  1. Your screen name Father Ryan Wrestling.....that's some name you've chosen there. It is very disheartening to read such negative remarks about a school in which you obviously have a love for. I have been watching these young men off and on all season. I personally know several. I have never once witnessed a bad attitude. They are hard working, God fearing, wonderful young men. How can you say this? What actions have they shown to you that deems you to say they have a bad attitude? Like the poster before me said; Ryan has such limitations compared to all the other D2 schools. Their weight room is the size of most people's closets, Fr. Ryan's money is very lilmited, they pay for their own warm ups and stuff, I personally think they have great spirit, pride, and attitude. And Coach Schoen (sp?) is a great addition to Ryan wrestling. He is superb in his knowledge and attitude, and you can tell he truly loves those wrestlers. Coach Simp is an icon at FRHS. Please be careful using such harsh accusations in the future. These are all great guys and everyone of them cares about each other and their team and their school. Take care and good luck to all the guys this weekend in Clarksville! Go IRISH!
  2. Matt Morales is undeafeated in Tennessee.
  3. Stovepiper Man, I am not an aggresor. I am a a peaceful guy. I don't like confrontation. I just know Matt and his style......saying you only know the "famous ones" was a TOTAL PUTDOWN" to all the guys that go to practice day in and day out just like Dunning does and sweats the blood and tears. That was MEGA TACKY of you to say. I know wrestling. I have been around it and my family has just as long, if not longer, than our dear friends the Simpsons and Dunnings...........so don't go there dude....it ain't right.
  4. Great for Leen, I would of loved to have seen the Manley match! However, Patrick Simpson recently won the New York state championship, so his upside is looking pretty bright.
  5. Great letter Lee. You have an awesome family.
  6. Oh okay....well thank goodness you were there to explain to all of us morans. And the Ryan "kid" has a name, he's one of the best "kids" you'll ever meet....Matt Morales.
  7. My family says it was the best $3.00 they have spent in a long time. Kudos to both Coach Simpsons on entertaining alot of great folks on a Friday night in Nash Vegas....I hear "all" the boys gave it their all and a great time was had by all. As Napolean Dynamite would say......."Luckyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" Wish I had been there!
  8. Does anyone have the individual results from the McCallie vs Notre Dame match?
  9. There is no question Whitt Dunning. He "surgically" dissects his opponents like a masterful surgeon. He is ONE of the most talented wrestlers I have ever had the priviledge to watch over many years. This is not to take away from Nick Marable. However, I see it as brute strength vs. a PHD/MD in manhandling. Whitt by far the best wrestler in the state of Tennessee.
  10. I so agree, Cody is a stud and a defending champion, no doubt about it. Morales was not in the B'wood tourney, Clevland did not win the McCallie tourney, Fr.Ryan tourney Morales fought back like heck and came in third. Morales won the CBHS tourney in his weight class this past weekend and he was very sick at the McCallie tourney. (I know this website is brutal...you all will say "I am making excuses for him") Look.....Cody has BEEN the man since he was like six years old it seems, everyone KNOWS he's very, very talented. I didn't bring this up YOU did. I am just saying there is always someone hungrier, thirstier knocking on your door. I think Matt and Cody would be a great match to see and good luck to both of those fine young men.
  11. Don't count your eggs before they're hatched my friend.
  12. Mr. Mayo, First of all...what "predicting" have I done? You have some nerve to talk about saying what one thinks on a public forum. I was taught to respect my elders, so this I will. My response is just like an older brother telling his younger brother to keep his mouth shut "for his own good" and to wait your turn in life for things. Sometimes younger ones need that ya know. For you to get so upset over my comment telling a freshman to cool his jets and not do so much talking, I think is weird. It is condesending of you to think I do not realize that the freshman are a part of the Ryan team. We are both Ryan supporters. I don't think YOU NEED TO CORRECT ME in a public forum. I was not adressing you in the first response to the freshman young man, but you felt compelled to respond to me in a stabbing way anyway. You, my friend, are not the official voice of Ryan wrestling. We obviously both have Irish blood and let's just agree to disagree on some of our thoughts. Of course I wish the Irish well this weekend and if I can make it in town I will buy you a diet coke.
  13. "Let's play nice"? How bout "let's not be cocky"
  14. Hey Frosh......keep your mouth shut, wait til it's your turn, then you can speak up.
  15. I find that offensive, even though I am sure you don't mean it to be, Matt needs no excuses believe me, just letting the readers know his situation. I think you've told people your son has been ill before, no?
  16. Just had to mention that Morales was really sick "and" injured last weekend. On top of being sick he sprained his foot in his first match and was miserable the rest of the tourney. His parents said they felt bad they even let him wrestle because he was on so many meds, then the foot in the first match. Matt is my cousin and I know how mean he is on the mat! Outside of the wrestling room he's a great guy. He would kill me if he knew I posted this cause no offense to Coach t or the posters or readers (me...I personally enjoy it) He hates coacht.com....says it's all a bunch of braggin parents. sorry mo but i had to put in a good word for ya!
  17. You're right, Ryan is a very young team returning only four starters from last year.
  18. The definition of practice to a coach AND player (in this case wrestler) as I see it: A time for the COACH and the WRESTLING TEAM to condition, teach, learn, bond, excel, etc... The definition of a game or match: When mother and dad and siblings and fans can come and SEE what the COACH and WRESTLER learned in practice. Hey Dad (and sometimes Mom, now that's weird seriously) stay away from the practices. Unless you're a dad that is INVITED by the coach to help teach the wrestlers.....stay away. It's rude, the wrestlers don't like it, the coaches don't like it, and lots of parents don't appreciate you being there either.
  19. The brackets are not ready yet on Tssaa.org, only the coaches have them today.
  20. Yep....I agree Buck L...I sure miss the days of Tom Squires. He was so good for the sport of wrestling as a young sports reporter at THE TENNESSEAN. Tom always made time to keep wrestling in the spot light at THE TENNESSEAN in the early years before moving to Florida and working for a paper there. (he's back in town and has been for several years, I still miss him though) We need to all be thankful for THE NASHVILLE CITY PAPER for they do a good job keeping the town informed with the goings on in high school RASSLIN.....Hey TENNESSEAN! You DO have an audience that still cares about this sport....get with the times! (but hey...thanks for todays article
  21. What about Mike Morales, 1974 state champ from Fr. Ryan. He has a son Matt (a junior at Ryan) who hopefully will be a state champ. Matt has several state champs in his family, Joe Morales, (Fr. Ryan) his uncle, Bubba Donnelly (Fr. Ryan), his uncle and Justin Zapp, (Brentwood High) his cousin ----- I'd say that poor guy has some pressure on him to follow in the family's footsteps.
