  1. The score was like 60 - 8 Father Ryan McTorry and the heavyweight won from BA and all the rest were creamed, not a good night for BA, but a normal night for the Irish - soon to be Division 11 champs
  2. Sorry, Father Ryan did not wrestle Butler in the finals, but Harrison. It came down to the last match with Adam Stark (FR) and he pinned his guy and Father Ryan won the tournament.
  3. I do not know that, but I do believe Father Ryan is wrestling a team called Butler in the finals. If I hear from them I will post it asap
  4. Father Ryan is 3 -0 and MBA is 2 - 1 as of 3:00 p.m. 12-7-02
  5. Ouch! That's a lot worse than calling someone a name, telling them to "end their life", that's sick....I truly wonder what you so called sports fans are thinking. What does this have to do with Division 2? I now see why I didn't pull up Coach T for several weeks, cause I got so tired of all the mouthing and negativity and b.s. Some of these folks take all this WAY TOO seriously - the city slickers as well as the country bumpkins.
  6. You are so very right. High School Sports are games played by our precious children and when one of those children get injured (or worse) we all become a loving concerned community. And the true faith I see on this coacht forum is uplifting, (especially when the U.S. has taken prayer out of school). I know the large majority of Tennesseans are prayerful, God fearing folks. We all love to watch the young ones play, but safely. They are our precious jewels. Adam, the Father Ryan community sends their thoughts and prayers as well. Keep the faith big guy! You may want to contact the artist that paints all the Vanderbilt murals (coaches) on the ME GREEK, YOU GREEK fraternal shop(615-327-2559)wall on WEST END next to Vanderbilt. Great artwork, but may be pricey....don't know. Good luck though, and I think it's a great idea.
  9. RR- Have you ever heard of "tongue in cheek" expressions, I wasn't serious about name, phone, etc..., just being sarcastic. Look man....we're supposed to be on the same team This thread is getting embarrassingly ridiculuous. Truce.
  10. I am a FAN. And isn't this a FORUM where FANS can "make suggestions", "give opinions", etc....loosen up RR. Thus far, Vinett is the only QB that has made things happen, heck...I'd just like to see them win one! And why should it matter who I am....why don't YOU give your name, address, social security, phone number, etc...then maybe we'll all feel as if your posts are more noteworthy. Tsk, Tsk, calm it down bro [Edited by fatkat on 9-17-02 7:28A]
  11. I would like to make a suggestion to Coach Jemison. Sean Vinett should be the Irish's starting QB. The offense HAS TO be more balanced and has to eat up more clock to keep the defense off the field. Our offensive line is not strong enough when you telegraph the running plays.
  12. Yes, that is the reason,(on side kick) and it was low on Goodpasture's part and that coach wasn't teaching his boys well either, but still, I am from the school where you shake hands even if you're angry at the opposing team for a lack of class, they can grumble about them AFTER they left the field 2 wrongs don't make a right, right??? Both coaches did their teams a disservice. There is always two sides to a pancake! So, in defense of Father Ryan, sure, it was cheap of GP granted, but we are above that.

    Father Ryan

Hey....no offense taken with you. It was cbg's comments which ticked me off anyway. I know they aren't going to be that good this year, I just don't like the blatant "they're a bad team" stuff. These kids work hard and long and MANY FACTORS, as you well know, go into a football program. Yes, all the recruiting issues, public/private, etc..etc.. are involved, we all know that. Kurt and his wife Candy and their three boys are personal friends of mine, they're great people, I love'em, all I was saying is that I believe Kurt would still be at Ryan if he could, sure he was frustrated with some issues, but I believe it wasn't a decision of his to leave. He loves Father Ryan, is a graduate, and was proud to coach there. [Edited by fatkat on 9-1-02 9:41A] And there are plenty of good boys coming up in the ranks, Vinett is one heck of an athlete, a great q.b., the Morales kid and Mingus kid can run as fast as a freight trains and Jonathan Crawford, Worley, etc...all great athletes! 14. I am ashamed and embarassed that Father Ryan acted in this fashion. As a Fr.Ryan fan and supporter Goodpasture, please accept all of our apologies for this most inappropriate behavior. You are correct......it is just bad sportmanship.(Did the Wyoming coach shake hands with Coach Fulmer last night after that tail beating.......you bet he did!) A team must always shake hands at the end, and believe me there were many a Father Ryan football player who came home and told their family that they were ashamed as well. Please forgive, it was'nt the boys....... [Edited by fatkat on 9-1-02 2:24A]

    Father Ryan

Plenty of great athletes on the current Father Ryan football team. Don't think Kurt Pate "wanted' to leave....if you know what I mean. Father Ryan is in a rebuilding era right now (and the insults as far as the boys being small and slow) are not true. These are great athletes just needing some time to "get it together" under the new leadership. Goodpasture had many a bad year in football....more so than Ryan, so, before you all go bashing a great tradition in this town brush up on your stats. The Irish WILL get it together, they are just too tough not to!!!!!!!!!
  17. There is a rising sophomore at Father Ryan named Matt Morales. I believe Matt wrestled about 138 last year, but I bet he's grown some He is supposedly going to be a real contender on the mat this season. He gave Bond Davis a tough match last year at the City Championships at McGavock. His dad was a state champ and two of his uncles, so it's in the family.
  18. Joe Drennan put high school wrestling on the map in Middle Tennessee. He was the first coach in middle Tennessee to win the state, back when it was both public and private. He was the maker of such fine wrestling familes such as the Simpsons, the Donnelly's, the Morales', the Wilsons, the Garmons, Yogi Walsh, and the like. It is a shame that he was taken at such a young age. Joe, here's to you!!!
