  1. I coached in Perry County for 9 years. I was there when the program was first "re-started" The first year it was Coach Calvin Aldrige and me. We added two assistants the next year. The third season Coach Aldridge left, but it was mainly to go back to Mississippi to where he was from. Aldridge did not get ran out. I am sure any one in the system would tell you that they would love to have him back. The only season above 500 was the third year of the program under Danny Aldrige (Calvin's cousin) He also left to go back to Mississippi to be with his family. Both of these guys were great coaches that Perry County did not want to loose. Coach Rice did a great job there as well, but I can't help but to believe that the only reason he left was to go back to Waynesboro to coach his kids. Who would want to coach against his on children? I can't blame him for that. I left to go back to Alabama to be with my family. The "fine folks of Linden" as you call them are just that, they are fine folks. The people there are great, and it is a wonderful place to live.
  2. I do not know Coach Jones, but I am sure they will turn that program into a successful program. Sorry to hear that many of the middle school kids are not playing, they usually had a few good player year in and year out. Good Luck with the program Eagles!
  3. Coach Jones' troops should not be too inexperienced, they have had a middle school program at East for some time now. Pretty good the last few years too if I remember correctly. I am sure they probably pulled some kids in from County too. Good Luck to the new program, glad to see East get a H.S. and start football, but I have to go with the trojans on this one.
  4. Good Job Cole and Forrest! Glad to hear that Dakota is playing, Great kid with a lot of talent!
  5. Put the problems behind you and PLAY HARD!!! Good Luck Vikings!!!
  6. Derek did play for me. He was a pretty good Kid. Glad to see him doing well. Good Luck Tonight Vikings!!!
  7. Who is the guitarist from PC who plays with Friday Night Fireside? The Hickerson brothers are great. I knew they would do well with their music. I see them going further with it as well. Send me more info on the concert, I might try to come up. Email me at retsalt@yahoo.com Good Luck Friday night Vikings!!!
  8. Hey Ned, hope everything is well with you. Where are you at this year? I know the old bleachers were really bad, but did someone actually break their leg or are saying that it could have happened? I know that it is possible that it could have happened, I was just wondering if it did.
  9. Glad to hear that the bleachers were replaced. Doesn't sound like something that someone who didn't support the program would do. Vikings, you do have support from the top level administrators all the way down to the people in the community and even in Alabama! Good luck to you and never quit!
  10. I would be glad to respond to this statement, but not on here. Email me at retsalt@yahoo.com and we can discuss it.
  11. You are correct, he did only coach football for a short time, and he probably couldn't compete with head coaches in your region, but that is why he is not head football coach. However, he is a good man who cares about the students at PC and I still say that he supports football more than he is credited with on this thread.
  12. Has PC started spring training yet?
  13. Good job Vikings, keep up the good work!
  14. I can't speak for Coach Robinson, but yes I am happy where I am now. I am at a great school and closer to my family. However, I did enjoy the time I spent in PC. I still have friends there and wish Coach Bradley and the guys the best of luck next season. I also think that Mr. Webb supports the football program more than he is given credit for on here. He actually coached football at one point. I believe that he wants to see all students and activities in PC be successful.
  15. Who are the guys that you are talking about that is so fast? Are they the guys coming up from middle school?
  16. Where did Neal and his family move to?
  17. I know there are some guys playing baseball that should be on the football field. Chris Graham and Dakota Qualls were two of the best linemen on their team when they played middle school football, probably in the top ten or so of best linemen I ever had at the middle school level. There are others that play baseball that could really help out too. In a small school Like PC, the true athletes need to play as much as they can to make each program successful.
  18. I was told that Coach Courtney was given his job back as a teacher, but with no coaching duties. Is this true or is he going to be working with the team next year? To have an ideal staff, three to four coaches would be needed, some schools have even more. I know that those two could do a great job, but if you ask them, they would love to have a couple of other guys to help them.
  19. When is Spring practice scheduled in Perry County?
  20. I coached in Perry County when the program first started, and I am currently coaching in Alabama where the school is just starting their football program. Therefore I am very experianced in starting new programs. The most important thing is to have support from the community. If the parents and community stands behind the program, it will eventually take shape. The parents in Perry County are AWESOME!!! they stand behing their team. Most coaches are willing to work and do what it takes to build a program as long as they have support. Congratulations Scotts Hill and good luck to you.
  21. I believe that PC will be in contention for the playoffs next season. Good bunch of kids with a lot of heart. Go get'em Vikings!
  22. I talked to Coach Bradley a couple of months ago and he told me about how well Cole played. He said he was very impressed with him. Good job Cole, I am proud of you! Keep up the good work!
  23. I coached football in Perry County for 9 years. I was there when they first started the program and just recently left to go back home to Alabama and be with my family. The people there are the salt of the earth. They took my family and me in and treated us like their own. We still have great friends there and PC will always be special to us. I was proud of the season they had last year and wish them the best next season. I have worked with Coach Bradley and he is a good coach. He will have his young team ready by next year. I was the head Middle School coach and ast. varsity coach and coached most of the kids that were on that middle school team. Let me tell you, they are warriors. They do not know how to quit! If they stay together, when they are jr.s and Sr.s, they will be tough. Chris Reed is a great leader and as gritty as they come. The only season they have had over 500 is when Danny Aldridge was the head coach. (1999) I believe that this is about to change. Lock and Load boys and remember never, ever quit! Coach Laster
