  1. At this point Cornersville would be in. Huntingdon would move back to Quad 4, and Cornersville would join Quad 3.
  2. Yeah I understand that, but how about if they ended up with the 2 seed. They would avoid SP until the quarters and get the Huntland v Whitwell winner in round 2.
  3. I understand how to do it up until the seeding of teams. Seems too complicated. Can someone else pick up where my brain left off?
  4. I was trying to figure this thing out. Probably am way off, but this is what I came up with. I would really like some help with the situation. It is not fun not knowing who you are going to play in the playoffs and when you will play them. This system is blowing my mind, but this is what I came up with. I seeded according to Wild Card ranking. This means some Wild Cards are seeded higher than Region Winners. Also 3 of the top 4 teams are in the same Quad (Quad 3). The top 2 teams each get a bye in the first round I believe but I could be wrong with that too. Quad 1: 1. Knoxville Grace 2. Harriman 3. Sunbright 4. Monterey 5. Copper Basin 6. Cloudland Quad 2: 1. South Pittsburgh 2. Lookout Valley 3. Whitwell 4. Gordonsville 5. Huntland 6. MTCS (And MTCS just beat Huntland 28-0) Quad 3: 1. JoByrns 2. Wayne Co. 3. Huntingdon 4. Collinwood 5. Perry Co. 6. Clarksville Academy Quad 4: 1. West Carroll 2. Union City 3. Gleason 4. Lake Co. 5. South Fulton 6. MAHS The system gets the most of the best teams in, aside from a few (Cloudland, MAHS, Clarksville Ac), but if they are seeded according to the Wild Card formula I do not like it. Also with the Quads, I just took the 6 closest teams in the East and moved West. I do not think Huntingdon would move to Quad 3, but geographically they would. Like I said, this is what I got and I need help because I do not get it. Am I right? Someone help!
  5. I am not saying we cannot be friends. Just saying there is no love loss between the two schools in between numbers. Was a battle last year, and probably my favorite game (aside Jo Byrns).
  6. Back on Topic: As c-11 pointed out in the other thread, this game has a lot more meaning to it than some might think. If MTCS wins out, and Forrest wins out, then there would be a three-way tie at the top of the district standings between Cascade, Forrest, and MTCS. This makes this game very important, and I will look at it from the MTCS side. How would you feel starting out like they did (2-5), then tying for the regular season district crown, which I would believe was their goal coming into the year. That would be huge for the team and the program. For Cascade a loss means they would most likely have to rely on the wild card to get into the playoffs, which is a scary thing for any team. This game is absolutely huge. And did I mention these teams do not really like each other??? Also another interesting point but have there been two teams in 1A or 2A that have gone out and scheduled like these teams: Cascade has played South Pitt, Davidson (before Williams injury), Mt. Pleasent, Jo Byrns, Forrest MTCS has played Friendship, Watertown, Cannon Co, Forrest, Ezell-Harding Neither team shyed away from anyone and the overall records show it. But I think those games will help both teams out in the long run.
  7. Cascade 11... At least you got the jist of my post. You can't blame injuries or suspensions. They are part of the game.
  8. If we are making excuses MTCS has played the year with somebody important hurt ever game, with a team of about 35 kids thats pretty big. Plus their best player has played all of 9 quarters.
  9. My joke was that Community is beating everybody so that must be why all these teams are picking fights with them... But you made some good points. I am not picking on them, but when I have seen them be cheap with my own eyes, they have been in 2 big fights this year, and others are getting on here claiming them to be cheap & dirty, one can only come to one conclusion. Whether it is coaching, the kids, losing, the school, I do not know. I do know that Community has a reputation for playing dirty, not only in regular season games, but also in scrimmages.
  10. They must want to beat them up, since they can't beat them on the score board Mike.........
  11. Community has gotten in a fight with Columbia Academy. Community has gotten in a fight with MTCS. Community has gotten in a brawl with Richland. Seems to be a pattern.
  12. friendship- 47 to 3 watertown- 25 to 0 MTCS was outscored in their first two games: 72-3 (0-2) moore co- 30 to 7 community- 48 to 0 MTCS has outscored region opponents: 78-7 (2-0) Winning when it matters, also the competition was much worse. Friendship was a huge test for them and I thought Watertown was the better team as well. The 12-10 loss against Ezell-Harding hurts, because the Cougars are a better football team. Also if you go back to last year, I think MTCS was outscored for the year and they went 7-4... you don't have to outscore your opponents overall, just on a nightly basis.
  13. Well we have made it to the midway point of the season (for most teams). How do you see the District shaping out the rest of the way. How has impressed? How has struggled? What players have done well? Standings: 1. MTCS 2-3 (2-0) 2. Huntland 3-1 (1-0) 3. Cascade 1-3 (1-0) 4. Forrest 3-1 (1-1) 5. Eagleville 1-4 (1-0) 6. Moore County 3-2 (0-2) 7. Community 0-4 (0-2) I guess my surprise is that MC is 0-2 in the region. I was shocked they lost to Huntland, although MTCS totally dominated them up front aside from one run. Huntland seems to be better than people thought they would be. Community is awful, they are poorly coached, and seem to be looking for fights, more than wins. MTCS can run the ball, and can stop the run. Their downfall will be teams who throw the ball on them, they seem to struggle in the secondary. Cascade is still the team to beat, the record reflects the schedule, not the team. Forrest is probably second best in the district, but I think MTCS can play with them, they should be 3-2 right now, and they have only had their best player for 6 quarters so far. Should be a fun finish.
  14. I was not talking to you, I was saying in general. A lot of people around here will think he is the reason and they need to realize he is not.
  15. Getting RJ Miller back was huge for the Cougars this week. He is not only the best athlete on the team, but he makes everyone else better. Stephen Brent becomes a much better option when RJ is involved in outside runs, because it opens up the middle for Brent to pound (kind of like a lendale/chris johnson thing). I thought Coats ran the ball well this week also. This was the first time all year the Cougars actually showed some sort of life. I felt like they were fired up, which did not seem to be the case in Weeks 0 & 1. The defense made 5 fourth & short stops, and kept the good job against the run. The Cougars must realize this is a stepping stone though and that one win does not make your season. They have to bring that kind of effort every game from here on out if they want to be successful. Effort was the biggest difference for the Cougars this week, not getting Miller back. Although that helped.
  16. Huntland vs Riverside Christian- RCS is usually weak, picking based on past. Cascade vs. Davidson Academy- Cascade will show people why they will be a big threat this year. M.T.C.S. vs. Friendship Christian- I will make a thread for this one. Forrest vs. Clarksville Academy- Heath Dyer might give Forrest trouble though. Moore County vs. Richland Eaglevillevs. Ezell Harding- Eagles must find QB to replace Wilson though, and they have the man that can make that happen in Coach Alex Robbins.
  17. I understand man, tough this way too. I would be interested in just a thread talking about all region games, it seemed to be a big time thread on the board last year. Losing the JBS fans will hurt, but still have Cascade, Forrest, and Us to help keep the coacht thing going. Hope the Cougars show up on Friday, if not, it could be a long night.
  18. Cascade, are you going to put up a thread for every region team, like you did last year? Or the thread talking about the week in the region with a poll? Just wondering?
  19. I hear good things about Cascade and they have a ton of talent coming back. Replacing the QB will be big, but I hear this one might be better. Davidson is going to pound the ball with the Williams' kid, but I think Cascade is big enough to stop them up front. I think Cascade wins this one, pretty easy: Cascade 31 Davidson 14
  20. I think the goal is to run the ball more, but yesterday at the scrimmage against Cornersville they were without their number 1 RB and the only FB on the team was hurt on the 2nd or 3rd series. They struggled, and seemed to me to have no effort what so ever in getting drilled 4-0. If MTCS shows up like they did yesterday they might not win a game this year. There was no effort and Cornersville just seemed to want it more. Hopefully Coach Peden and his staff can get them right before it is too late. Friendship will dominate them if they come close to playing like they did yesterday in week one.
  21. MTCS will not be at the scrimmage this year. Team looks good over here though. Lost quite a few kids from last year (7: 6 seniors/1 junior), but a lot of talent returning and lots of depth up front. If Ivey Starling can step in and lead the offense, I see no reason why they can't grab one of the two playoff spots for the A schools. Scrimmage last saturday at Mt. Pleseant went well. MTCS ended up winning 3 TD's/1 safety to 1 TD, but MTP had some troubles snapping the ball and I heard the starting QB did not play, but overall I was surprised at some people stepping up from MTCS. Big scrimmage tomorrow down at Cornersville, I think we will see if MTCS has developed anymore this week, or if they took steps back. Should be another exciting year, but I will miss old Region 5-1A (best 1A region in the state last year). My Picks: Cascade Forrest Eagleville MTCS Moore County Huntland Community (Those top 4 will make the playoffs I think)
  22. I think when you look at the job Kevin Starks has done at Harding Academy it is rather impressive. First of all he replaced a big name in Pete Frodden and in his first year he led his team to the State SemiFinals. I think he has doen a fantastic job there and he doesn't get the respect he deserves. Also a great person and man. 2005- State Semi's (Beat Baylor;Lost to Brentwood Academy (Brandan Wright) BA Won Championship) 2006- State Semi's (Beat Knoxville Webb;Lost to Brentwood Academy (Brian Wright/Brandon Brown) BA Won Championship) 2007- Region Tournament 2008- State Champs (Beat St. Georges (Elliot Williams/Laurence Bowers);Beat Tipton Rosemark in OT) 2009- State Champs (Beat St. Georges)
  23. I gained a lot of respect for USN watching them play Harding the other day, then I get on here and read that crap about Brown being Brown, so he will win the Mr. Basketball. The person who won it was the most deserving of the award and he will win it the next two years as well. Brown is not the best basketball player in the league, and it is shown by him not winning the award. Meiko is a very good player, but he was not the best player in A ball this year, Bobby Parks was and he deservingly won the award. Congrats to Harding on another state championship. Also i found it kind of sad that Meiko came out to be announced for the Mr. Basketball award, but didn't come out to get his all-tournament award, found it kind of disrespectful.
  24. no, it has been around for 2 years now. everything down there is relatively new, but nothing is opening up this year. looking forward to week 0 game, should be a good one to see where both teams are at early on.
