Almost forgot - put all your eggs in the Smith's kid basket from Giles County. Saw him play at the Arby's Classic - if he doesn't play with any more enthusiam or play fundamentally sound defense or develop a pure jump shot - he will be the biggest bust ever in our state. My guess though - Buzz will screw it up. I am sure that Charlie Benson will have to get him to come, b/c BUzz couldn't do it on his own.

Just finished watchinhg the UT - Florida game, wher UT got destroyed. The way this relates to high school basketball is the following - Buzz Peterson and his staff have no clue in evaluating talent and especially in the state of Tennessee. Lee Humphrey was the best player on the court today from Tennessee - yes that includes 1) Dane Bradshaw, active - yes, but no where near the ability to score, 2) Scooter McFadgon - much more atchletic, but not pure, and most defintely better than 3) Boomer "I am the worst recruit ever for UT Basketball" Heredon. It is absolutely shameful that Buzz Peterson wasted a scholarship on him. He should have stayed in Nashville and play for Trevecca Nazarene University. Buzz and glorious staff are terrible. They have zero clue in recruiiting. I am sure that they will let other local talent get away, like teh Brewer kid from Portland. I guess he too, like Lee Humphrey, can't defend or score in the SEC. Well guess what UT, "The ALmight Volunteers", and "I am so great looking Buzz Peterson" - nobdy on your team can do it either. I hope the pain continues until the UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE realizes that there are good SEC Athletes in their backyard and they don't have to go all over the country to find medicore talent.

South Doyle @ Farragut cancelled, makeup date will be announced on Monday morning.

Just a few notes and ideas; 1) South Doyle is not the 2nd best team in Knoxville. I agree with CHill they are having a nice year. 2) As far as their schedule, they beat Bearden when they were #2 in the prepxtra poll and then beat Seymour when they were ranked #10 in the prepxtra poll. If this was the NCAA, those would be big wins that would help you get in the tournament, so we should give credit when credit is due. 3) South Doyle just finished a stretch where they played 6 games in 9 days. Horrible scheduling, but the Cherokees came through 6 - 0. There are NBA teams that don't have that many games in that amount of days. Hats off to the Cherokees - go through the rest of your schedule and play hard and have fun! As far as the Farragut game - I will only say this - I bet Coach Smith will have a wrinkle for the Admirlas that they are not ready for and it will interesting to see how long it takes Coach Dodgen to adjust. Farragut has better players and athletes, but South Doyle has better coaching. What will prevail?

I heard Jim Swafford fro South Doyle was getting the job at Munford. I guess that is another lie told by the big SWAFFY!

For what it is worth - South Doyle beat William Blount freshman by 22 last night. William Blount beat MAryville - SO Of course this is freshman

Was not at the game, how did it go? It looks like it was a good game until the 4th quarter. First game jitters or what?

I know in the South Doyle - Rhea County scrimmage Saturday that Zach and Copper had 87% of Rhea points. Copper hit 11 out of 20 3's. As a team they shot at least 65%.

Does South Doyle have a chance? JD has been doing a great job turning the Central program around and I was wondering how you saw this game playing out. If anybody has an opinion please let mw know. I think it will be a great game for all the fans, Central will be pumped for their first game with their new coach, and South Doyle from what I have been told should be competative, so we will see. What does everyone think?

I heard that he is the front runner for the Heritage job. THey have already contacted him and made an offer. An announcement should be comig this week. What a great steal for this great coach. I only wish that South Doyle would have not let him go. I think with him at the helm, South Doyle would have won at least 7 games and proably still be in the playoffs. Preparing to play DB for the 2nd time.

I am a big fan of the Halls Red Devils and I was wondering who won teh scrimmage last night between Morristown West and Heritage? The Red Devils play both teams this year and was wanting to get some early info on both teams. Any thoughts or information would be greatly appreciated.

You have made a huge mistake leaving out Logan Johnson of South Doyle. Very easily the one of the top juniors in teh Knoxville, East Tennessee area. Gomab your rankings are very weak b/c you left him out. You must not know your baskteball.

South Doyle beat Morristown West tonight by about 20. Could have been more but they called the dogs off. I think it should a great game, very fast paced and very good defense on both ends. I heard Ooltewah was awesome - I hope that the Kee's can hang around and make it a game.

McMinn Central lost to Farragut by about 20. Central did not win both games.

Bonfire - you are right about South Doyle except for 1 thing - "no structure or coaching." Coach Smith has brought SOuth Doyle back. 7 wins in the 3 seasons prior to his arrival - and in two 31 wins. I think that is coaching. I am very unsure about the post player that has a bad attitutude - last time I saw them, which was Saturday, they had no bad attitudes. South Doyle is scrimamging Ooltweah this Thursday. Coach Smith and Coach Baker go way back. Coach Baker was a coach that taught Coach Smith man things about the game. It will be exciting and fun. I can tell you that SOuth Doyle beat Greenback by about 50 points ( No kidding and the first team played only 2 qtrs.) and then with no rest turned around and beat Harriman by about 13 or 14. They scored over 70 points both games. Their transition game is unbelivable. Just one more thing - they were missing 4 of their players out of their rotation. Very anxious to see how they do in their scrimmages this week.

As far as I know, the Kite has left South Doyle and will sit out a year and then play his junior and senior years at Austin East. THere was some discipline problems at South Doyle. I agree with you small town that Wright and Blevins have more to work with, but I just feel Coach Smith deserves some credit for a job well done at our school. WE don't have much, but we play like no other team out there. I am real excited about the upcoming year in Cherokee land. BTW Burroughs has added about 20 pounds of pure muscle and NAthan NAsh 6'4 post will also be palying this year.

You better not overlook South Doyle. Logan Johnson is a defintely a top 5 in the KIL. THey will also have several proven senior scorers. Coach Smith does a tremoundous job with very little talent. I think he belongs in the same category as Wright, Blevins, and Dodgen. Just think of this stat, the 2 seasons prior to his arrival, South Doyle had 7 wins. His first 2 seasons - 31 wins. I think that sums his coaching ablity up. My guess - this is his last season at South Doyle.

The coaching change has hurt. THey get rid of a great coach in Jim Swafford. He had teh program turned around. I think the seniors have quit on Coach Chandler b/c they loved Jim so much. We miss you Jim , please come back

I heard the embattled Jim Swarrord from SOuth Doyle will get the job. He already has had 3 job offers from schools trying to snatch him up. Clinton, Rome, GA., Warren County, and noe Moore County. This guy is obviously a hot candidate for several jobs in TEnnessee. I think his name will continue to get mentioned until some one snatches up this great coach.
