  1. Not going to get me rilled up. Just will state that it does not matter what the rankings say. Two teams got the trophies. Livingston is #1, DL is #2, and both have the hardware to prove it. Any other rankings are pointless at this time.
  2. I'm afraid I can't. If you would read the entire thing it says "when he can match the ring and silver ball". Swing and a miss. However, I am not on here to start anything again. Livingston is a great football team, and we all saw that on Saturday. Congratulations to Wilson Cates and the Livingston area. You have a team to be proud of for years to come. Hopefully, Wilson will have a chance to display his game at the next level, this kid showed a lot of heart. Signing off until next fall. Go Stangs!
  3. Oh no, no respect from the great Rocking Chair... I might even wear my 'respect' on my hand Saturday for you. If you want a glimpse I'll meet you somewhere. I'm not 'razing' (or razzing) any high school kids. I think it will be a great game between two good football teams. I am just responding to the cockiness of a fan base that has been nowhere in football history.
  4. Sorry, I assumed you knew what the gold and silver balls were. However, with this being your first trip, I will gladly explain the prizes. 1st place, A.K.A the Champion will receive a gold ball. 2nd place, A.K.A the Runner-up will receive a silver ball. These balls are on a trophy(your girls bball team might show you one) so to speak. Here at Lipscomb, we have won several things in football over the years, so we have cases for these trophies if you will. Thus, that is why the ball is in the case. If you have any further questions about the game or prizes please let me know, I will be glad to answer them.
  5. No that's quite alright ... I will call him Mr. Cates when he can match the ring on my finger and the other silver ball in our trophy case. Until then Cates will do just fine.
  6. Is this a joke? Please do not mock one of the greatest chants in college football history. You are an embarassment to the football community and especially the men who play and have played under the great field general Joe Paterno. Please tell me your coach is not Barry Sanders. He showed up during Lipscomb's last state appearance and had a heck of a day (300 some odd yards that I would love to forget). The "little general" will have the Lady Stangs ready to play I'm sure. However, you are right, the state championship is calling the name of the L-A-D-Y-H-O-G-E-Y-E.
  7. We are Penn State, or at least have a coach who played there. You are right. Girls basketball is firing up all across the state.
  8. Hear ye, Hear ye... Livingston Academy fans have figured out the reason why Lipscomb lost the 03 game to Huntingdon. As a member of this team, we would like to extend our gratitude to you for solving this mystery. Are you kidding me? Please do not act like you know anything about the DL program or why we lost this game. I did not even know that Livington had anything other than a girls basketball team before this week.
  9. Can someone please show me where Lipscomb fans are predicting a blowout? Ok, didnt think so. Also, why does Livingston feel the need to get on here and tell DL not to overlook them. If I am Livingston, I hope I am overlooked. However, I will guarantee you that Lipscomb will not overlook Livingston. You don't make the Boro if you are not a flat out good football team. The role of the underdog is out the window. It is the "big stage", both teams will be ready make no mistake. I expect a great football game and nothing less. To the Mustang Seniors, It was a pleasure to play with you during your sophomore year. You are a great group of guys and athletes. I enjoyed every minute of it. You have worked hard and earned this opportunity, and I am proud to say that I was your teammate. To Braden, you have come a long ways since the days when I was teaching you how to do power cleans. I still think I can take you boy. Go get you a ring #43, you deserve it. As a sidenote, DL did not overlook Huntingdon. Coming from someone who was actually on the field, we were outplayed by a better team on that specific night. End of Story. Go Stangs and beat this so called H-O-G-E-Y-E...
  10. As a former Lipscomb player, I sit here baffled wondering how one could say that being private school is what won the 37 games from my sophomore year to my senior year. Also, I wonder how anyone in their right mind could have watched the game Friday night and not seen how Lexington had better athletes. Yes, Lipscomb gets kids from a wider area, but it was clear that Lexington was bigger, faster, and stronger. Did it matter? No, because Lipscomb kids play well together in a system that is near flawless thanks to some of the greatest coaches and men that I have ever known. If you have any questions as to how the Lipscomb program runs and operates, you are free to call former defensive coordiator Troy Williams who is now the Assistant Prinicipal at Dickson Co. after serving with the Mustangs for a year. He will gladly tell you that Lipscomb does not recruit, but merely will out execute in every aspect of the game. Lipscomb has a huge advantage over a small town?? I think not. Did you see the Lexington crowd, that was amazing. I just saw a group of kids out athleted perform at a very high level and move on to the next round. Congrats to both teams on good years and good luck Stangs.
  11. Lipscomb-21 Lexington 17 I am looking forward to a great football game with some true playoff weather. To all of the DL faithful, get out and support this team. The crowds the last two weeks have been less than impressive. The Stangs will look to advance to at least the Semifinals of the playoffs for the 4th straight year and deserve nothing less than a packed house. Good luck to both teams and to the Lexington crew have a safe trip.
  12. What makes Alcoa so good? One word... Leadership. Playing this team in 2003, the Alcoa team was very young and talented. We (Lipscomb) got an early lead and you could see the frustration set in with a bunch of sophomores on the field. As a Senior that year, along with around 13 other Senior starters, I knew Alcoa was going to be a force to be reckoned with. Brandon Warren and Dustin Lindsey are first class athletes. It has been amazing to see how far these guys have come from that night when we beat them 55-6 on their home field. That very game may have been the one that caused them to really grow up. Congratulations to a great and talented group of Alcoa seniors and good luck on bringing home your second straight gold ball.
  13. When I think of this game, I am reminded of the DLHS-Stewart Co. game of 2003. I believe this game will come down to Lipscomb's ability to execute a pitch on a punt return. If Jeremy Holt is able to pull of the "Lehning pitch" to Malcolm Rose (Tyler Pennington), I expect the Stangs to win by 1. gobigred07 ...would you please read your reply carefully and the part you quoted...your name is never mentioned.
  14. Did MBA and "the Big Red Machine" slip back into the playoffs in 3A this year? I must have missed that all together. Could have sworn it was Lexington that was coming to the Reece Smith Athletic Complex on Friday Night. Also, your one loss comment has about as much meaning in this thread as all of your school's Golf championships. I really have to go now, because BigRedTiger is bringing a game over later.
  15. To summarize the thread to this point: Lexington has superior athletes/speed. However, they do not always bring their "A" game but are quite sure they will find this mysterious "A" game come Friday night. Lipscomb is a private school. (Could have fooled me.) Because Lipscomb is a private school, they automatically have a 14-0 lead to start the game. Bombsquad continues his tradition in getting under the skin of an entire fan base.
  16. bulldog, BGA did not want to schedule Lipscomb anymore after taking the loss in both the 2001 and 2002 seasons. These were two of BGA's better teams in the recent history, and they still failed to beat the lowly 2A Mustangs. The term sour grapes comes to mind here. Pick the Patriots to win and then cry the next day because DL was the far superior team due to the coaches and player not the facilities. Have a good day, and think of an excuse as to why Ravenwood will handle you again next week.
  17. Gameday... Week 1... Does it get any better than Friday Night high school football? The weather could play a role tonight as the Stangs compete for the first time as a member of 3A football. Overcast, with a chance of rain that in my eyes would not effect anything but the speed of the two teams. I don't believe the minimal passing games of either team will be effected. Just two years ago, a high scoring affair took place at Bobcat Field with the Mustangs coming out on top. I expect this game will be very opposite when it comes to scoring.... I'm holding with the prediction...Stangs-14 GB-6 Good luck to both teams
  18. I think COACH exemplified how everyone should really act on CoachT with this post. "Grateful his children didn't turn out like some of these Lipscomb kids did". What an attitude. I happen to be one of these Lipscomb kids who has talked to Greenbrier's star middle linebacker and running back the last two nights. I know and am friends with some Greenbrier players and have not attacked a single Greenbrier player. Now, you get on here and begin attacking the integrity of Lipscomb students because they try to bring life to an otherwise boring thread. Here's to COACHHARD, king of the classy post.
  19. COACHHARD, I have come to the rescue. As a former defensive back and receiver, I feel it my duty to break down this aspect of the game. On friday night, I look for the receivers to get out there on the grass of Bobcat Field and run some sharp routes. They may even hold up their hands and catch a ball if its is throw their way. Mostly, receivers on both teams will be engaged in some intense blocking as I expect lots of running in this contest. As for the defensive backs, I expect there to be some good tackles made and maybe even a few missed. However, I do predict the DLHS safeties to make at least 2 shoe string tackles, and the corners on both teams to combine for 5 FO's (thats force outs, as in out of bounds). I hope this break down has really aided in your game preparation, COACH, because we can all see how intense you are on these message boards. I can't even imagine you on a Friday Night. Good luck to both teams....Stangs win 14-6... As for records, you are correct DLHS does like records when it comes to football. The Winningest team in 2A history is the most recent record that comes to mind... Another would be the 7-3 mark the Stangs have posted over Greenbrier.. And another for kicks....since 1988 the Mustangs have posted a 178-42 record...
  20. Greenbrier and White House, the rivalry heard around the ...well come to think about it I don't think anyone outside of Robertson Co. talks about it.
  21. Why all of the hostility between Bobcats and Mustangs? We are all part of the Animal Kingdom. Anyways, this is far from a rivalry. Greenbrier's two wins in the overall series hardly constitutes the constant bickering between these two fine institutions. To the game, both teams have lost key ingredients off of last year's teams. The likes of athletes such as Herndon, Aldridge, Rogers, and Elrod moving on to college will make this game very interesting. I expect to see the ball in the air under 15 times for the game, including kick-offs and punts. A classic ground war will be waged by two very good coaches at the infamous "Bobcat Field" (where legends are born....Pigg...etc.) Mustangs win due to the play of the linebackers. Stangs- 14 Bobcats-6
  22. Finally, it has happened. The sarcasm and humor of these posters has been identified. I watched in amazement last night as the posters were able to get under the skin of the Greenbrier community. Just relax.
  23. What exactly did Alcoa start last year?
