  1. Could there be a STAMPEDE coming soon?
  2. As strength said anyone on the list would make good coaches because nearly all of them are or have coached basketball on some level before. It looks like the real people who may take the job are Broadway who helped out this year, McKissack who has a daughter playing if she's not in the 8th grade, Lawson LCHS girls assistant, Cox LCHS boys assistant, or Lee's daughter Krystal Hinson. Who knows, have any of these people even thought about taking the job?
  3. It sounds like the District Tournament this year should be exciting. There is no clear cut favorite, with Giles, Lewis, Loretto, and Fairview all pretty strong. It is up for grabs.
  4. Eagleman is misleading many readers of CoachT by his comments above. Obviously he must have listened to the game on the radio and wasn't in attendance or he would have seen there was no foul on the missed 2 foot shot by the Tigers. And although the Panthers played sloppy, they were ahead just as much during the game, if not more, than the Tigers. After 1 it was 6-5. At halftime the Tigers went up 2 on a lucky 3 point heave at the buzzer. The Tigers then outscored the Panthers by ONE point in the 3rd to take a three point lead. However in the fourth poor play by the Tigers and great play from the Panthers (especially Curfman and Lavette) resulted in the Panthers outscoring the Tigers 15-8. Clearly the game was close but the Panthers stepped up when it mattered and won the biggest/most important game of the year for them so far. I hope Eagleman doesn't represent the typical Marshall County fan. And I surely hope that number 24 doesn't represent their average player. He acted cocky and foolish the entire game, but at the end he really blew his lid. After he missed the potential game winnng 2 foot jump shot (where there was absolutely no foul) he viciously hacked Sparkman, resulting in a flagrant foul. Then according to many of our fans after the game, he walked toward our crowd and said "f*~$ you" to those looking at him. The tirade didn't stop there either as he went and SAT DOWN on the court as Sparkman shot his 2 free throws. I'm sure had he made the easy 2 foot game winning shot he would have pulled a Ron Artest and flipped off our crowd. Hopefully the coaches or administration will look into this and not condone his actions. Good luck Panthers on win number 8 in a row Saturday. [Edited by BillWalton on 1-31-03 8:43A]
  5. Look at how well the Lewis County Lady Panthers have played lately. They are 2-2 since the X-mas break began with losses only coming to a Louisiana 5A powerhouse and the mighthy Giles County squad. The team is beginning to mold together and should definitely pick things up this second half of the season. Tonight is an important district game against the all-powerful Page team that has only 1 tarnish on its schedule (Speaking of schedules, the Lady Panthers have the 5th toughest in the state according to the site on CoachT). Good luck tonight, ladies.
  6. Where is the sportsmanship at in Pulaski? You have a great superstar in Tyler Smith who can really "throw it down" and a good supporting bench but they show little class and only want to play razzle-dazzle basketball. Smith, Eric Howard and Travis Gentry had a great game against the mediocre Panthers yet seemed to show-out like they were beating up on the Sacremento Kings. However I liked what I saw in the warm-ups for the 'Cats. It was entertaining and can mentally intimidate the other team, which I believe it did to a few Panthers. But once the clock starts ticking you have to leave the streetball tactics behind you. I mean what was Coach Holt thinking leaving in the starters until 2 minutes to go? Clearly he must have a sour taste and grudge against Lewis County, or perhaps he does this to all teams he plays and is beating by only 26 points. True champions do not act in this manner, and if Giles County is to win the 2A title then their attitudes must change (both the player's and coach's).
  7. Gomab needs to Gohome. His latest rankings still leave out the panthers after their big win and total domination Friday night. What is more crazy is he still has Marshall County in the rankings even after a 0-2 start. The panthers really need a win tonight to earn the respect they deserve. It will be tough but they can do it. From what I've heard Giles County just plays streetball, so if the panthers play hard and smart they just might do it.
  8. My boys are going to whip those Vikings this Friday. Perry County doesn't have a chance against the mighty Panther offense and defensive line. It's true our secondary is weak but Perry County doesn't have a quarterback who can get the ball down field. Panthers 54 Vikings 6
