is perfect and no teams are perfect, but everyone wants to lay the blame on the officials. I never see on here where an open shot was missed that cost a team the game. or that the defense had a break down. Eveyone wants to blame it on a call. So everyone needs to remember that most of the officials do the best they can, and yes they will miss some, but hey what about praise when they get them right.

  15. Warren County finally breaks a 39 game losing streak. I want to be the first to congradulate the team and coaches. thumb
  16. Then Why on the TSSAA web site that there is a teaching opening that goes along with the job? That was not a personal shot on anyone. you must have a guilty conscience.
  17. Lets see where can I start. $10 per night for gas x 3 nights x 16 weeks = $ 480 . If ref works 4 games a week then that is an extra $160, 480 + 160 = 640. 2 pair of pants a year $120, one pair of shoes $110, 2 shirts $60, = $290. TSSAA fee $50, Association fee $70, = $120. Basketball camp $175. For a grand total of $1225 that officials have to spend, using your figure of 4160 minus 1225 equals 2935. Lets take this figure divide it by game and travel hours. Lets say 3 hours for 2 games, and a average travel time both ways one hour and thirty minutes, thats 4 1/2 hours a night times 64 games equals 288 hours. So lets divide 2935 dollars by 288 hours and we get $ 10.20 an hour. So I would say we are getting rich officiating. This does not count being away from your family.
  18. Where in the rule book does it say the keeper is supposed to be warned. As I have been told there is no such warning in the rule book.
  19. Tullahoma won 4-3 with 55 secs left in the last sudden death period.

  21. COACHES WATCH OUT. The ultimate penalty Coach questions call, shot to death on field by referee Posted: Sunday July 25, 2004 2:15PM; Updated: Sunday July 25, 2004 2:27PM JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) -- A South African soccer referee pulled a gun and shot dead a coach who questioned one of his rulings, police said on Sunday. Inspector Mali Govender of the Grahamstown police in the Eastern Cape province said a fight broke out after the referee gave a yellow warning card to a player in a local match on Saturday. "There was an altercation...and the referee became threatened when the other team approached him because they were angry," Govender said. "So he pulled out a gun and killed the coach of the visiting team." Govender said the coach died on the field while the referee fled the scene. Police were confident of making an arrest soon, she added. South Africa has one of the world's highest murder rates with an alarming 47.4 murders per 100,000 people, or eight times the figure for the United States. Scandal won't delay PSL season Meanwhile, South Africa's Premier Soccer League (PSL) season will kick off as planned next month despite the arrests of 33 referees and other officials in a match-fixing crackdown, a PSL director said last week. Those arrested over the past five weeks in a police probe code-named Operation Dribble are mostly referees but include club directors and other officials and match commissioners, a police spokesman said. South African soccer has long been rife with allegations of corruption, but the wave of arrests shocked a soccer establishment still celebrating winning the right to host the continent's first World Cup in 2010. South African media have speculated that the reduced pool of referees available to officiate at league matches would interfere with the start of the league season on August 7. "We do have enough referees. ... Operation Dribble doesn't affect the start of the season," PSL finance director Ronnie Schloss told Reuters. Police spokesman Selby Bokaba said he was not expecting any more people to be arrested in the near future. "Now it's up to the department of public prosecutions to decide how to proceed. All of them have made brief court appearances," Bokaba said. "We've done our investigation." All 33 of those arrested have been released on bail, he added. The investigation was requested by the South African Football Association several months ago after repeated allegations of cheating in the country's lower leagues. The probe was widened to include the PSL, the most lucrative league on the African continent. A brief statement on SAFA's website said police had provided it with a progress report on the investigation and confirmed there would be enough referees to start the season as planned. "The association is satisfied with the result achieved by this exercise," it added. Copyright 2004 Reuters Limited. All rights reserved. 23. After all expenses are paid the rest of the money goes to my 3 daughters in college.
  24. OH BUKI BOY lets go a step further with this. First we have to buy gas 1.75 a gal. average dist for me 100 mile round trip 10.00. 2 softball games 65.00. Time 1 1/2 hours travel and 3 hours 2 ball games. Ok lets see hear 65.00 minus 10 for gas thats 55.00. 55.00 divided by 4 1/2 hours is 12.22 cents. Time away from family you can't put a price on it. So 99 percent of the umpires I know do it for the love of the game and the kids, not for themselves or the money.
