  1. the game is at JoByrns... I think this MTCS has a lot to prove, but I think they can... I will be honest, I dont think they even have to play a perfect game to win... just play their game ya know... the talent is there
  2. thats funny, but from what I hear Forrest and McEwen got lucky against WHH........................................
  3. 21-0 at the half... Defense was on the field a lot in the first half though. Forced two turnovers, both turning into touchdowns. I thought Bartilson played a great first half, looked like the work with Coach Robbins is starting to show. Now the 2nd half was different story: MTCS came out flat and looked like they thought the game was over. Although they did drive the ball on the opening drive after a 3 and out to start. Compton dropped a TD pass on 3rd down, then Bartilson made one of his weaker passes on 4th down that Chip Dunn was unable to come up with. The moment of the game was on their next drive after another stop where Bartilson threw a swing route that was intercepted and returned for a TD, from there on out the offense looked soft and shell shocked (this has to be fixed). Defense played well, although it gave up a TD and allowed another one, that was called back. The defense had to been on the field to close to 3/4 of the 2nd half and you could see at the end. But they ended up holding NCS at the end and getting the one first down to take a knee for the third straight week. 28-14 Final MTCS Scoring: 1st Qtr- Eric Compton Pass from Scot Bartilson 2nd Qtr- Dillon Wade Run 2nd Qtr- Nathan Coats Pass from Bartilson 3rd Qtr- Chip Dunn Pass from Bartilson I know #30 and #40 scored for NCS just dont have names... I think MTCS was about 3 TD better and it wont show up on paper because of the way NCS ran the ball and controlled clock. 3-0 is nice especially heading into this stretch of the season. The next two weeks will really show were this team is at.
  4. MTCS beat Perry Co. 27-14 in Week One. They are 2-0. Other than that, nice job!
  5. I in now way think these polls are good or have any good purpose, BUT it was nice beat the 'number 7' team in the state last week, regardless of whether or not they deserved to be there. And also I do think region 5 is THAT good. And I think you hit the nail on the head when you said they beat each other up during the season. I mean a 7-3 team didn't make the playoffs last year. Thats crazy!
  6. radio, you aren't bitter anymore about the game? ha, just kidding. Congratulations on the win last friday, good to see you guys got that monkey off your back, you have some good ball players down there... as for this weeks game: I think it will take a huge defensive effort for NCS to shut Dillon Wade down. The idea so far this year has been for them to pund him early, often, and always. If they can get another solid game (im thinking 25 carries for 150) and the defense plays like it is capable, then I see MTCS winning this game. Now if they shut down the run it will be interesting to see what the Cougars can do through the air and if Scot Bartilson can respond. Should be fun. I was also wondering if there was anywhere you could go to see like leading passers, rushers, tacklers, etc for the state or mid state area. I know through 2 games Devin Brunsvold already has 29 tackles and I wanted to see where that stood compared to others.
  7. Vandy On your Eagle site you have MTCS 1-1, they are 2-0... wouldnt want you to give them any extra motivation... ha /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> also, i was wondering when your 'scouting report' was going up, interested to see what you have to say...
  8. HOMER= i would pick MTCS no matter what I really thought /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  9. still not on the MTCS wagon Cascade11? ha, just kidding Ill take: JoByrns- In a walk Cascade- In a walk Eagleville- I think they have talent and if they respond well to the loss I believe they could still push the playoffs. Also they will hopefully play in better conditions this week for the passing game. WHH- The game with Forrest was actually closer than I thought, and they always seem to find a way to stay around in the region standings. MTCS/NCS- I dont pick the MTCS games just because I would be a homer no matter what, but I will say they have something special brewing over there. A win here and the confidence will be at places its never been entering the two game slaughter of JoByrns/Cascade. Just keep giving D-Wade the ball and playing defense and this team will continue to exceed expectations because they already have. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  10. I think this game could be an extremely low scoring game. Both coaches know each other so well on both sides of the ball. They run the same type of offenses if not the same exact system. Eagleville has more athletes, but hopefully the Cougars can play with a lot of heart. I do like the fact that we were in a 'tough' game last week and that Eagleville hasn't had one of those, maybe that will pay off in the a close game /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> No prediction, but GO Cougars!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  11. Not to sound too rude, but what happened in this one? I mean, every single person picked Perry Co. saying they should have won in the spring and blah blah. All I know is in the spring, MTCS ran the same 3 or 4 plays over and over because that is all they had in at the time. Perry Co. had their whole offense in and still only tied. MTCS has also changed the defense since the spring and that was evident in the fact that they didn't allow a point until about 5 minutes left in the game. I didn't make a prediction because I am not into that kind of thing, but it is just laughable that all of you picked PC and this game wasn't really as close as the score indicated. And before you give these excuses about how you got stopped on the 1 yd line to end the first half and that you had all these penalties on you. MTCS was stopped on the 4 yd line on its first drive, and on its last drive they were stopped on the 2 yd line. And the only big penalty was the one where #10 was kicked out and a clip was also called, but remember MTCS had a TD called back on their first drive because of a penalty as well.
  12. Can DCA stop Marlon Brown? I know Harding lost a close game last year and is expected to be better this time around. Marlon had 2 TD and around 180 total yards on Friday against SBA, but he also had a 44 yd TD and an INT called back. If harding cuts down the mistakes from Week 0, I think they will compete for a championship.
  13. Any opinions? Who wins in Coach Shad's first 1A game?
  14. MTCS scrimmaged at Cornersville Friday 8/8: 1st drive- MTCS drove ball to Cornersville 15, but 2 penalties backed them up and MTCS ended up punting. CHS took the ball and drove the ball well, and hit a big third down pass for a touchdown. 6-0 2nd drive- MTCS then took the ball and continued running the ball down the field and actually threw a couple passes, including a TD pass from #7 to #10. 2pt by #24. 8-6 CHS then took the ball, got one first down and was forced to punt. 3rd drive- MTCS took the ball and threw the ball down the field. A pass to #22 and #10, as well as a TD pass to #20. 2pt conversion by #34. 16-6 CHS picked up a couple first downs and then a fumble was forced by #5 for MTCS, recovered by #72. 4th drive- MTCS drove the ball down the field with a big run by #24. TD by #7. 2pt conversion pass from #7 to #22. 24-6 CHS then fumbled the ball once again back to MTCS. Final Score- MTCS 24 Cornersville 6 Those were basically the drives with the starters. MTCS put in its young guys on the next drive and CHS did as well. MTCS played very well, but there is still plenty room for improvement. Thought they could use a backup QB besides #7, although he looked very impressive and should signs that he has improved very well from last year. I know the RB Dillion Wade looked very good, prolly had close to 100 yards. They pounded it with him then gave other guys the scores (ha.) Looked like the plan is too run a lot, then throw when nescesary. They have another scrimmage next week against Whitwell I believe. It is on Tuesday. Looks like Coach Shad is getting the boys in shape and starting to get the guys to buy into the system and run things the way he wants. Heard great things about camp and it showed today. Keep up the good work.
  15. MTCS scrimmaged down at Cornersville today. 1st drive- MTCS drove ball to Cornersville 15, but 2 penalties backed them up and MTCS ended up punting. 16. I heard they had 40 but might even get up to 45-50 at some point this spring. Also the QB transfered to play baseball elsewhere. He had tons of heart and was a competitor. That might be the most interesting thing this spring is seeing if they can find a QB. Lots of kids back from last years team though and experience does mean something. I hope they do well, and maybe push 5 or 6 wins.
  17. I read in the DNJ that MTCS had their first practice with Coach Shadowens on Saturday. Just wondering if anybody knew how it went and what people think he can do there this year and on? This team gave a couple of the better schools (Jo Byrns, WHH) a good half last year, but always seemed over matched in the second half. Any chance they can compete?
  18. ECS beat Harding 56-53 in the region final MUS beat CBHS in the other... 1. ECS 2. Harding 3. MUS
  19. i went to school there last year, so i know all that.... brown is 6'5" and Hickman is 6'4"... i def. dont play basketball, i stink at it
  20. Is there any chance of any team from the West competing for a crown with BA? CBHS has size in Walker and Mosby, and return a lot of the same gaurds from last year... Harding returns Mariun Price, they also get Tacuma Alexander back from his ankle injury, and get newcomer 6'5" freshman Marlon Brown who has been dominating on the football field this year... This team has more depth than last years, but not the same type of senior leadership that they had with McNutt and Martin... I see maybe a Harding vs BA state championship matchup... featuring the two best players in D2
  21. I dont think shooting 13 of 43 from the three point line and 35% from the field is shooting lights out, because I have been to every Harding game this year and they have shot better than that many times... Plus they were 20-13, they came nowhere close to 18 losses, and the only reason they had a mediocre record is because fo the stretch where they lost Alexander and Corbett, and lost to Cordova, MUS, ECS, St. Benedict, and Briarcrest... Harding is not as good as BA but could beat them if some of the calls made yesterday were not made... By the way, Harding got a Techincal Foul called on them after a foul, the kid shot the two free throws, and then BA was allowed to bring somebody in to shoot the two Techs, and then he got taken right back out, I tought you had to be on the floor when the Tech was called to shoot, kind of classless esp. being up by 15 at that point in the 4th, during the "crazy no fouls on BA, foul on Harding everytime down the court" stage of the game...
  22. It was looking way to easy with five and half minutes left vs Harding.... oh wait that was when you were only up by 4 and the refs were like oh crap, our BA paycheck wont be much if they lose, so you can fill in the rest of the game... 33 to 12.... Free Throws... Harding did the best they could with it tho, hitting all 12... That should have been the final from what thsi sounds like, didn't see the championship, but heard it was not in question...
  23. Harding seems be getting the shaft do they ahve a chance against Baylor? Harding is very underrated!
  24. Yeah a lock, ha i laugh... CBHS is 0-3 vs Harding this year... So of course they were going to get beat... It was a great game, Harding got down 15-0 really fast and fought back to take the lead with about 2 min., left in the game. Anyways it is Briarcrest vs MUS and Harding vs St. Benedict, so no small scholl teams in the State Tournament... Those games are Thursday, 6 and 7:30, at St. Benedict...
  25. Michael McClaren (Dartmouth) 6.6 pts; 2.0 reb; 1.0 assists Johnathan Ball (Dartmouth) 5.5 pts; 3.8 reb; 1.3 assits; 1.1 steals Tre Williams (Kaskasia JC) 18.9 pts; 4.6 reb; 5.7 assits; 2.1 steals
