  1. Wow. I don't remember the last time I was called a juggernaut, but whatever...
  2. Hey guys, I'm still here, I promise. It's just that the inane babble of nader64 and blu has gotten a bit boring. I'm pretty sure that the MUS quarterback in the 2001 game suffered a concussion and broke his foot after that hit. He stayed in the game for a little while after it, but definately did not finish the game. That hit from Kep still ranks among the most vicious I've seen. Good luck to the Blue Tornado this week!
  3. Just a thought, how could anybody put Tyner ahead of McCallie when McCallie beat them head to head?
  4. well crap, does anybody have a rundown of the game?
  5. hate to say it, but I told you so...anybody have stats? and was the score 30-7 or 30-17? I've seen two different scores...
  6. I don't think that the folks in Knoxville have taken a good look around the state the past couple years. Anyone who says that Central will run over McCallie is fooling themselves. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a big McCallie win out of this game. Having seen McCallie play the past two weeks, I'll conservatively say McCallie by 10. Kudos to Central for scheduling the toughest teams that they can though...

    McCallie

The spring before the 2001 season, McCallie was completely humiliated by a sub-par East Ridge team. Everybody who follows McCallie football knows what happened during the 2001 season (12-0, state champs). Spring is never really an indicator of an upcoming season at McCallie. Admittedly, I don't know a whole lot about McCallie's outlook for the upcoming season, but I can tell you a few observations since I played with some of these guys a few years ago. Coach Potter and the rest of his staff always have the boys ready to play. Ryan Moore has plenty of talent at QB, and when he's at the top of his game, he can easily be one of the better QB's in the state. Chris Johnson is your classic big, strong, high school running back. I'm not too sure who their recievers will be this season, I'd guess that Ryan Murphy will be in the mix there, and he's very solid athlete who'll also be one of their best DB's. The O-Line for the upcoming season reminds me a lot of the line that I played on during the 2001 season. They aren't always the biggest, but they're strong and tough. I swear, a couple of those guys got freakin' huge since their sophomore season though. Defensively, they graduated several key contributors, but they're still strong. The d-line will be there with several of the offensive linemen playing both ways, the linebackers always seem to be alright, ever since I've been around McCallie, they've seemed to have solid linebackers, and I'm sure there are several in this year's crop. I'm not really sure about the DB's, I know Murphy will play and do well, but other than that, I'm not too sure who all is going to be back there. Anyway, I went on far longer with this than I intended to. I guess the long and the short of it is, The Blue Tornadoes are usually an underdog, but everybody around McCallie likes it that way. Preseason rankings really don't mean too much, the games are played on the field, not on paper (or on an internet message board for that matter). I just want to wish all of my boys at my alma mater good luck with their upcoming season.
  10. true....if you don't count McCallie and Baylor
  11. When are these games and when is the championship? I'd love to see a McCallie-ND championship game. It would definately be intense, but I think it's probably more likely for McCallie to get by Lausanne then ND get by BA...
  12. trust me, the best team in D2 won't come from single A or double A. THe best team in Division 2 will be either Brentwood Academy, McCallie, or MBA

    riggs

because White was at East Ridge and Riggs was at Red Bank...
  14. It's now official...Carl Stewart signed with Auburn today. Great choice Carl, welcome to Auburn! War Eagle!
  15. 65-51 McCallie...Suddath went for 24... http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_32133.asp
  16. Ryan Moore-McCallie-QB Demonte Boldin-Tyner-OL/DL Levonte Barber-Cleveland-RB All three of these guys have major college potential and will be critical contributors if their teams are to go far into the playoffs this year.
  17. Looks pretty good...Cleveland and Boyd Buc will both have hard times winning state, but I think Cleveland definately has a legitamate shot. I think South Pittsburgh will have a better shot than Boyd Buc, but we'll see how Boyd replaces Healy and Nelson. I'd also say that McCallie and Tyner both have good shots at going all the way. They both have a top caliber player to build a team around (Ryan Moore from McCallie and Demonte Boldin from Tyner), and at least McCallie was pretty young last year. Should be a pretty good season...
  18. sure you are...good luck Big Blue!
  19. I saw David Harrison from Brentwood Academy on ESPN tonight playing for Colorado. Does anyone know why he got thrown out? All I saw was him go after a guy from the other team and then get escorted off the court by the police. Also, he's put on a bundle of muscle mass..he looked good, but what's with him getting thrown out?
  20. I don't think there's anywhere in the SEC where Carl could just come in and be handed a job. He's going to have to work to get a position wherever he goes. From everything I've heard, he's a very hard worker, but I doubt he'd be able to find anywhere to be the featured back as a freshman. Signing day is coming up....WAR EAGLE!!

    Super Bowl

Well, it sure had it's moments, and it looked like it was going to be close for a while. Anyway, does anyone know of any guys who played their high school ball in Tennessee who were in this game?
  22. no kicking problems? they were 16 of 25 on field goal attempts, and 28 of 31 on PAT's...how do you miss 3 PAT's? Looks like a problem to me...the kickers would have saved Tennessee several overtime periods if they had come through against Arkansas. How can you not agree though that Tennessee has had a lot of trouble keeping top prospects in state (or at least getting them to go there over MTSU or Vandy)?

    Best QB in 2003

Hey Wes, You've got Ryan read a little wrong. The boy freely admits that he can't run for crap (he's lucky to run a 4.9). His weapon his definately his arm. Last year it would definately appear that this was reversed, but he had to scramble a lot last year, and didn't always have a lot of time to make great throws. If you look back at his sophomore season, he threw only one INT (and that one really shouldn't have been as it was very obvious pass interference), and he had a huge amount of yards. All QB's in McCallie's offensive system have to be good runners, but Ryan's main weapon is definately his arm.
  24. In a way, I agree with you, forced workouts aren't necesarrily the way to go. You can force a kid to be in a weight room, but that doesn't mean you can make him put in the hard work once he's in there. It takes a personal effort from everyone on a team to get them to a championship level. On the other hand though, a coach needs to have a strong team. Coach Weathers not requiring his teams to work out makes sense. When I played against Red Bank in 2001, Weathers's last year there, I was surprised because everyone had made Red Bank out to be this big, strong, team of monsters. Granted they almost beat us, but I don't think that anyone who played in that game will argue who was the stronger team: the McCallie team that was required to workout, or the Red Bank team that wasn't...
