  1. Both team have made alot of mistakes early in the year that cost them. Congrats to Coach Reid on his first win at WB. I think though WB is in for a game. Alcoa is young but fast and they have just come off a two week spanking session from maryville and Sweetwater, two very good teams. WB is not ready for teams like that and if they had played them the results would have been the same. If coach Reid can stop all the dads out there from pressuring him to play thier boys and play the kids who can get the job done WB might make the play-off's this year. Good luck to Alcoa and WB, fellow Blount Brothers where football rules!
  2. Morristown West has been a good team the past three years, they just haven't been able to drive past Maryville. We Reb Fans are looking forward to our game with Morristown West on the 20th because we know they will give us a tough game. We haven't had a tough game our 2nd and 3rd string players could not have handled. This week the starters will sid after a half at Heritage and be 3-0 by the Morristown West game. Good luck to Morristown West and East.
  3. I don't want to be cocky, but me thinks Maryville would score 50 points on sweetwater unless they could get about 6 or 7 more kids from Maryville to transfer.
  4. BassTatic: True Alcoa has run thier mouths quite a bit, you can do some of that when you win a State Champ Ring. It is not the classy thing to do. One must remember those kids are gone and the new players are in fact just kids. Watch the Maryville Red Rebles and there you will find class. Alcoa will rebound one day in about 2-3 years until then they will be ave.
  5. My congrats to the Oak Ridge football program, a great one indeed. This will not be your best year but you history speaks best! Congrats and good luck this season
  6. Except Cade played Ok at QB for only his second start, but if the line keeps getting banged up, like Ewbanks's did and someone one brings the heat during coach thompson's boy's developement, he will fold. He will do well in a year or so if he gets some meat on him and does some speed drills. Rouse is the guy and the freshman have two to three that can run pask Cade in a trot! I am not bad mouthing Cade, he is a great kid but he is just in the right place at the right time. My concern is with Mor-West front 4/5, they are playing tough and Morristown is a tough place to play, they will test our great kids up front for sure. Pray for Rain! Nonetheless the Black Swarm is back and two deep everywhere. Me thinks the back-ups could have beat halls and this friday the BIG RED and Black are going to put the hurt on our blount brothers to the east. Timbo was great but coach Q took him out of the game by not kicking to him. The kick-off team better hunt some heads this week or it is the bench for some of them.
  7. OK, Gang. What is the line on Fridays annual match of Hall's vs Maryville? I think Maryville's Second string takes over late in the 3rd qtr. as the reb's continue thier march to the post season. What say you?
  8. Last year when Red Bank came to Maryville in the semi's and many UT fans showed to see G. Riggs, the UT signee, they saw him shut down on every try. He carried about 35 times and got about 65 yards. Many asked who this Carl Stewert kid was. Watching the two backs one wonders if UT got the wrong back. Carl will have a great year behind Maryville's big and experienced line for sure.
  9. Greenback looked good at WB last friday vs WB. WB is 5A on paper and Greenback gave them all they wanted at the GOV palace! Good luck to both teams this year because Blount Co rules the east and GB rules N.Madison Cty.
  10. No Question here. Alcoa is not and could not be ready for what will happen on Maryville turf this year. Maryville has the same kids that destroyed the former Alcoa State Champs one year removed. Alcoa will score late in the 4th on the 3rd string and the starters are done middle 3rd Qtr. Stewart and McCord will have thier tongs hanging out from running up and down the field. Sorry Alcoa its 0-2 for you MHS 52-7.
  11. Nick Giles and Reese Mcmahan can not be viewed in the same light. Both were there for the most part because of politics. Nick was not very athletic to be sure but was very smart and did not make mistakes with the ball. Good kid and had a great cast to work with. Reese was not big enough to see over his line and missed many opps to make plays. Also playing both ways is never a good idea at the 4 or 5A levels. Reese should have been catching wojo's passes and then WB would have won a few more games. But WB rotates coaches as soon as the family completes thier senior years. Rouse is a year away, but with Murville being 3 deep everywhere 20 kids could be coached to be effective with the cast this year. If your a reb fan your in for another great year. Bank on it!!
