  1. For CC the playoffs would go away. Lets say you bring down Oakland and Ravenwood to Region 3. If Coffee County could make the playoffs in a region with 8 teams instead of 6 that would be more of an accomplishment. Lets face it. Only two teams in Region 3 dont make the playoffs...at least one of those teams in Rutherford County should be put in Region 3. Oakland would make a good fit. Now you would have 7 in Region 3 and 7 in Region 4, and the diaper league of Region 3 would be a little stronger. Cookeville and Lincoln County have earned their stripes. They have won playoff games before and have proven they deserve to be in. They are legitimate playoff teams.
  2. Yes. They do. Forgive me for my error. Hendersonville is in also. My apologies.
  3. A few more nuggets to chew on. Collierville 6-4 Out of the playoffs Whitehaven 6-4 Out of the playoffs Oak Ridge 5-5 Out of the playoffs Coffee County 4-6 In The Playoffs And Finished 3rd! Are you kidding me! I guess it is plain to see that Coffee County is better than Oak Ridge since they are still playing and Oak Ridge is left at home. (Just Joking) Anything can happen in the playoffs...A 4-6 team doesnt deserve to be in a boat where anything can happen. Grab a life jacket.
  4. Another aspect the TSSAA should look at is the number of teams in each region. There are 8 regions in 5A. Region 3 has the smallest number of teams (6) in the state thus making it the easiest region in 5A to make the playoffs. A team in Region 3 could make the playoffs with a 2-8 record...thats sad. No other region in the state in 5A could get in the playoffs with a 2-8 record. Here is the Break down: Region 1 - 7 Teams Region 2 - 8 Teams Region 3 - 6 Teams (Beat the right 2 Teams and your in) Region 4 - 8 Teams Region 5 - 8 Teams Region 6 - 8 Teams Region 7 - 8 Teams Region 8 - 8 Teams Now I know this isnt Coffee Counties fault...They are considered by the TSSAA a playoff team because they are a top 4 team in their region. They get to play another game because the TSSAA allows them to. The other regions arent getting a fair shake. The Cost to enter the playoffs is more for Region 4 than it is for Region 3. The TSSAA only charges Region 3 - 2 Wins The TSSAA on the other hand charges Region 4 - 4 Wins Something needs to be done about this. If I were one of those teams in Region 4 that got left out...like Oakland. I would not be happy. There is no way Oakland would finish lower than 3rd in Region 3. Region 3 is watered down and weak.
  5. Here is what I came up with CC's wins have come against teams with a combined record of 7-33. Smyrna's wins have come against teams with a combined record of 32-48. One of those wins came against Brentwood. Someone please check my math but I believe this is correct. This makes a better argument on the whole schedule thing.
  6. How many of those 6 playoff teams did CC beat? One... How many of those 4 playoff teams did Smyrna beat? Three... Lets see what the combined record is of all the teams CC beat Vs. The combined record of all the teams Smyrna beat. I will work on that. I think that is more of a tale tale sign in what we are looking for.
  7. Coffee County is in the weakest region in 5A. A 4-6 team doesnt deserve a playoff spot much less a 3rd place finish. If Coffee County were in Smyrnas region they wouldnt even be in the playoffs. Heck, if Coffee County were in Tullahomas region they wouldnt even be in the playoffs and thats a 4A region. Breeden could have made the playoffs every year in this region. I'm sorry its just a joke. There needs to be a realignment. Bring some of those teams in Rutherford County down into this region. Some of those teams that didnt even make the playoffs might win this region. They deserve a shot. Coffee County could go 2-8 and make the playoffs. Thats just uncalled for. A playoff game should be a reward for teams that have had a good season. Coffee County has not had a good season. Who have they beaten? Smyrna will win this game and all but one team in Coffee Counties region will lose. Congrats to Smyrna for finishing second in your region. That truly is an accomplishment. Again...there needs to be a realignment to put things into perspective and bring some folks back down to reality. Give the Rutherford County Teams a chance. Spread em out and let some other Counties have a taste. Instead of watching them beat up on each other put some in Coffee Counties Region. Lets see how that plays out.
  8. I agree. Baylor wins this one big. Coffee County has had trouble stopping good athletes all year and Kevin Cooper is definetly an athlete. Any player who has the University of Tennessees' attention is worth going to the game and watching. I will make the trip just to watch him. As far as the game is concerned...I dont think Coffee County can compete. CC hasnt beaten a quality team all year. Shelbyville, Franklin County and Cumberland County are all way down this year. Has Shelbyville or Cumberland even won a game this year? CC is lucky to have them on the schedule. Coffee County will finish the season a disappointing 4-7 (If they can beat Warren County) after the playoff loss. Before the year began I thought 5-5 at the worst. This looks like another year of Coffee County beating who they should beat and losing to teams that are better or equal to Coffee County. A win over Baylor and a win in the first round would salvage the season, but I do not see it happening. Good luck to CC anyway. Baylor 48 Coffee County 13
  9. Didnt your last prediction look a little like this? Simple. Overton lost to Hillsboro 38-21. Well Hillsboro beat Tullahoma 35-28 and Coffee County lost to Tullahoma 42-7. So Hillsboro would beat Coffee County by 49 points, where they only beat Overton by 17 points. Therefore, Overton must be 32 points better than Coffee County. 39-7 Final. Pretty Close. I would look into bodog.com if I were you.
  10. Region 3. 2-8 gets you in the playoffs. The only thing region 3 has going for them are Cookeville and Lincoln Counties past championships. These two teams have the only chance of winning a first round game, but I think region 3 5A will go 1-3 in the first round this year. The #1 seed will win then loose in the second round. Riverdales region has to be the tuffest and thats who region 3 plays. Didnt a team from region 3 5A get 70 points scored on them in a playoff game 2 years ago? That should show us a little something.
  11. Coffee County plays in the weakest region of the state. I wonder if CC was in Riverdales region would they even make the playoffs? 2-8 could get you in. Doesnt that seem strange? Some teams could have a winning record and not make the playoffs.
  12. The kids on the other teams have been working hard also and are probably just as dedicated...lets not forget about those guys. There is no good lesson in running up the score on anyone. What kind of message does that send? No 16 or 17 year old kid deserves being humiliated like that. Sure, we can look at the stats the next day and see 600 yards offense, but whats the point? Are we supposed to be fooled into thinking CC will win the state? A win is a win. When you are up 4 touchdowns with only a quarter to play in the game, call off the dogs. If you are worried about a comeback then leave your first team defense in, but dont keep running up the score. I respect Tullahoma for doing that last week. I lost some respect towards Coffee County. After losing bad to Tullahoma, I hope the CC coaches dont insult their fans intelligence by running the score up on Cumberland County. We have an ok football team. They will make the playoffs and loose in the first round, but its an improvement from past years where we were the team losing 62 - 21 and going 0-10. Coffee County is no State Contender, and running the score up on weaker teams isnt going to make us any better. You only loose respect. The boys on the other teams dont deserve being humiliated by grown men who dont show mercy.
  13. Good luck to Cannon County. They are lucky to have Coach Barger.
  14. Coffee County will put up 50+ points and beat another team they should beat. Why the 50? Maybe to make last weeks game not look as bad, or is that even possible? I hope they dont run the score up again like they did Shelbyville cause Tullahoma could have against them but chose not too in the 3rd quarter. Running the score up doesnt fool people unless you can back it up the next week. Coffee County didnt. Good luck to both teams. I just hope Coffee County shows mercy like Tullahoma did for them, and I hope all the kids get to play.
  15. Both teams will make the playoffs. Neither will win in the first round.
  16. So Soup, When are you and Coach Brown gonna get it on? It's obvious you have some type of crush on him.
  17. Thank You for making my point. I guess the Zebras tripped all the Seattle players and held them down on the ground so they couldnt make the tackle when Fast Willie Parker set a Super Record rushing for a 75 yard touchdown. Oh yeah, What about Randle El to Hines Ward. Did the Zebras trip them there also? Need I say more? Its always the refs fault. Are they the reason for rising gas prices as well? If it wasnt for the refs we wouldnt have problems controlling the border with Mexico too right? Did the umpires from Soddy keep the Riverdale bats from scoring 10 runs instead of 3? Probably not. Why was it a one run game anyways? Why put yourselves in that position when you go on the road? You have to score runs to take the game out of the umpires hands but Riverdale didnt. Its always the umpires fault.
  18. Sounds like a bunch of Seattle Seahawks fans after they lost to Pittsburg in the Super Bowl. Good season Riverdale but you lost. Remeber, you controlled your own destiny. Why was it that you guys even had to go to Soddy in the first place? You lost the game before. You put yourselves in the position you were in. If you didnt want to go to Soddy...you should have won the region. You didnt. You lost. Go Home. See you next year. A one run loss can't be blamed on the umpires. Good luck Soddy in the State.
  19. Oh yeah, heres another team that has a history of choking when it counts, but I will keep this in the High School sports discussion...better yet I will even leave it to girls high schools sports. Early and mid 90's. White County girls basketball. ahh heeeh Back to the subject. Soddy Wins
  20. What about the Atlanta Braves? You wouldnt say they have a history of choking when it counts?
  21. Tough luck for Cookeville. They will only get to play 2 games of postseason this year. I have no stock in Cookeville or Wilson Central just an outsiders point of view. Wilson Central will beat them in the second round. Cookeville plays in the weakest 5A region in the state. Congrats on your region championship, but you guys would have finished third or forth in Riverdales region. Sorry. No more creampuffs after round one.
  22. Thanks, that senario looks a whole lot better than Goodpasture or Lipscomb like it would have been in years past.
  23. Marion has the mental edge, but I think Sequatchie has the better team. Should be a close one just like two years ago. Who will Sequatchie play in the playoffs if the win/loose?
